CLIMATE CHANGE To Be High On Agenda For PM Modi-Biden Meet
New Delhi: Climate change, economic cooperation and multilateral development bank reform will be high on the agenda when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden hold a bilateral meeting in New Delhi on the sidelines of the G20 summit, senior American officials have said. Another issue that is likely to figure prominently in the conversation is the Russia-Ukraine war. Asked about what will be discussed at the bilateral meeting, Mr Kirby said, "Well, without getting too far ahead of the meeting that hasn't happened, it's certainly going to be an appropriate follow-on to their very robust bilateral discussions here when we hosted Prime Minister Modi at the White House not long ago for a very complete and official visit."

Ukraine war: US to arm Kyiv with depleted uranium tank shells
The US has announced it will supply depleted uranium tank shells to Ukraine as part of more than $1bn (£800m) in military and humanitarian aid. Russia condemned the move to equip US Abrams tanks with the controversial armour-piercing munitions. The announcement came as Ukraine accused Russia of killing 17 people in a missile attack on a market street.
Overnight, suspected Ukrainian drone attacks were reported on the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don and near Moscow. Unconfirmed video showed what appeared to be a blast in central Rostov where, according to Governor Vasily Golubev, one person was lightly injured and several cars were damaged.
Moderna's Updated COVID Vaccine Effective Against New 'Pirola' Variant
Washington: Moderna said Wednesday its updated fall Covid booster, which is pending approval from the Food and Drug Administration, performed well against the highly mutated BA.2.86 variant.
Human trial data showed the shot produced an 8.7-fold increase in neutralizing antibodies against the variant, also known as Pirola, which has been designated a variant under monitoring, the US biotech company said.
China's Spy Agency Calls for Sincerity in Potential Xi-Biden Meeting
Beijing: China's top security agency has hinted that any meeting between President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden in San Francisco later this year will depend on the United States "showing sufficient sincerity".
Biden on Sunday expressed disappointment that Xi was not attending an upcoming summit of G20 leaders in India, but added that he was going to "get to see him".
Biden did not elaborate but the next likely opportunity for Biden to hold talks with Xi, as the two countries seek to stabilise troubled relations, is an APEC summit in San Francisco in November. "To truly realise 'from Bali to San Francisco', the United States needs to show enough sincerity", the Ministry of State Security said.

US Watchdog Files Lawsuit To Stop Donald Trump From Running For President Again
The lawsuit, filed in Colorado by the Washington-based Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW), rests on an amendment to the US Constitution ratified after the 186165 Civil War.
Section 3 of the 14th Amendment bars anyone from holding public office if they engaged in "insurrection or rebellion" after once pledging to support and defend the Constitution.
Joe Biden Visits Storm-Hit Florida
Live Oak, Florida: US President Joe Biden on Saturday surveyed the damage caused by Hurricane Idalia in northern Florida and comforted residents hit by the storm, but notably had no plans to meet with Ron DeSantis, the state's Republican governor and a potential presidential rival. Biden, a Democrat, told reporters on Friday he would see the governor during the trip, but DeSantis' spokesman Jeremy Redfern said later that no meeting was planned and "the security preparations alone that would go in to setting up such a meeting would shut down ongoing recovery efforts."
American SingerSongwriter Jimmy Buffett Dies At 76
Washington: A government watchdog group filed a lawsuit on Wednesday seeking to bar Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential ballot on the grounds he violated his oath of office by engaging in an insurrection.
The lawsuit, filed in Colorado by the Washington-based Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW), rests on an amendment to the US Constitution ratified after the 1861-65 Civil War.
The amendment, ratified in 1868, was aimed at preventing supporters of the slave-holding Confederacy from being elected to Congress or from holding federal positions.
Acting on behalf of six Colorado voters, CREW petitioned elections officials in the western state to keep Trump off the ballot in next year's presidential election. "Donald Trump tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 presidential election," the suit says
'India' to 'Bharat' is the news on G20 that's grabbing US media attention
American singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett has died at the age of 76. The musician was best known for his hit songs like 'Margaritaville' and'Fins'. He died in his sleep on the night of September 1, a statement published on his official X (formerly Twitter) account read. "Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs.
On the eve of US President Joe Biden's arrival in New Delhi for the high-profile G20 Summit, speculation is mounting regarding a potential name change for India. The Indian President's official banquet invite, addressed to world leaders in the name of 'Bharat' instead of 'India,' has stirred a debate within India and overseas. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration has not officially confirmed this change, it has not provided clarity on the altered
G20 invites either. US media outlets have been closely following this development, with some reporting on a new Indian government document referring to Modi as the "Prime Minister of Bharat," a departure from the longstanding "Prime Minister of India" title. This development has fueled rumors that India may consider officially renaming itself "Bharat." The term "Bharat" has historical significance in ancient Indian scriptures and represents a pre-colonial identity. Some members of Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) advocate for this change to better reflect India's cultural heritage. Reports suggest that a "special session" of the Indian Parliament later this month could be the venue for an official announcement regarding the country's name change, as India continues its transition from British colonial rule to modernity.
Joe Biden Cracks Down On Unlicensed Gun Dealers
Washington: The administration of President Joe Biden moved Thursday to close loopholes that allow people to sell guns without a dealer license, which would require them to perform background checks on purchasers. The Justice Department released detailed rules that follow the Biden-backed Safer Communities Act passed by Congress in June 2022 in reaction to the large number of shooting deaths -- especially in mass shootings -across the country.

UN would consider name change to 'Bharat' if request is received: Spokesperson
United Nations: (IANS) If a request is made to formally change the name of 'India' to 'Bharat', the United Nations would consider it, a UN spokesperson said on Wednesday -- and, going by a recent precedent, it would probably take just a letter from External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Asked by a Chinese media reporter what would be the process to change the name if India were to make a request similar to Turkey’s, which changed its name to Turkiye, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’s Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq said, “In the case of Turkiye, we responded to a formal request delivered to us by the government. Obviously, if we get requests like that [from India for changing its name], we will consider them as well."

China bans some govt officials from using Apple iPhones: Report
Hong Kong: (IANS) Amid the escalating rivalry between the US and China, the Xi Jinping government has reportedly barred officials from using Apple iPhones at work, the media reported on Wednesday. Beijing has instructed some government staff to stop using iPhones through chat groups or meetings, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.Apple relies heavily on Greater China region for both manufacturing and sales of its iPhones and has a major chunk of its product manufacturing in the country amid its future plans to make India the next big manufacturing hub. “Restrictions on foreign devices are the latest step in Beijing’s campaign to reduce reliance on overseas technology and could hurt Apple’s success in the country,” the report noted.
A cash boost of hundreds of millions of dollars and more control of land in the occupied West Bank are among Palestinian demands in the event of a three-way deal involving the US, Saudi Arabia and Israel, the BBC has learned. Officials from the Palestinian Authority (PA) held talks in Riyadh with Saudi counterparts on Wednesday. They were also due to see US officials. The Americans are long thought to have
been pushing for a landmark pact to normalise Israel-Saudi ties. It would be underwritten by Washington and would include a major security deal the Saudis want to achieve with the US. But the prospects for such agreements face significant obstacles and remain distant.

PM Modi’s Message To Ministers On Bharat-India Political Row
Over the last 24 hours, the opposition has held two meetings to chalk out a gameplan over the issue. This morning, former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi wrote to PM Modi
New Delhi: After almost two days massive “Bharat-India” political row, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked his ministers to stay away from commenting on the issue. “Do not comment,” sources quoted him as saying at a meeting of the Council of ministers where G20 and other issues

This is the first time PM Modi is learnt to have discussed the subject with his ministers.
Over the last two days, the opposition has held two meetings to chalk out a gameplan over the issue.
On Wednesday morning, former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi wrote

The government has reacted sharply, suggesting that Mrs Gandhi does not pay attention to tradition, under which the agenda need not be discussed before the session begins.

New Delhi: Former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s nine-point letter on the special session of parliament has drawn an acerbic response from the government. Mrs Gandhi is perhaps “not aware of traditions,” wrote parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi, asserting that the government discusses the agenda with the Opposition only after the session begins. Mrs Gandhi had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today, amid a political uproar over the buzz on a change of the country’s name to Bharat.

New Delhi, September 7 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is the centre
point of India’s Act East Policy. He made the remarks while addressing the ASEAN-India summit in Jakarta, Indonesia. Saying that the ASEAN region will also play a key role in India’s Indo-Pacific initiative, he noted: “Even in an environment of global uncertainties, our mutual cooperation is making steady progress. This is a testimony to the strength and resilience of our ties. “’Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’One Earth, One Family, One Future - is the theme of India’s G20 presidency.”
Xi’s Absence from G20 Sparks Speculation, Raises Questions About Motives
Months of preparation, excitement and security arrangements are all set to pay off as India gets ready to host the mega G20 Summit in the national capital this weekend. World leaders have also begun arriving. With less than 12 hours to go until the traffic restrictions kick in, the Delhi Police is gearing up for a hectic four days, even as most people living or working in the New Delhi District are looking forward to a forced long weekend. Heavy, medium and light goods vehicles will not be allowed to enter Delhi from 9 pm today till midnight on Sunday. The same restrictions will apply to taxis and autos from 5 am on Saturday.
A gazette notification by the Delhi government said the entire area of New Delhi District will be considered a “Controlled Zone” from tomorrow morning till Sunday. Only bona fide residents, authorised vehicles and vehicles involved in services such as housekeeping, catering, waste management for hotels, hospitals and other important installations in the district will be allowed to travel to India Gate, C-Hexagon and other such areas.
US city declares Sep 3 as ‘Sanatana Dharma Day’
China’s President Xi Jinping’s decision to stay away from the upcoming G20 summit has sparked speculation and raised questions about his motives.
Brussels, Sep 7 (IANS) Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a sixday trip to Europe arrived at Belgium’s Brussels on Thursday morning and will hold interactions with Indian diaspora and European Union MPs. His EU tour comes at a time when New Delhi is scheduled to hold a much-anticipated G20 Summit in the national capital between September 9 and 10 where the leaders from the US, UK, Australia, China and others will mark their presence.
This marks the first time that a Chinese president has skipped a G20 summit, causing many to wonder about the implications.
Some experts believe that Xi’s absence could be part of a long-range strategy to diminish the importance of the US-dominated G20 and promote alternative forums, like BRICS, in its place. This move could challenge the G20’s status as the pre-eminent global forum. Others suggest that Xi’s decision may be aimed at curbing India’s ambitions
to use the G20 as a platform to enhance its global standing, especially in the Global South. Furthermore, Xi’s absence could be related to tensions between China and India, with China possibly seeking to disrupt India’s efforts to showcase itself as the leader of the Global South.
While this situation may not lead to a formal Cold War, it underscores the competition between G20, dominated by the West, and BRICS, led by China and Russia, as alternative narratives on the global stage. India and other nations may find themselves navigating between these two blocs, straddling both sides.
A city in the US state of Kentucky, Louisville, has officially declared September 3 as ‘Sanatana Dharma Day,’ a move that aligns with its efforts to promote cultural diversity. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg participated in a re-consecration ceremony at the Hindu Temple of Kentucky, where the proclamation was made. The event garnered the presence of spiritual leaders and dignitaries, reinforcing the cultural significance of the declaration.

Berlin's Sri-Ganesha Hindu Temple: A DecadesLong Dream Realized Through Community Efforts
Nearly 20 years in the making, Berlin's Sri-Ganesha Hindu Temple is set to become a symbol of unity, cultural preservation, and spiritual refuge for the city's Hindu community. Vilwanathan Krishnamurthy, a dedicated advocate for the temple, arrived in West Berlin nearly half a century ago. He and his wife took jobs with modest pay, exemplifying the tenacity of "guest workers" who eventually became Berliners.
The Sri-Ganesha Hindu Temple project was initiated in 2004, with the local district authority generously providing a plot of land on the edge of Hasenheide
Highway Stretch in California, named after Slain Indian American Cop
park. Over the years, groundbreaking ceremonies were held, but securing funding was a challenge. Krishnamurthy and the temple association persevered, opting to rely solely on donations rather than accumulating debt for future generations.
The growth of Berlin's Indian population, particularly young professionals in the tech sector, played a pivotal role in funding the temple. Thousands
of tech workers, drawn to Berlin by IT companies like Amazon, found themselves yearning for the familiar rituals of their homeland, prompting generous donations to the temple project. The temple's completion is a testament to the intersection of local stories and the global economy's dynamics, symbolizing the enduring commitment of the Indian diaspora in Berlin. The

Sri-Ganesha Hindu Temple, a space for communal celebration and spiritual reflection, embodies the multicultural spirit of the Kreuzberg neighborhood, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and faiths.
Krishnamurthy, now 70, views the temple as more than just a physical structure. It represents togetherness, dialogue, and cultural exchange in a neighborhood that embraces diversity. As Berlin's religious landscape evolves, this temple stands as a shining example of a community's unwavering dedication to preserving its traditions and fostering unity in a foreign land.

A stretch of a highway in the US state of California has been named after 33-year-old Indian-origin police officer Ronil Singh who was shot dead while conducting a traffic stop in 2018. The stretch of Highway 33 in Newman was dedicated to Mr. Singh by the Newman Police Department. Notably, a signage proclaiming the ''Corporal Ronil Singh Memorial Highway'', which stands at Highway 33 and Stuhr Road, was unveiled at a ceremony on September 3, attended by his family members, colleagues, and officers.
Assemblyman Juan Alanis posted pictures of the ceremony on social media site X, and wrote, ''Today the community came together to honor the memory of Cpl. Ronil Singh, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in December 2018. The memorial highway sign was unveiled today and will be displayed on Highway 33 and Stuhr Road.''
“Love you Papa," Mr Singh's son Arnav, who was just five months old when his father was killed, wrote on the back of the signboard.
Washington: (IANS) Indian-American presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who has heaped praises on fellow Republican rival Donald Trump throughout his campaign, says the two have policy differences "but they are small".
Asserting that he and Trump are "the two 'America-first' candidates" in the 2024 presidential race, Ramaswamy told Fox News, "I think we're deeply aligned on policy, 90-plus per cent of the way". Citing differences, Ramaswamy said that he "would rescind affirmative action" and militarise the southern border instead of just building the wall.
"I would shut down the US Department of Education, not just put a good person... on top to reform it... We have some of our areas of differences, but they are small," Ramaswamy said on being asked whether there was any daylight between him and Trump. Following the Republican debate last month, a confident Ramaswamy told reporters that only two candidates would be left in the race, which would be him and Trump.

Trump, "doesn't mean anything. I'm running for this country".
"I think we have an opportunity to reunite this country around our shared ideals, and that will allow me to take the America First agenda even further than Donald Trump did, by building on what I think is a very good foundation that he laid," the 38-year-old entrepreneur told the news channel.
When asked on GB News whether he would be "happy to be (Trump's) VP", Ramaswamy ruled out, saying: "I can only reunite this country if I'm doing it from the White House as the leader and the face of our movement."
He said he had "fresh legs" and was "almost half (Trump's) age", but would ask him to serve as "my most valued adviser" in the White House. Trump, who is now the GOP frontrunner despite four indictments and two civil cases against him, praised Ramaswamy as a "smart guy" with "a lot of talent". However, he went on to warn the political newcomer that he was becoming "a little bit controversial".
Singapore, Sep 5 (IANS) An Indianorigin rapper was sentenced to six-weeks in jail on Tuesday for attempting to promote feelings of ill will between different racial and religious groups in Singapore. Subhas Govin Prabhakar Nair, 31, was convicted of four charges in July for posting messages on social media between July 2019 and March 2021, which the prosecution described as inflammatory in nature. Nair had responded to an Instagram video on July 25, 2020 in which the subjects had made remarks linking the gay pride movement to Satan, The Straits Times reported. He wrote: “If two Malay Muslims made a video promoting Islam and saying the kinds of hateful things these Chinese Christians said, ISD (Internal Security Department) would have been at the door before they even hit ‘upload’." Nair, who removed the post in November 2020, admitted posting the messages during his trial earlier this year but denied he had done so in an attempt to promote ill will between different racial and religious groups in Singapore.

Blacklist errant builders who don't deliver homes after taking money from buyers: Mamata

Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has asked real estate developers to ‘blacklist’ errant builders who fail to deliver homes after taking money from buyers. Pointing out that the state administration, especially the police department, often gets complaints from harassed homebuyers about builders who fail to deliver, Banerjee asked Credai to impose self-regulation.
“Credai should stand for credibility,” Banerjee said, adding that she would henceforth send the complaints received to Credai West Bengal.
“If the complaints come we will send it to you. Blacklist these people,” she said, while inaugurating STATECON 2023, the annual apex state conference of the real estate industry organised by Credai. Responding to the call of the chief

While CM Banerjee spoke about mediation by the police and builders’ body, there is now a dedicated law in place by way of the Real Estate Regulation Act (RERA), which deals with such issues. In the recent past, the state widened the ambit of the law to include all developments above 200 square metre (about 3 cottah) and six apartments under Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016. Previously, it was applicable to projects above 500 square meter (about 7.5 cottah) and eight apartments.
Banerjee also asked developers to take advantage of the recent policy changes that allows conversion from leasehold land to freehold land.
Arm Holdings: Chip giant hopes for market value of more than $50bn
San Francisco: (IANS) The Lina Khan-led Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the US is likely to file its massive lawsuit against Amazon later this month, as the e-commerce giant reportedly failed to offer concessions to the FTC in pursuit of a settlement over antitrust claims.
The lawsuit will touch upon various aspects of Amazon’s business, while also suggesting “structural remedies” that could potentially break up the tech giant, reports the Wall Street Journal, citing sources. “E-commerce giant’s lawyers offered no concessions in talks with agency officials last month,” the report mentioned.
The meeting was “a chance for the technology giant to make its case to the regulator to head off a possible lawsuit that officials have been working on for many months”.
The commission has been examining Amazon practices, including whether it favours its own products over competitors’ on its platforms and how it treats outside sellers on Amazon.com.
“The lawsuit will target a number of Amazon’s business practices, such as its Fulfillment by Amazon logistics programme and pricing on Amazon.com by third-party sellers,” the report said, citing people aware of the matter.
New Delhi: Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das today said the central bank is committed to bringing down inflation to 4 per cent and will remain watchful of risks as more frequent global supply shocks can have profound implications on the management of the price situation.
Delivering a lecture at the Delhi School of Economics, the governor said the RBI remains on guard to ensure that
the second-order effects in the form of generalisation and persistence with regard to inflation are not allowed to take hold.
The central bank has been mandated by the government to keep inflation at 4 per cent with a margin of 2 per cent on either side. "The frequent incidences of recurring food price shocks pose a risk to the anchoring of inflation expectations, which has been underway since February 2022. We will remain watchful of this aspect also.

Implications for India in the World Cup
Selectors Take a Gamble with K.L. Rahul and Shardul Thakur Selection
New Delhi: (IANS) The decision by the senior national selection committee and the Indian team management to include K.L. Rahul in the 15-member squad for ICC
Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 despite not having played any competitive cricket since May this year has left many people baffled.
Australia tour of India after he tore his right thigh tendon, and got injured during the Indian Premier League (IPL). He went for the surgery in May and was under a rehabilitation centre at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru. Announcing the squad, Ajit Agarkar also gave an update on Rahul's fitness and stated, “KL is looking good. We feel this gives us the best balance to try and do well. With KL, he was part of the camp in Bengaluru, he looked really good there and has gotten over his niggle. He played a couple of games over the last two days. I think he kept for 50 overs and batted for around 50 overs too, so he looks good and we're happy to have him."
Rahul’s selection still looks like a gamble by the selector as India have struggled to find their perfect No.4 batter. There is an asterisk around Rahul’s name, how productive he can be as a wicketkeeper-batter with his past form and recovery from injury, only time tell.
The Indian team management has tested several options for various positions for the last many months and yet it seems to have agreed to go ahead with a player who is just back from a long break and has recovered from a niggle only a couple of days back.
Rahul is currently preparing to fly out to Sri Lanka for the Super Four stages of the Asia Cup after being declared completely fit at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru on September 4. Rahul played his last ODI match in March this year on an

There is an asterisk around Rahul’s name, how productive he can be as a wicketkeeper-batter with his past form and recovery from injury, only time tell. The other surprise selection is the inclusion of Shardul Thakur in the squad. He seems to have been picked to provide batting depth to the team, but concerns over his bowling remain a headache for the team. In the last match, Shardul bowled four overs for 26 runs, taking one wicket. Playing against the debutant Nepal India hardly looked dominating with the ball and bundled them out for a modest total only because of Nepal’s errors.

I hope it's not only about India and Pakistan: Gambhir
Former India cricketer Gautam
Gambhir emphasized that the primary goal for the Men in Blue should be to secure victory in the 2023 World Cup, rather than placing excessive importance solely on their match against arch-rivals Pakistan.
Speaking to Star Sports after the India-Nepal Asia Cup clash, Gambhir said that the match against Pakistan is "just a step towards winning the World Cup". "England had the last laugh. You go into that tournament not thinking that we have only got to beat Pakistan. And I hope that doesn’t happen in the 50-over World Cup in India as well.

Competing in the 34-degree heat on Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday night, the 36-year-old was in no mood to relinquish his streak against Fritz, triumphing 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 to improve to 8-0 in the pair's ATP Head-to-Head series.
The Serbian, who now holds a perfect 13-0 record in quarter-finals in New York, set an Open-era men's record of 47 Grand Slam semifinal appearances, surpassing Roger Federer's mark of 46. Djokovic, who improved to 8-0 lifetime against Fritz, took command early and never relinquished control as he methodically marched to his 359th Grand Slam singles victory and set a semifinal clash with either tenthseeded Frances Tiafoe or Ben Shelton. The 23-time Grand Slam champion is chasing his fourth title at the hardcourt Slam, having triumphed in 2011, 2015 and 2018.

Quinton De Kock to retire from ODI cricket after World Cup 2023
Johannesburg: (IANS) Proteas ace batter and wicket-keeper Quinton De Kock is set to retire from ODI cricket post-ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. Cricket South Africa (CSA) in their World Cup squad announcement release confirmed the news and stated "we want to thank him for his service to South African cricket". South Africa Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe said, “Quinton de Kock has been a really good servant to South African cricket. remaining two home Championship matches against Nottinghamshire & Lancashire, as well as Kent’s away fixture against Somerset. Yatharth Gaur bags victory in tight Micro Max final
Bengaluru: (IANS) The 9-year-old Yatharth Gaur of Leap Frog Racing came up with a brilliant performance to take a hard-fought victory in the final of the Micro Max category in the second round of the FMSCI Rotax Max National Karting Championship 2023 held at Meco Kartopia here.
Yatharth, a Class 5 student of Manav Rachna International School in Faridabad, turned turtle after an accident in Heat 2 but showed immense resilience to bounce back and take second place behind Darsh Nawalgaria in the 10-lap race in the Pre-finals.
"I hope it's not only about India and Pakistan on October 14. I hope it's about India playing the World Cup final and lifting the Cup, because you never know how many people will be part of the next World Cup from this World Cup team. And it only happens after 4 years," Gambhir said.
"For us as a nation, for us as fans, for us as broadcasters, everything should not only be focused on India and Pakistan. It’s all about winning the World Cup. Pakistan is just a block. It’s just a step toward winning the World Cup," he added. Gambhir also reminisced about the championship-winning Indian teams from the 2007 and 2011 World Cups, emphasizing that their primary focus was on the ultimate prize, with the Pakistan match considered just a step in their journey.
"In 2007, the T20 World Cup, we started our campaign against Pakistan, we played the final against Pakistan. It was never about Pakistan only. Even in 2011, it was never about Pakistan, Pakistan were just a step. So, when as a broadcaster, as experts, if we stop talking about only India vs Pakistan and think about winning the World Cup, I think Team India will be in a much better position," Gambhir stated.
The marquee clash between the two nations, which was earlier scheduled to take place on October 15, is now slated to take place a day earlier i.e., on October 14 at Ahmedabad.

Mamata Banerjee Questions India’s Name Change to Bharat
“President Of Bharat”: G20 Dinner Invite Sparks Big Buzz
Asserting that India is Bharat, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday questioned what suddenly happened that the country should be called only Bharat. Referring to the controversy over a G20 dinner invite in the name of ‘President of Bharat’, she said the world knows the country as India. “I heard that India’s name is being changed. The G20 invite that went out in the name of the honourable president has Bharat written on it. We call the country Bharat, what is new in this? In English, we say India... There’s nothing new to be done. The world knows us as India. What happened suddenly that the name of the country needs to be changed?” she asked, addressing a government function here.
“History is being rewritten in the country,” she added.
There has been no official word from the government on the issue yet. The G20 Summit is being held in Delhi on September 9 and 10 under India’s presidency and several heads of state from across the world, including US President Joe Biden, are attending the event.
Banerjee also attacked Governor CV Ananda Bose, alleging that he was holding back bills passed by the state assembly.

China’s Growing Tibet Activity Raises Concern in India
Xi Jinping To Skip Delhi G20 Summit, Beijing Says China Premier To Attend
New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) China’s might and ambition for securing the civilisational nation in all possible ways are well known. A most fundamental step in doing so is by securing the frontiers of a sovereign state -- and in the path to that comes the small Himalayan nation of Tibet. It is pertinent to recapitulate the history of Tibet with regard to modern-day China for a clearer understanding of China’s policy on Tibet.
Clearly, China sees including Tibet crucial to consolidating its borders and addressing defence concerns from the southwestern direction. In realising this intent, many Tibetians and other commentators term Tibet’s reality as a “cultural genocide”.
China Advises India to Remain Calm in Border Map Dispute
Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the 18th G20 Summit in Delhi this weekend, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a brief statement on its website Monday afternoon. The announcement effectively means President Xi Jinping will not be present, as Beijing will not send its two most powerful leaders abroad at the same time, let alone to appear at the same event. Quoting foreign ministry spokesperson, Mao Ning, the statement said, “At the invitation of the government of the Republic of India, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang will attend the 18th G20 Summit
to be held in New Delhi, India, on September 9 and 10.” The spokesperson further said “China hopes the summit can consolidate consensus, convey confidence and promote development”. “China has always placed high importance on and actively participated in relevant events... in attending this

Nikki Haley thinks she’s going to be Republican presidential pick: Report
Washington, Sep 4 (IANS) Asserting that any Republican is better than US President Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris, Indian-American Nikki Haley has said that the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential elections is going to be her.
Fresh out of the first Republican primary debate late last month, Haley told CBS News that she doesn’t think that the party front-runner and former boss Donald Trump is going to be the presidential nominee.

“I don’t think President Trump’s going to be the nominee. I think it’s going to be me.
But I will tell you that any Republican is better than what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are doing,” Haley told ‘Face the Nation’ on CBS. “The American people are not going to vote for a convicted criminal. The American people are going to vote for someone who can win a general election. I have faith in the American people. They know what they need to do,” she said. However, the former South Carolina Governor said she will support Trump if he emerges as the eventual Republican nominee even if he is convicted, by saying she did not foresee that scenario playing out.
On September 1, Indian-American Manoj Yadav, aged 40, was apprehended in connection with a massive technical support scam that victimized over 7,000 individuals in the United States. The scheme, which unfolded over the years from 2017 to 2023, involved Yadav and his co-conspirators, many based in India, impersonating a legitimate technology support company associated with a prominent US business and accounting software firm. Under deceptive guises such as “Phebs Software Services, LLC” and “Quickbooks Tech Assist,” the fraudsters reached out to their targets, predominantly small business owners and the elderly, feigning assistance for software issues. Following these bogus tech support sessions, victims were either billed exorbitant fees or subjected to additional subscription charges. None of these services were sanctioned by the actual software company, and victims were charged for assistance that should have been free. Manoj Yadav played a pivotal role in the fraudulent operation, channeling millions of dollars from victims to his fellow conspirators through “Phebs Software Services, LLC.” Yadav now faces one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross profit or loss resulting from the offense, whichever is greater. The scale of the scam, with its over 7,000 victims and $13 million in losses, has sent shockwaves through law enforcement agencies, emphasizing the importance of vigilance against such fraudulent activities.

“Ties With India Stable On The Whole”: China On Xi Skipping G20 Summit

India vs Bharat Row: A note on Narendra Modi’s visit to Indonesia refers to him as the ‘Prime Minister of Bharat’.
New Delhi: Even as the dinner invite to G20 leaders from President Droupadi Murmu sparked controversy and speculation after using the term ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the traditional ‘President of India’ on Tuesday, another document has come to light that refers to Narendra Modi as the ‘Prime Minister of Bharat’.
A note on the Prime Minister’s visit to Indonesia on Wednesday and Thursday for the 20th ASEANIndia Summit and the 18th East Asia Summit uses the term ‘Prime Minister of Bharat’.
“Look at how confused the Modi government is! The Prime Minister of Bharat at the 20th ASEAN-India summit. All this drama just because the Opposition got together and called itself INDIA,” Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh posted on the platform.

Home Minister Amit Shah and Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal would meet former president and head of the panel on simultaneous polls Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday afternoon, sources said. On Saturday, the government had notified a highlevel committee under Kovind to look into and make recommendations on the issue of holding synchronised polls to the Lok Sabha, state assemblies and local bodies. While Shah is a member of the committee, Meghwal is a special invitee. On Sunday, top law ministry officials had briefed Kovind and had sought to know how he would like to go about the mandate of the committee.
China had announced on Monday that Premier Li Qiang will represent the country at the summit, which will be held on September 9 and 10. At a briefing the next day, foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning was asked whether the decision to send the premier to India, instead of the president, reflected tensions between the two countries. She said that China-India relations have been stable on the whole and the countries have “maintained dialogue and communication at various levels”. On the G20 Summit, Ms Ning said China attaches high importance to the grouping and actively participates in relevant activities.
“Will Agree To Trade Deal With India Only If...”: Rishi Sunak
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday took a swipe at the government over the India-Bharat naming row, saying the opposition bloc could call itself the “Alliance for Betterment, Harmony And Responsible Advancement for Tomorrow (BHARAT)” and then perhaps the ruling party might stop the “fatuous game of changing names”. His remarks came after invitations for a G20 dinner sent out by President Droupadi Murmu, describing her position as ‘President of Bharat’ instead of the customary ‘President of India’, triggered a massive furore on Tuesday with the opposition alleging that the Modi government is planning to drop India and stay with just Bharat as the country’s name. In a post on X, Tharoor said, “We could of course call ourselves the Alliance for Betterment, Harmony And Responsible Advancement for Tomorrow (BHARAT). Then perhaps the ruling party might stop this fatuous game of changing names.” The Congress is a constituent of the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told his ministers on Tuesday he would only reach a trade agreement with India when it benefited the whole of Britain.
London: Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told his ministers on Tuesday he would only reach a trade agreement with India when it benefited the whole of Britain, addressing his top team before travelling to the G20 summit in India later this week.
“He said negotiations around a free trade deal were progressing and that he would only agree an approach which worked for the whole UK,” his spokesperson told reporters.
India sees a British trade deal as crucial as it aims to become a bigger exporter, while the UK, keen to expand trade opportunities after leaving the European Union, would get wider access for its whisky, premium cars and legal services. Still to be agreed are issues such as intellectual property rights, rules of origin and an investment treaty, and campaigners urged Britain not to demand any provisions that might undermine India’s generic drugs industry and make its products more expensive.
Over 4 Lakh Indians Will Die Waiting For US Green Card, Says Study
New Delhi: Over 4 lakh Indians will die before they receive a green card to the United States, a new report has said, adding that over 11 lakh applications from Indians are pending in US’s employment-based green card backlog.
A green card or a Permanent Resident Card is a document issued to US immigrants granting them permanent residence in the country.
Indian makes up 63% of the total 18 lakh employment-based green-card applications now pending in the country, US-based think tank Cato
Institute said in its report. This backlog adds to the 83 lakh pending applications from the family-sponsored system. According to the report, for new applicants from India, the backlog is effectively “a life sentence” with over 134 years of wait time. “About 424,000 employment-based applicants will die

Upon completion, the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham will stand as a landmark of Hindu art, architecture, and culture in the Western hemisphere.
A Kalash is an essential element of traditional Hindu mandirs. It is a metaphorical sacred pot of nectar that holds great religious significance. The kalash further acts as a divine ‘antenna’, capturing the surrounding divinity and channeling it through the pinnacle to the murtis positioned directly beneath, enriching the sacred atmosphere of the Akshardham. Amid Vedic chanting in a spiritually charged atmosphere, a total of 18 kalashes were consecrated.
In his address, Sadguru Pujya Ishwarcharandas Swami stated, “The kalash is considered significant because upon its placement, the shikhar becomes complete. Despite the passage of a cremation law in May 2019, Malta is yet to establish a functional crematorium, with estimates suggesting it may not be available until 2026 or 2027. The law's enactment also awaits the signature of the Malta President. This delay has left the Hindu community in Malta particularly frustrated, as their religious beliefs prioritize cremation to facilitate the soul's journey. Rajan Zed, President of the Universal Society of Hinduism, has urged the Maltese government to subsidize cremations abroad for Hindus, as costs start at €4,400. Alternatively, he proposed allowing traditional open-pyre cremations in Malta, emphasizing the importance of religious freedom. Cremation is a fundamental practice in Hinduism, and Zed called on Malta, as a member of the European Union, to uphold religious freedom and equality. Interest in cremation is on the rise in Malta, with over 200 individuals already expressing their preference for it.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has initiated a civil lawsuit against Kia America, Inc., Kia Corporation, Hyundai Motor America, and Hyundai Motor Company. The lawsuit alleges that these automakers failed to include standard engine immobilizers in several vehicle models (2011-2022), resulting in a significant increase in vehicle thefts, reckless driving, property damage, and related violent crimes in Chicago.
According to the complaint filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Kia and Hyundai omitted essential anti-theft technology, despite marketing their vehicles as having "advanced" safety features. The surge in thefts, which escalated from 500 in H1 2022 to over 8,350 in H2 2022, disproportionately affects low-income residents who often own the targeted entry-level models. Stolen vehicles have been linked to various crimes, including reckless driving and robbery. The City's lawsuit seeks to recover costs, provide restitution to affected vehicle owners, and enforce security enhancements. The lawsuit is handled by the City's Department of Law's Affirmative Litigation Division, and impacted individuals can share their experiences via consumerprotection@cityofchicago. org.

FBI Special Agent in Charge James E Dennehy said, “We allege Yadav lied to software users and forced them to pay for services that would usually come free with their initial purchase.” The count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $2,50,000 or twice the gross profit or loss caused by the offense.
FBI Newark Launches Hate Crime Reporting Awareness Campaign
CALIFORNIA- California based Indian-American dentist Ranjan Rajbanshi ran a dental practice. Between April 2020 through February 2022 he received over $850,000 in Covid-19 relief money. The relief was paid by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for business purposes such as facility costs, payroll, and protective equipment for him and his staff. However, the dentist has now pleaded guilty to stealing $500,000 in Covid-19 relief money for two years and using it for improper personal expenditures such as investments. He has agreed to pay that money back to the government before his sentencing. Rajbanshi faces a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison and fine of $250,000. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 4.
FDA Approves First Vaccine to Prevent RSV in Infants for Pregnant Individuals
The FBI Newark office is taking a unique approach to raise awareness about hate crimes, urging the community to report incidents to the agency. The campaign features advertisements bearing the message: "Bottom line: Silence Won't Solve a Hate Crime. Report it." These ads will be displayed across New Jersey on highway digital billboards, NJ Transit
buses, Facebook, pizza boxes, and even plane banners flying along the Jersey Shore during Labor Day weekend. James F. Dennehy, Special Agent-inCharge of the Newark FBI, highlighted the increasing prevalence of hate crimes in New Jersey and nationwide. Many hate crimes go unreported due to fear, misperceptions about what constitutes a hate crime, or doubts about whether authorities will take action. The campaign aims to encourage victims and witnesses to come forward, enabling the FBI to address these crimes and hold offenders accountable. Hate crimes, which involve bias against various attributes, are a top priority in the FBI's civil rights program.
WASHINGTON, DC- The U.S. FDA has approved Abrysvo (Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine) as the first vaccine for pregnant individuals to prevent severe respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in infants up to 6 months old. Administered via a single muscle injection at 32-36 weeks of pregnancy, Abrysvo also prevents RSV-related illnesses in individuals aged 60 and above. RSV, a highly contagious virus causing respiratory infections, is especially risky for infants, leading to hospitalization.
Abrysvo’s safety and effectiveness were proven through international clinical studies, with reductions of up to 91.1% in severe RSV cases among infants. Side effects include injection site pain, headache, muscle pain, and nausea. Preterm birth risk and hypertensive disorders led to post-approval monitoring. Pfizer Inc. gained FDA approval for Abrysvo, which received Priority Review, Fast Track, and Breakthrough Therapy designations.

16-Member Gang Busted For Robbing Indian Jewelry Stores Across The US
HiIndia Newsdesk
Washington: A total of 16 members of a major crime ring have been arrested for allegedly committing multiple violent armed robberies targeting Indian and other Asian jewellery stores across four East Coast US states in a span of one year.
Federal law enforcement arrested eight suspects on Wednesday, while the remaining eight were apprehended previously, according to a release by the US attorney's office, District of Columbia. According to the indictment, between January 7, 2022 and January 27, 2023, the defendants conspired in the District of Columbia to commit robberies in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida, targeting jewellery stores owned by Asian Americans.
The chargesheet listed nine "South Asian" jewellery shops that were targeted by the gang. Out of those, at least four could be identified as owned by people of Indian origin.
National Retail Solutions (NRS) recently announced an exciting new offering to help independent retailers better compete against big-box e-commerce competitors – free delivery for retailers when their customers shop online through the NRS Ecommerce program. NRS, a leading point-of-sale and payment processing provider for independent retailers, will now facilitate delivery for participating retailers at no additional cost per order. This provides a significant competitive edge for small and mid-sized brick-and-mortar stores looking to grow their online presence.
“Delivery, at no additional cost to our retailers, is just another way we are helping them succeed amidst a plethora of big box online competitors,” said NRS CEO Elie Y. Katz.
NRS partners with DoorDash, Uber, Point Pickup, and Relay services to handle the delivery logistics. The retailer pays nothing for the delivery service since it is free as part of the NRS Ecommerce program. Customers pay a small delivery fee and service fee for the convenience of delivery to their door.
This free delivery service provides true omnichannel capability for retailers. With the NRS Ecommerce program, retailers can have their own branded
The gang disguised in dark clothing, masks, and gloves, armed with a gun and used stolen vehicles, to commit and flee from the robberies, the press release issued on Wednesday said.
"The defendants targeted small businesses along the East Coast, stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of jewellery from hardworking families," said Assistant Director in Charge David Sundberg.
"For the past 20 months, the FBI worked with our partners across state lines to connect the defendants to these heists. Today's indictment is a testament to the strength of our partnerships and the commitment we all share to eradicating

injured or even killed," he said.
US Attorney Graves said that with an increasing number of robbery schemes that cross state lines, "collaborative operations like this one are critical to holding accountable those who threaten the safety of our communities."
Search warrants were also executed resulting in the seizure of multiple guns and approximately USD 300,000 from a safe in one of the residences, the press release said. The arrested have been slammed with 19 charges including conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce (known as Hobbs Act) robbery. According to the law, the maximum sentence for Hobbs Act robbery is 20 years in prison while the use of a firearm to further the severity of crime carries a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years with a maximum possible sentence of life. A federal judge will determine the appropriate sentence after considering sentencing guidelines and other factors, it said.

Trump Cautions Republican Ramaswamy on Statements
Government Calls Parliament “Special Session”, Agenda Not Declared
Government sources have said the agenda is likely to include Amrit Kaal celebrations and India as a ‘developed nation’, and there is no hint of any important bill.
Washington, Sep 1 (IANS) Former US President Donald Trump, who can be controversial with his remarks as annulling the constitution, in an unusual outreach to fellow Republican and Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy advised him to “be a little bit careful”with what you say, so you aren’t “controversial”. Trump, who is now the GOP frontrunner despite four indictments and two civil cases against him, praised the political newcomer as a ‘smart guy’ with ‘a lot of talent’. Vivek Ramaswamy has been gaining a lot of traction with his Trump like views on climate change, Ukraine funding and border issues and has openly said he wants to be his running mate, thereby catching his attention. Media reports said that Vivek Ramaswamy being booed at the Milwaukee debate reminded audiences of the way Trump was booed in his 2016 debate when he said he did not need donors or special interests for his campaign. He won the 2016 election in a surprise twist defeating democrat Hillary Clinton. Former President Trump has offered unsolicited advice to his GOP rival Vivek Ramaswamy, who has managed to get a lot of attention in recent weeks from not just the Indian diaspora, but republican voters and most important Trump’s attention.
2 Drunk Americans Found Sleeping Atop Eiffel Tower
Paris: Two American tourists were found sleeping off a heavy night in the heights of Paris’ Eiffel Tower on Monday, after dodging security the night before, the monument’s operator said Tuesday.
Security guards roused the men “in the early morning” as they were making their rounds before the French landmark’s 9:00 am opening time, publicly-owned Eiffel Tower operator Sete said. They “appear to have got stuck because of how drunk they were,” Paris prosecutors told AFP.
New Delhi: The government has called for a “special session of Parliament” to be held from September 18 to 22, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi posted on X (formerly Twitter), adding, that there will be five sittings. “Amid Amrit Kaal, looking forward to having a fruitful discussion and debate in Parliament,” he said.
Government sources have, so far, been tight-lipped on possible agendas. There is speculation the special session is being called to begin the process
of shifting from the old to the new Parliament building. So, this session may begin in the old and end in the new. Also, it may not be a joint session of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Government sources have, though, also said the agenda is likely to include Amrit Kaal celebrations and India as a ‘developed nation’. There is no hint of any important bill that will be passed.
PM Commends Chess Prodigy Praggnanandhaa
Sources said that the death toll in the incessant firing exchanges was six to seven in three days but officials were yet to confirm it.
Imphal, Sep 1 (IANS) At least five persons, including a tribal song composer and a Village Defence Volunteer, were killed and 20 others injured in Manipur’s Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts during the past three days while gunfights between Kukis and Meiteis were still on till Thursday night, officials said.
The five slain people included L.S Mangboi Lhungdim, 50, who composed the song “I Gam Hilou Ham (Is this not our land?)” after the ethnic violence broke out in Manipur on May 3. His songs became a rallying cry for tribal unity.
The dead also included VDV Jangminlun Gangte. Firing was continuing in the foothills of Bishnupur and adjoining areas in Churachandpur district till late Thursday evening, after a fresh gunfight between two rival ethnic groups started early morning, police officials said in Imphal.
New Delhi: (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met 18-year-old Grandmaster (GM) Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, who recently made the country proud by finishing runner-up at the prestigious FIDE Chess World Cup. The chess prodigy was accompanied by his parents as they called on the Prime Minister at the latter’s residence.
Vivek Ramaswamy’s Big Offer For Russia If It Exits China Military Alliance
Washington: To address the growing challenge posed by China, it is important not to let Russia fall into Beijing’s lap, Indian-American Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said on Thursday, asserting that if elected, he would achieve this goal by offering a “deal” with Moscow.
Mr Ramaswamy told Fox News that as a US president, he would offer to freeze the current lines of control between Ukraine and Russia, make a hard commitment that NATO will not admit Ukraine into it and lift sanctions. In return, Russia would have to exit its military alliance with China, he said.
“Very clear vision. I would do a deal that (Vladimir) Putin would say yes to but that actually advances American interests so that the United States wins. Here’s what I would do,” Mr Ramaswamy said when asked how he would stop the war in Ukraine.
Vivek Ramaswamy said the Russia-China military alliance is the single greatest threat that the United States faces today.
“I would freeze the current lines of control. I would further make a hard commitment that NATO will not admit Ukraine to NATO. That’s enough to get Putin to do the deal. But I will require something even greater in return,” the 38-year-old multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur said. “Russia has to exit its military
alliances with China. Right now, we’re pushing Russia further into China’s hands. The Russia-China military alliance is the single greatest threat that the United States faces today. And so just as Nixon did it in 1972, I’ll do it in reverse,” Mr Ramaswamy said.
“Pull Russia apart from China, and by the way, get Russia to also remove its military presence in the Western Hemisphere. Get out of the Western Hemisphere. Reopen economic relations with Russia, that’s how we do it,” he added. The Indian-American presidential aspirant said the reason why China is more valuable today is because the US has wrongfully cut off Russia from the West by bombing the Nord Stream one and two pipelines and also sanctioning Russia.“So if we can reopen the Western economic relations with Russia, Russia has less of a reason to be in partnership with China. There are also cracks in the armour of that relationship if you look closely,” he said.

Ways to navigate mental health amidst breast cancer
The science of
Muscle Recovery
Hitting the gym or putting in a home workout sesh using a YouTube video to guide you is just half the battle. What’s as important is what comes right after. The food and drink you consume post your sweat sesh can actually make all the difference when it comes to restoring energy, building muscle, burning fat, and basically not undoing the hard work you’ve done.
When you exercise, the proteins that make up your muscle fibres become damaged. These muscle fibres undergo microtears, leading to inflammation and soreness. This is a natural response as the body strives to adapt to the imposed stress. Recovery is the phase in which muscles repair and grow stronger. There are several things that can aid recovery – from a good night’s sleep to an ice bath to foam rolling to a massage. But at the core of it, adequate nutrition should be your top priority.
An important component of this postworkout recovery nutrition is protein. Research shows that consuming protein close to physical activity can stimulate muscle recovery. When you eat protein after exercise, it gives your muscles the
amino acids necessary to repair and rebuild, and get you ready for your next workout.
High-quality food sources of protein include dairy, fish, meat, eggs, and soy. But sometimes, in our busy lives, we might not be able to get these natural sources of protein in adequate amounts at the right time. That’s where nutrition bars come to the rescue. They pack in the protein and other nutrition your body most likely needs, they’re potentially yummy, and they’re super easy to stash in your gym bag or office drawer. But don’t just go around picking the next nutrition bar you see. Here’s a guide to help you pick the right one: But hang on for a moment, Why should I even be having a nutrition bar?
Because Indian diets largely revolve around grains and cereals, chances are, you too aren’t meeting your daily protein requirement as is. According to studies, 80 per cent of Indian diets are protein deficient whereas 90 per cent of the Indian population isn’t aware of their daily protein requirements. Ideally, you should be having approximately 1g
of protein per kilo of your body weight. But if you’re into heavy workouts, these needs can increase too. Nutrition bars that explicitly promise a good percentage of protein can help you meet these goals in ways that are more sustainable. Other nutrition bars might have energy as their main offering (with high-energy ingredients) or promises of a bunch of good-for-you ingredients. Pick one that works for you based on your needs.
So, can I just pick up a nutrition bar?
Nuh-uh. If it’s the protein element you’re chasing after your workout because your diet might not get you enough of it, then go for those labelled as protein bars. Watch out for those that might actually be sugar-loaded candies masquerading as healthy food. A good protein bar will be packed with a decent serving of protein (at least 10g), will be devoid of artificial or shady additives such as flavourings, sweeteners, and preservatives, and full of fibre. Look out for ones filled with ingredients like nuts or superfoods. They help you feel fuller for longer, and make the most of each bite.
When’s the best time to have them?
Research shows that eating a little protein before your workout helps but eating something right after (best combined with a carbohydrate) is a great idea too. Chomping on a protein bar within a 30-minute window is likely to help both replenish energy stores and rebuild muscle. A light protein snack before bed can be a great idea too. I always tell my clients that you should try to have small portions of protein in every meal and snack you consume instead of one big one.
But do I need one even if I don’t gym intensely?
Research shows that 52 percent of breast cancer patients report at least mild anxiety at the end of chemotherapy. However, there are various factors that can help you manage your anxiety as per your needs, from seeking help where needed to advanced therapy options.
Dr. Krishna Mohan MVT, Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist, Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital, Hyderabad “From frequent hospital visits to physical dysmorphia caused by loss of hair or breast to constant fear of recurrence or deathbreast cancer treatment often induces stress and anxiety for patients. Close to 60% of advanced Breast cancer patients have at least one targeted therapy option available.
Here are few ways patients can navigate their stress and anxiety while dealing with metastatic breast cancer:
Choose the Right Treatment for yourself:
With every treatment option comes certain side effects. For example, stress can be caused when one loses their hair due to chemotherapy.
Therefore, it is important to choose the right treatment plan which aligns with one’s psychological health. It is vital to have extended conversationwith one’s doctor about treatment options. This will aid in comprehending the therapies aimed at minimizing the effects on their mental well-being and providing insight into what patients can anticipate during their treatment process.
Seek Professional Support: Engaging with professionaltherapists or counselors, can provide valuable emotional support and coping strategies tailored to individual needs. They can help patients navigate their emotions, fears, and uncertainties, offering a safe space to express feelings and find healthier coping mechanisms.
Join Support Groups:
Connecting with others who are experiencing similar challenges can be empowering and comforting. Support groups offer a sense of belonging, allowing patients to share their experiences, exchange coping strategies, and receive encouragement from others who truly understand this journey.
Practice Meditation:
Research shows that eating a little protein before your workout helps but eating something right after (best combined with a carbohydrate) is a great idea too.
Honestly, it’s a fallacy to think that protein or nutrition bars are only for the gym bros. We all need protein — they’re the building blocks of our body. What differs, however, is how much protein you need. A nutrition bar is not and should not step in for your meals, at least not often. That said, it’s great to have one handy when the snack attack comes raging, when you need a midmorning/evening tidbit, something to round off your meal and if you’re working out, definitely to help you make the most of it.

Mindfulness is being present at the moment, without judgment. By focusing on your breath, your surroundings, and your body, you can reduce stress and anxiety. Mindfulness techniques can help you stay grounded and calm during difficult times. Try practicing mindfulness meditation, yoga or taking a few deep breaths when you feel overwhelmed.
Engage in self-care:
Taking care of yourself physically and emotionally is crucial during this time. Eat healthy foods, perform moderate exercises, and get enough rest.
