Second amendments of contents page and front cover draf Based on personal critical evaluation
1.I have changed the colour of the masthead and all the headings to dark grey, this is because I think this colour looks better overall and from my primary research my target audience said they prefer monochrome colours – black and white.
3.The first picture shows how the line under competition and cover star is not the same width. This was really visible especially in a full screen but I adjusted it in InDesign with no real issues.
2.As previously mentioned the editor’s note was slightly moved to the lef which lef nearly enough no space in between two columns. Also In the picture on the lef I have added a box, I think this shows importance of the editors note which makes it seem more professional and therefore realistic. I think without the box, it looked bare, there was too much white space around it.
4.For experimental purposes I tried adjusting another image into the contents page and specifically the competition box. I used an image of a CD however; this gave the contents page a more of a country feel possibly because of the light colours. I don’t think that style suited my magazine.
5.As previously mentioned, although it made the line stand out because it was underlined it looked unnecessary and it made the page seem a lot smaller than it actually was. I adjusted this and underlined text at the bottom of the page instead.
8. As mentioned above, I underlined the text on the bottom of the page which gave it a nice finishing touch and at the same time made the artists bolder and more visible.
6.I changed the cover line to a pull quote which will further entice the reader.
7.The letters from the masthead were not placed on the same level. I adjusted it in InDesign.
9. As my flatplan shows, I was going to use a puff on the front cover of Complex however due to a very busy background and not enough space around the model, the page looked too cluttered.
