The first question of my questionnaire about gender. It can infer what amount of people asked are male or female, out of 20 asked 12 were girls and 8 were boys. From this I can tailor the magazine to fit the gender that has most responses, this data will help sell the magazine better because it can be aimed more to the taste of females or males. If I were to make this questionnaire again, I would change the word ‘gender’ to ‘sex’ because sex is more biological.

By asking the audience for their age, it’s a lot easier to target the readers or people who will be buying this magazine. It is also then a lot easier to specify what they want the magazine to look like and what else to include through researching into that age category. In this graph out of 20 students asked, there are 11 seventeen year olds as the highest result, 7 eighteen year olds and 2 nineteen year olds.

This graph shows that students asked expect the magazine to entertain rather than inform. I think that a purpose of a magazine is to both entertain and inform however entertain a bit more. Not only my data supports that with 13 people who voted for entertain and 7 for inform, but a magazine should be easy to read and appealing to the eye. On the other hand, a newspaper should inform more than entertain.

By asking the audience how much they are willing to pay for the magazine, it will help set a realistic price for example the data suggests that 16 people out of 20 are willing to pay maximum of 1.50 and this should mean more copies should be sold. Stereotypically, students are low on money and therefore I think the price range between 11.50 would be the best option as the more affordable the magazine, if I chose to produce another magazine it would sell as well.

This graph being based on the fifth question of my survey, shows which article 20 asked students would like to read the most. On the left we have the amount of people and on the bottom there are 5 different magazine genres. This graph shows that out of 20 people who participated in this survey, the highest result was 7 and they would prefer the student magazine to be about music. The second highest result was sport at 5 people. Personally, I think the best selling magazine would be about music since it would appeal to a wider range of audience, aiming to satisfy both the male and female gender.

This graph is based on the sixth question in my survey and it shows which colour scheme people would prefer the student magazine to be. Out of 20 participants 8 would like the magazine to be pastel colours and in second place 5 would like it to be black and white. Although black and white would add classiness to it, pastel colours would stand out more.

This graph shows that 9/20 people would like the magazine to come out monthly. I agree and think that it should come out before the month starts because it is much more appealing, than receiving a magazine couple of weeks into the magazine particularly for current event magazines, it would also seem older than a magazine of your competitors.

My last graph represents what students would like the magazine to be called. The most popular choices were ‘student’ with 7 picks and ‘college entertainment’ with 6, ‘college gossip’ with 4 and ‘college news’ with 3. I agree with the most popular choice as it neutral and would be applicable to both sexes and any entertainment articles inside of it.
