This magazine is a monthly publication of eurOut.org, the leading website for European lesBian entertainment and political news in the English language. EurOut.org was launched in September 2008, and is now one of the most frequently visited sites on the web for gay women who are interested in European lesBian entertainment news, storylines on television, movies, music, events and political news. On a day-to-day basis eurOut.org provides thousands of readers with news, columns, in-depth articles, opinionated pieces and interviews. Readers also have the opportunity to connect with each other, to learn more about each other’s culture, environment and life, or to just have chats about the concerts they visited. Besides giving lesBians their much needed visibility, eurOut.org wants to create more understanding and solidarity among European lesBians, so that we can grow and develop into a European community that supports each other. Could it really be that sad? It would be a really interesting follow-up study. Let’s have a closer look at all girls who get into trouble with the law or at school and those who do not, and see if it’s girly behaviour that explains a big part of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if this were the case. I would also love to see studies like these for Western European teenagers. Do we find the same results or not at all? possible explanations. Most of these suggestions can be summed up as due to homophobia: getting punished for deviant behaviour or for being different. Other explanations do not seem very plausible: they focus on same-sex behaviour explanations even though it’s identification and attraction that is related to sanctions. They also wonder if it’s due to self-measures of identification, as if sexual orientation could ever be assessed by anyone but the person themselves.

Review: New Spanish Web Series ‘El Vlog de Greta’ When television isn’t showing us enough lesBians, the internet often comes to the rescue. Spain has just seen a new lesbian web series pop up: ‘El Vlog de Greta’. We watched the first episode and reviewed it for you. Austria The 14th Vienna Rainbow Ball (Wiener Regenbogen Ball) is taking place in Vienna on February 12. UK The dates for this year’s BFI London Gay and Lesbian Film Festival have been announced. The event will take place from March 31 until April 6. It’s going to be the 25th edition, so look out for something special. The festival’s official site can be found at bfi.org.uk/llgff. The GOGO Festival (that was formerly known as Lez Go Camping) will have an impressive line-up this year, including Uh Huh Her, BETTY and eurOut’s favourite Greymatter. The event will take place June 17 until 20 in Kent. Find out more at gogofestival. com.
Movies: Sweden A new Swedish movie entitled Kyss mig (Kiss Me) premiered at the Stockholm Film Festival last month, but the general release won’t be until August of this year. The movie tells the story of two girls who fall in love, but then find out they are going to be stepsisters. Seriously? UK Sam Fox will be starring as herself in “a sexy ‘coming of age’ British rock-band drama”, called Banned Girls. It’s a story of six young women brought together by a passion for music. Though not explicitly lesBian (not that we know of, anyway), one of the photos from the pilot does look promising, so we’ll definitely keep an eye on this title.
Malinda Lo’s second novel Huntress – the prequal/ companion novel to Ash - will be released in the UK in May of this year. No plans for other European countries just yet, but we’ll keep you informed.
Music: Skunk Anansie will be touring across most of Western Europe in February and so are K’s Choice, whose tour will continue until March. In addition, you can check out Steffi List in Germany in April. Want details? skunkanansie.net || kschoice.be || steffi-list.de.
France This month will see the DVD release of French movie Crime d’amour, a movie about two women who turn to crime and result to “perverse seduction and domination”. Luckily with each other, but it still sounds scary.

Lists Are Hot: 10 Songs by European LesBians After many months of movies, TV and web series-related Lists Are Hot columns, Natazzz thought it was time to devote one to music again. She selected 10 songs for you by European lesBians that she thought you might like. These are not supposed to be the best songs out there and they also do not represent all of her favourites. They are simply a selection of songs from 2010 and a number from previous years, all by queer female singers from By: Natazzz Europe. 1. Skunk Anansie – Secretly (UK,

Lesbian Life: Pets It’s a terrible cliché: every lesBian owns at least one pet as a placeholder for difficult-to-have kids. But, as we all know, every cliché has a base in truth. Long-Distance Relationships Love them or loathe them, it seems to be equally as stereotypical of us lesBians to embark on a long-distance relationship, as it is for us to U-Haul on the second date. So, why is it that we seem to be drawn to these relationships? Do they work? What are the good, the bad, and the ugly of being in these kinds of relationships? Ley tries to shed some light on this subject by sharing with you some of her own experiences. By: Ley
