INT R O DU C T I ON

Location // Taipei Da’an forest park Year // Spring 2014; National Taiwan Unversity Co-designer // Jarred Chen Due to the new Da’an Forest Park MRT station, users of Da’an Park now became more diverse. This project strengthen and connect the remaining parts of Da’an Park to adapt to the new way of usage. Also by adding art elements into the park, emphasis the beauty of the natute. Allowing the citizens to embrace themselves to Da’an Park and also Taipei city.

SITE ANALYSIS

The remaining routes are complicated for users to follow and it is easily get lost in the park.

Defined different area of use. There are playground, ecological pond, picnic area, outdoor stage, tropical theme garden, Banyan fig garden.

The new MRT station located at the north of Da’an Park. More users come from the north entrance.

Due to more users come from the north entrance, the desity of people in the park is unbalance.

Great number of chilldren gathered in the north part of the park.

By the side of city creek, created a sandy beach in central Taipei for citizens to enjoy, also solved the high density issue of the sandbox at the playground.

CIRCULATION BETWEEN THE GEARS Redesigning a bike parking space in NTU

Location // National Taiwan University Year // Spring 2014; National Taiwan Unversity Co-designer // Chen-Yu Chen Redesigning the old and worn-out bike parking space in National Taiwan University to create a better space for students. As bicycles becoming a famous image for the University, the issue of bicycle-parking is now a serious problem to the campus’ environment.

Lighting issue The original structure is worn-out and untransparent, causing the lack of lighting and forming a messy and dark bike parking space. Parking space circulation issue there are several entrances for bike parking and causing the complicated circulation issue. An important intersection point on the campus Surrounded by many important educational building and a student caffeteria.

DESIGN CONCEPT The concept of this project came from the gears inside the bicycles. Bicycles are owned by the majority students in National Taiwan University and they also became a vivid icon for NTU. Each student in NTU is an essential element not only to the university but also for the society in the future.

By putting transparent gear-form shelter into the space, to create a bright environment. Using the colors that specify for every college to represent the importance of each student in NTU.

Rearrange and simplify the circulation within the parking space. Create more space for bike parking, estimated 200 bikes.

Location // Xinsheng S. Road, Taipei Year // Spring 2014; National Taiwan Unversity Xinsheng S. Road renewal program is a major highlight for Taipei to become a World Design Capital in 2016. Sitting right next to National Taiwan University and one of the most cultural community “Wen-Ro-Din�, this project not only focus on renewing the street apperance , and also adding some character of the space.

DESIGN CONCEPT Surrounded by Xindian Creek and Mountain, Xinsheng S. road is a main traffic connection to central Taipei. The concept of “A Clean Well-lighted Place� is to create a space that continues the floating character of water and mountain, connecting the nature to the center of Taipei City. 22

A system of canals and irrigation ditches that once crisscrossed the city of Taipei named Liugongjun. Most of the canals were covered over by roads and streets in the 1970s due to increasing volumes of traffic and diminishing necessity of water transportation and irrigation. To remember the contribution of Liugongjun, this space sits a creek along the sidewalk,

On this side of Xinsheng S. road, there are many second hand bookstores creating a special environment for people to engage in.In this area a series of pattern that mimic the way books sit on the shelves. With quotes of several well known writers craved into the walkway, to create an atmosphere for people to feel like they are walking “on” a liberary.

As the density of users lower down in this section on Xinsheng S. Road, creek are replaced with green patches to continue the pattern and the landguage of design. 0
