As this par t of the site is the closest to Ta ipei Por t a rea , na tura l elements a re set here to alter the visual impact by Taipei Por t. And aff orestation occurs here to block the disadvantage vie w of Taipei Por t. The purpose of the existing water storage area on site is to store clean and processed water before it exile into Taiwan Trait. Transforming it into a wetland gives it an advantage use for recreational and educational purpose.

In t he mi ddle p ar t of the s ite, a natural c ur ve occurs along the shore and gives it an advantage of developing into a pier. The pier will be able to provide water transpor tation to the right bank of Tamsui River and any other destination along the river. Linked with the connecting bridge, this par t of the site will be intensive with the usage. Thus, deri ve from the image of Taipei Por t, using the elements of shipping container to design a container city of ar t will increase the possibility for users to spend some time on the site.

The idea of container city is to bring the image of por t culture into the site by transforming shipping containers into a variation kind of space. Between disconstr ucting and reforming, many ideas and possibilities are generated and therefore forming a village/city of shipping containers. Th ese spaces welcome many kinds of small business including ar tist studio, cafe, workshop, etc. B ot h different

The main purpose of connecting bridge is to connect the urban park with surrounding area, hoever, it has more to offer.... Bali se wage disposal area was once a controversial issue back in the days. Since the area was the remain site of She-san-hang Ruins, which contains abundant archeological evidence for Taiwanese archeology, when Bali Se wage Disposal Area was about to built, a serious conflict bursted out between Taipei city government and the archeologists. This connecting bridge, cross ing over the se wage disposal area, represents a hea ling symbol between people and government. Fur ther more, it represents the hope that there should not be any disagreement between each other in the future.

I’d like to r ethink the planning by emphas izing on s ocial as pect af ter the pr oject is f inis hed f or over two year s of ti m e. T he park was created in 1994 after the eviction of longtime s q u atter s and the demolition of illeg al bu ilding s on mu nici pal land. Daan For es t Par k was intended to play a s imilar r ole as other major city par k s s u ch as New Yor k City's Centr al Par k and L ondon's Hyde Par k , acting as the "lu ng s of Taipei city" and as r es pite f or r es idents f r om the bu s tle of lif e in Taipei. Similar to the lar g e par k s of other cities, Daan Par k is s u r r ou nded by hig h pr ice lu x u r y condomini u ms that f etch a pr emiu m du e to their des ir able v iews. As it once br ou g ht ou t a s er iou s dis ag r eement between the ci ty g over n m en t a n d th e p r e v i o u s r e s i d en ts, a q u e s ti o n dawn on me that whether the ev iction of pr ev iou s r es ident is to benef it all citizens or mainly the r ich? A pu blic s pace s hou ld be a place f or ever y citizens withou t r eg ar ding its s ocial s tatu s. As a s patial des ig ner, I think the s u r r ou nding ar ea s hou ld be cons ider ed as well to develop a s ocial s u s tainable city.

Create a creek to highlight the main route in Da’an park. City Creek also performed as rain garden for drainage.

By the side of city creek, created a sandy beach in central Taipei for citizens to enjoy, also solved the high density issue of the sandbox at the playground.
