C O MM UNI TY OP E N H OU S E San Francisco Opera hosted its second Community Open House at the War Memorial Opera House on November 9, 2013. The event was free and open to the public and featured activities and demonstrations for all ages. The event also provided an opportunity for the community to explore the historic Opera House, which opened in 1932. Throughout the day, thousands of children and families participated in free events and activities stationed on every level of the Opera House. On the main stage, the public watched the Opera Orchestra, Chorus and soloists perform excerpts from The Barber of Seville, led by Resident Conductor Giuseppe Finzi and Chorus Director Ian Robertson. 2013 Adler Fellows Laura Krumm and Joo Won Kang were the featured soloists. Elsewhere in the Opera House, the community attended singalongs, stage combat workshops and costume and wig and makeup demonstrations. Other activities included arts and crafts stations and a costume photo booth.
