ANCIENT JADE Ancient jade artefacts from the Collection of Mr P. Bertuzzi. Mr Bertuzzi, an industrialist and refined collector and connoisseur of Oriental art, in particular Chinese and African art, has honoured us by consigning to auction his prestigious collection of archaic and Neolithic jades. China as a country is to be considered a cultural mosaic and the history of art in China boasts a prestigious tradition. The curiosity of the Chinese has always focused on the intrinsic qualities of a material, on the exploration of its possibilities and the changes from one material to another. The most significant example is jade, considered from Neolithic times as the most precious substance par excellence. It was considered a dream stone that had supernatural powers and that, for its hardness, colour, feel and resonance, has always been used in rituals and in prestigious religious and social events, both in the world of the living and in that of the dead. The jade artefacts presented in this session of the auction, to be held on15th September 2015, are objects of exceptional quality, rarity and beauty.
