"Young people may find the Faroese time perspective old-fashioned and boring. I experience the opposite." Hans Engel, former minister, Denmark
Tour 3:
The best of the Faroe Islands The Faroe Islands was recently chosen by the National Geographic Traveler as the world’s most appealing islands. They earned high marks for being genuine and unspoilt and for the fact that they were likely to remain so. They were also praised for having a strong cultural integrity, superb green landscape and a well preserved nature. We are proud to be able to welcome you to the Faroe Islands. Monday: Arrive with Atlantic Airways to Vágar Airport. Collect your hire car. We suggest a short drive to the village of Gásadalur which was the last village to be connected to the road infrastructure. Enjoy the stillness and the view across to Tindhólm. From the village of Sandavágur you can see the Trøllkonufingur cliff, also known as Kongespiret. Overnight accommodation on Vágoy. Tuesday: Day trip to Mykines. See at close hand the impressive gannets that only breed on Mykinesholm and the charming puffins with the colourful beaks. You must cross a footbridge over the Atlantic Ocean in order to come out to Mykinesholm and the lighthouse. You can buy coffee at the Kristianshus café back in the village. Overnight accommodation on Vágoy. Wednesday: On arrival in Suðuroy, you will be met by a local guide who will take you on a tour of this wonderful island which is rich in history and unforgettable views. Enjoy a lovely lunch midday. Overnight on Suðuroy. Thursday: The day is free to explore, visit the local tourist office for information and walking maps. Enjoy a coffee in the Gl. Kongelige Handel (historic royal shop) or Pub and Café, also called Pubbin and the Seglloftið in Tvøroyri. These are all historic buildings that were originally Danish monopoly shops. Overnight accommodation on Suðuroy. Friday: Walk through the old part of Tórshavn. You will find the Government’s main building, which also houses the Prime Minister’s office, at the tip of Tinganes. Also in this area is the charming part called Reyn, an historic area where you can explore the small alleyways between the grassroofed houses. Overnight accommodation in Tórshavn.
Saturday: Take the ferry to the neighbouring island of Nólsoy. Life moves at a slow pace in this little village with wide open spaces. You will be met by a local guide who, amongst other things, will show you Ro Ove’s boat the Diana Victoria. Ro Ove is a local hero who rowed single-handed to Langelinje in Denmark to kiss the Little Mermaid! Enjoy lunch in the little coffee house before returning to Tórshavn. Visit the historic cultural centre of Kirkjubø in the afternoon. Overnight accommodation in Tórshavn. Sunday: Drive to the Northern Islands. The first you come to is Borðoy, home to Klaksvík, the most important fishing port. We suggest that you continue to the village of Viðareiði on Viðoy. In the afternoon there is an excursion from the village of Hvannasund to the rough mountains, an extreme adventure at sea where you will come close to the islands of Svínoy, Fugloy or Europe’s tallest promontory Enniberg. Overnight accommodation in Klaksvík. Monday: Explore Klaksvík or take the ferry to the island of Kalsoy, popularly known as “the recorder”, a strange name that stems from the 12 km long road that passes through 4 tunnels connecting the island’s four villages. From the village of Trollanes is a fantastic walk to the lighthouse on the northern tip of Kalsoy. Overnight accommodation in Klaksvík. Tuesday: Visit the fish auction in Toftir, then Navia, the charming wool shop where you will find woollen products designed in the latest fashion. Before lunch, there is a visit to the charming old rectory in the village of Nes. A light lunch is served at the Hotel Runavík. Overnight accommodation on Eysturoy. Wednesday: Enjoy the day in Gjógv, known for its distinctive natural harbour. There is an opportunity to take a 2 hour walk, without guide, but with a map that describes the route in short stories. Enjoy the impressive view of the cliffs. Overnight accommodation on Eysturoy. Thursday: On the drive back to the airport, we suggest you stop north of Eiði to see the famous view of “Risin og Kellingin”, two free-standing cliffs, that according to legend, were a couple who turned to stone when they tried to move the Faroe Islands to Iceland! You will also pass the Faroe Islands highest mountain Slættaratindur (882m). Deliver the hire car in time for your departure with Atlantic Airways.

Visit the taxidermist Jens Kjeld, who has an extensive collection of stuffed Faroese birds and see what is left of the house where a Scottish princess once lived. The Faroe Islands, a stepping stone on the Viking trail. A verdant home for birds, sheep and humans just as they were over 1000 years ago when the first Norwegian Vikings settled on the islands. Iceland, where the Icelandic people are still proud to speak the ancient Viking language, but don’t imagine for one minute that they still live in the past – as you will discover. South Greenland, a region of contrasts, wellknown for its blossoming plains, fertile valleys, icy fjords, countless glaciers, mountainous landscapes rich in minerals and the place where Vikings settled. Day 1: Arrive in the Faroe Islands and collect your hire car at the airport. Overnight in Tórshavn. Day 2: Guided walk around Tinganes, the oldest part of Tórshavn. The name comes from when the Vikings first held a parliament here. From Vestmanna, an excursion to the Vestmanna bird cliffs, sailing alongside the rock face and into some of the grottoes. You can stop at the Viking settlement in the village of Kvívík on your way back to Tórshavn. Day 3: Enjoy the day at your own pace; we suggest you drive to the village of Gjógv. See Slættaratindur (882m), the highest mountain in the Faroes and the rock formations known as the “Giant and the Old Hag”. From Gjógv you can take a 2 hour walk and if you have time, continue to the beautiful village of Viðareiði on the island of Borðoy. Day 4: Deliver the hire car at the airport for departure to Iceland. - Arrive in Reykjavík and transfer to your accom-
modation in Reykjavík. Day 5: Enjoy the day on your own in Reykjavík and a visit to the fantastic Blue Lagoon where the warm water and natural minerals relax body and soul. Day 6: Full-day excursion called “The Golden Circle” where you walk in the famous Geyser area, see the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss and visit the national park Thingvellir, where the Vikings held their parliament. Day 7: Transfer to the airport for departure to Greenland. - Arrive in Greenland and transfer by boat from Narsarsuaq to accommodation in Qaqortoq. Day 8: Free to explore Qaqortoq which is the largest town in south Greenland. See the sculptures and Greenland’s oldest fountain and make sure you don’t miss the activity when the day’s catch of fish, seal and whale is being sold. Day 9: Excursion by boat to the ruins of Hvalsø Church which stems from Scandinavian times. The boat continues to Igaliku, perfectly situated on a green and luscious plain. Day 10: Walking tour along the “King’s road” from Igaliku to Itilleq. The road was named after the visit of Frederik IX in 1952. Boat transfer from Itilleq to Qassiarsuk, also known as Brattahlid, the place where Erik the Red settled in 982. Day 11: The sailing trip in the Qooroq Ice fjord is an absolutely unforgettable journey through icebergs of all shapes, sizes and colours. With the engine turned off and a fantastic view of the glacier, you can enjoy a drink in the peace and quiet with more than 1000 year old inland ice! Departure to Iceland. Overnight in Iceland. Day 12: Departure to Copenhagen.

Tour 9:
icebergs, hot springs and dramatic nature Greenland: Ilulissat (Jacobshavn) is the largest town in the Disko bay and is known for its ice fjord. It is not surprising that the town has this name as the Greenlandic word Ilulissat means Ice Mountain. The ice can be experienced in several ways, for example on foot to the former settlement Sermermiutdalen or by boat to the active glacier Eqi Sermia.
Day 3: Sailing trip through some of the mighty icebergs in the Ice fjord south of Ilulissat. Day 4: Free to explore, option of booking an extra excursion from your accommodation, such as an easy hike to the beautiful valley Sermermiut or a boat trip to Eqi Sermia. The impressive sounds of the glacier and the sight of huge pieces of ice tumbling into the sea, is truly breath-taking.
Iceland: The majority of Iceland’s population lives in Reykjavik and this is reflected in an international yet local atmosphere. There is a wealth of cultural institutions, fashionable shops, second-hand shops, local cafés and all kinds of music. Iceland’s nature is intense with hot springs and a volcanic landscape.
Day 5: Transfer to airport for flight from Ilulissat to Reykjavík. Transfer to accommodation. Day 6: Visit the Blue Lagoon and relax in the warm, mineral rich thermal water. Day 7: Full day excursion called “The Golden Circle” where you can walk in the famous Geyser area, see the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss and visit the national park Thingvellir. Day 8: Free day with option of booking an extra excursion from your accommodation such as, a 4x4 Super jeep Express tour, city walk or riding on Icelandic horses. Day 9: Transfer to airport for flight to Vágar. Transfer to accommodation. Day 10: Walking in Tórshavn, taking in the charming parts of the old town called Tinganes and Reyn. Light lunch. Day 11: With driver guide driving through beautiful landscape to visit the villages Tjørnuvík and charming Gjógv where lunch is served. Opportunity tasting Faroese specialities. Day 12: Free day with option of booking extra excursions such as, an ATV ride, visit with a local family or a sailing trip to the Vestmanna bird cliffs. Day 13: Transfer to the airport for flight to Copenhagen.
The Faroe Islands: Tórshavn is the capital with a charming mix of the old and new. Experience up close the rich birdlife and its delightful sounds; see the green nuances of the mountains, the colourful villages, dramatic vertical cliffs up to 600m high and the neighbouring islands which rise majestically on the horizon. As the weather changes from brilliant sunshine and blue seas to misty vistas, you can sometimes feel as though you are in a fairytale world. Day 1: Fly from Copenhagen to Ilulissat (change flight in Kangerlussuaq). Transfer to accommodation and free rest of the day. Day 2: Guided walk through the town, see Knud Rasmussen’s birthplace and enjoy lunch. Opportunity tasting Greenlandic specialities.

General terms and conditions Arrangement The activities and tours in this brochure are arranged by GreenGate Incoming / Atlantic Airways in cooperation with local tour operators. Registration Agreements are binding on both parties once the deposit or the payment required by an agency is paid on time. When paying the deposit, clients moreover confirm that they accept the terms and conditions of the product purchased as stated in writing and/or in the brochure. Deposit A deposit of DKK 1.000 / Euro 135 per person must be paid upon registration unless otherwise stated in connection with the tour in question. If the deposit is not paid within the stated time-limit, the agreement will lapse. Final payment The remaining amount must be paid no later than six weeks before the date of departure unless otherwise stated. If the package tour is booked less than six weeks prior to departure, then payment must be made at the latest, 3 days after confirmation. These conditions apply unless otherwise stated. You will then receive your tickets and other travel documents no later than approx. one week before departure. Prices The basic price includes the services stated for the destination in question. Any extra charges for special services are also stated for the individual destination. Children’s discount Please contact GreenGate Incoming or your travel agency. Changes Unless otherwise stated the following applies: More than 30 days before departure: A service fee of DKK 550 / Euro 75 per person will be charged for changes to flights and tours on the ground. This does not apply to peak season and public holidays, when cancellation is not possible once a tour has been confirmed. Changes at a later time will be considered a cancellation and a new booking. Please contact your travel agency if you have any questions. Cancellation Unless otherwise stated the following applies: More than 4 weeks prior to departure: The amount paid will be refunded less DKK 3.000 / Euro 406 per person. Between 4 and 2 weeks prior to departure: 50% of the tour price will be refunded*. Less than 2 weeks prior to departure: The traveller is not entitled to a refund. * This does not apply to peak season and public holidays, when cancellation is not possible once a tour has been confirmed. NB! If a package event, a hotel reservation or a flight ticket is subject to strict cancellation terms, such terms will apply and will be advised upon reservation. Cancellation due to sudden illness We recommend that you take out a sickness/cancellation insurance from your travel agency to cover the cancellation costs if it proves impossible or extremely difficult to participate in tours due to death or sudden illness/accidents requiring admission to hospital, periods in bed prescribed by a doctor or similar problems involving you or your spouse/partner, parents, parents in- law, children, grandchildren, siblings, grandparents, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law or travelling companions. This protection only applies if a medical report is presented no later than one week after the cancellation. The insurance premium is 5 per cent of the risk (minimum DKK 75 / Euro 11) and must be paid together with the deposit. If you fail to submit a medical report or your cancellation is due to other reasons, the standard cancellation rules apply. Travel insurance In general the traveller is responsible for covering the costs of illness, admission to hospital etc. during a tour – unless the operator can be held responsible. Consequently, we strongly advise you to take out travel insurance covering the costs of accidents or death, treatment of illnesses, transport home and loss/ damage of luggage, etc. Liability of the airlines The airlines involved accept no liability for incidents occurring when passengers are not on board the plane of the airline concerned. For liability regarding checked-in luggage, please see the terms and conditions of the airline concerned. Liability of the clients The client must carry a valid passport. The client is liable for giving the correct information and his/her name in full according to his/her passport information and to other travel document information. A charge of DKK 550 / Euro 75 must be paid if the name needs to be changed after booking. Upon receipt of tickets and travel documents, clients should check that the first and last names on the ticket, passport and other travel documents are correct and identical. The name on the flight ticket must be the same as the name on the passport, or clients may be turned away at the check-in desk. The travel agency is not liable for any consequences arising owing to the submission of incorrect information by clients.
Complaints Any complaints during the tour must be made to Atlantic Airways or GreenGate Incoming immediately, so thaterrors/defects can be rectified immediately and with the least possible inconvenience to clients. If you wish to make a subsequent complaint or claim, you should obtain documented evidence and contact GreenGate Incoming as soon as possible and at the latest, 2 weeks after arriving home. Discount flight tickets If you wish to benefit from the many types of cheap tickets available on the market, combining these tickets for various sections of the tour, such tickets must always be issued in separate documents. In many cases such tickets cannot be cancelled, changed and/or refunded. This means that you bear the risk if you are unable to catch your next flight/connection, e.g. due to delays. Neither the travel agency nor the airlines involved accept any liability for the cost of new tickets, accommodation etc. occuring in this event. Departure times in the travel timetable & tickets The times stated in the tickets and travel timetable are always local times. After the fl ight tickets and the travel timetable have been issued, time changes may occur (often on 1 April and 1 November when the airlines change their times of departure and arrival and when passing to/from summer time). Therefore you should always check the departure times stated in the travel documents that you have received. Please contact the travel agency immediately if the times differ from the original booking/confi rmation, so any mistakes can be rectified before departure. Check-in time We recommend that you check the check-in times when you arrive at the airport of your departure. Information from GreenGate Incoming or the airlines about departure gates and terminals is only intended as a guide and is not binding. Situations may occur where it may be necessary to change the departure from one gate/terminal to another. You should therefore always check the gate/ terminal, especially when changing planes with little time to spare. Taxes and duties A number of taxes have to be stated on the actual flight ticket. However, some airport or other tourist taxes have to be paid in cash upon departure or at the destination, so these cannot be claimed before leaving home. Usually such taxes will be stated in your travel documents. However, countries may introduce new taxes or increase existing ones at little or no notice. Taxes may change between the date of booking and the date of departure, or between the date of departure and the date of your return journey. Passport, visa, vaccinations, etc. Nordic citizens need to bring their passport but they do not need a visa or special vaccinations when travelling to the Faroe Islands. If visa/vaccinations are required, this will be stated in our offer or in our confirmation. For practical reasons, citizens of non-Nordic countries should seek information on the demands made on citizens of their specific country when travelling to the Faroe Islands. Moreover when you book you must inform us if your group includes members with citizenships other than your own. This will enable us to give you the appropriate advice. The operator is not liable for any consequences that the absence of travel documents etc. may have if you fail to inform the travel agency of such issues. Please note that transit visas are often required. Passports from countries outside the EU must normally be valid for at least six months after arrival at the destination.
Price changes after the agreement is made The prices are based on the current duties, tariffs and currencies applicable in August 2010. GreenGate Incoming / Atlantic Airways reserves the right to make price changes after the agreement is made. Price increases may be necessary due to changes in transport costs, including fuel prices, taxes, duties or charges for certain services such as airport, landing or take-off charges. Any price changes must be announced as soon as possible and no later than 20 days prior to departure and cannot exceed 10% of the advertised price of the tour in question. Failure to observe these conditions entitles the client to cancel the tour at no cost. However, GreenGate Incoming / Atlantic Airways must be informed of any such cancellation immediately after the client has been informed of the price increase. In case of any fall in prices owing to reductions in the factors mentioned above, clients will be informed immediately. If there are reductions within 20 days of the departure, clients are not entitled to claim a price reduction. However, if domestic public taxes or duties are reduced or removed with effect prior to the date of departure, GreenGate Incoming / Atlantic Airways are obliged to refund the amount concerned to the client if the amount exceeds DKK 100 / Euro 14. Other terms and conditions The tours are carried out in accordance with the rules of the Association of Danish Travel Agents and Tour Operators (Danmarks Rejsebureau Forening) and the Danish Consumer Council (Forbrugerrådet) governing participation in package tours, which are available on demand. We cannot be held liable for printing errors and price changes owing to changes in the purchasing conditions. The price list is effective as of August 2010. Jurisdiction/applicable law Any claim against GreenGate Incoming / Atlantic Airways will be settled according to Danish Law. Complaints or law suits which cannot be settled by the Danish Travel Complaints Council (Rejseankenævnet) will be settled by the Copenhagen Maritime and Commercial Court (Sø- og Handelsretten). A reservation is made in respect of any typing errors, and prices are subject to change. Technical operator:
