College For Kids (CFK)

College for Kids (CFK) is a program with engaging instructors where students can experience being on the college campus in a safe environment, learning in the same classrooms that are used by college students while having fun. College for Kids provides academic day camp activities for children ages 10-14 during the summer, where students can attend classes in arts, crafts, science, engineering, technology, robotics, sports & much more. GRRATE Summer Institutes

Come out to the many Santa Fe College locations to participate in a 8-day summer program. The Summer Institutes is a research project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to increase student interest in STEM Technician careers and to improve student math skills. As a participant in this research project students will gain hands-on experience while also working to improve math skills.

Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo

About The Zoo

Visit the zoo this Spring to celebrate Earth Day at Party for the Planet on April 19 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and learn how you can spring into action to preserve wild animals and their habitats.

The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, a unique 10-acre zoo in Gainesville, Florida, is the only zoo on a college campus accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) in the nation. Not only is the zoo open to our community and showcases an array of native and exotic animals, but it is also a learning lab for students in the Zoo Animal Technology program.

The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo strives to uphold our mission of improving the future for wildlife, both locally and internationally, by building partnerships within our community and abroad and develop strategies for supporting wildlife and wild places. Since 2010, the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo has donated almost $140,000 to organizations working on the front lines to conserve wild animals and their habitats. The zoo has also actively participated in recovery programs for Guam rails, Florida Grasshopper Sparrows, and Perdido Key Beach Mice.

Conservation in Action: The Role of Zoos in Protecting Wildlife

In this course, explore the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo’s conservation efforts both locally and globally. Learn about the zoo’s role in protecting endangered species, preserving habitats, and supporting sustainable practices. Engage with animal ambassadors and meet the dedicated zookeepers who care for them. Discover how the zoo community works together to protect wildlife and wild places, combining education, research, and hands-on conservation.

Lore and History of the Ocklawaha River *

On this kayak/canoe trip we’ll explore the fascinating and often quirky lore of some plants and animals growing along this wild, scenic river. Today, the river is a world of egrets, herons, gators and other wildlings, but an Indian mound and a steamboat landing, both of which we’ll visit, attest to a colorful human history.
