For most, a bachelor’s degree at SF is the next step after obtaining an A.A. or A.S. degree. The bachelor’s degree usually takes at least two more years to complete. It allows a student to build skills, and advance in a chosen career field. Santa Fe College offers bachelor degrees that focus on everything from early childhood education to industrial biotechnology.

An Associate in Arts degree is specifically designed to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program. A.A. seeking students typically work with an adviser on a specific advisement track geared toward their plans to transfer. The track includes general education courses as well as classes the transfer program requires. The A.A. degree generally takes two years to complete.

Financial aid helps students and their families pay for college. This financial assistance helps cover educational expenses and related costs. There are several types of financial aid, including grants and scholarships, work study positions and loans. Some types, like scholarships, can require additional applications and searches.

PLACEMENT TESTING The Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) will asses your academic skills in math, reading and writing – don’t worry, it’s not a pass/fail exam. The results are used to determine placement into the right courses at Santa Fe College.

An Associate in Science degree program is designed to get you ready for a career. In some cases, such as nursing, students can also transfer into a bachelor’s program. A.S. programs are a good balance of general education course work, and hands-on training. The end goal is to prepare you to enter the workforce with a competitive skill set.

Vocational certification programs range in length from six months to two years. These programs focus less on general education and more on developing specific job skills. VC programs are a great option for students who want to get to work quickly, or for those who are already working in-field and wish to develop new skills or advance their career.

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS One of the most important things students can do while attending Santa Fe College is to get involved and stay connected. Student Life is committed to creating and supporting opportunities for involvement, leadership, and service on campus and in the community. Student Life offices are located on the first floor of Building-S.

The Santa Fe College Career Resource Center maintains informational resources to assist students in choosing career goals, majors, colleges and life directions and to learn the steps that lead toward those goals. It offers computerized assessments of a person’s interests, values, personality and other relevant factors.
