- SPECIAL DESTINATIONS Pump Track Northwest Community Park 2880 West Steele Lane Take a ride on the pump track at Northwest Community Park! The name comes from the pumping action used by the rider’s body to propel motion. The track is open seven days a week for the enjoyment of all, weather permitting. It is maintained by Redwood Empire Trail Alliance & TREK Santa Rosa through Rec & Parks’ Adopt-A-Green Space Program.

Redwood Empire Live Steamers Interactive Museum Youth Community Park 1701 Fulton Rd. First weekend of the month, May-October $1 per ride - donation requested Jump aboard the mini-train at Youth Community Park operated by this nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to preserving Sonoma County's railroad history through the re-creation, in miniature, of railroad equipment and historic landmarks. - SPECIAL DESTINATIONS Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery 1600 Franklin Ave • srcity.org/ruralcemetery • 707-543-3279 Open Daily, Sunrise to Sunset This 17-acre historic landmark located in the heart of Santa Rosa was a burial site for early residents, primarily from the 1850s to 1930s. Volunteers restored the cemetery from decades of neglect. Burial plot maps and self-guided tour brochures are available at the kiosks and online at SantaRosaRec.com. Rural Cemetery History Tour Sat, 7/10 at 10am, 10:20am, 10:40am & 11am Pre-registration required - Free A walking tour through the gravesites with attention to Santa Rosa’s early residents’ history. Tours depart from the Franklin Gate and last approximately 60-90 minutes. Pre-registration is required. The tour is free, donations are appreciated. Note: uneven surfaces and slopes. McDonald Avenue Tour Sat, 8/14 at 10am, 10:20am, 10:40am & 11am Pre-registration required - Free Visit the McDonalds graves, then proceed down McDonald Avenue to view and discuss the historic homes and their early residents. Volunteer with Recreation & Parks There are a variety of ways to get involved in our parks and programs through volunteering. VOLUNTEER WITH LUTHER BURBANK HOME & GARDENS If you love learning about gardens, local history, antiques, nature and meeting interesting people from around the world, become a Luther Burbank Home & Gardens volunteer. Help plan events and work on special projects, plus enjoy exclusive volunteer appreciation events! For more information, visit lutherburbank.org. VOLUNTEER WITH SANTA ROSA RURAL CEMETERY The Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery is volunteeroperated and maintained. If you would like to support this historical gem, join a volunteer workday on the third Saturday of each month, maintain a plot through the Adopt-A-Plot program, join the Rose Brigade or serve on the Preservation Committee. Those are just some of the ways to volunteer! ORGANIZE A PARK PROJECT OR CLEAN UP Volunteer workdays and special projects are limited to our existing volunteer groups as we move through the COVID recovery process. - YOUTH Fitness & Sports BEGINNER RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS Sessions: 6/9-6/30; 7/7-7/28; 8/4-8/25 Wed, 2-3pm • Ages 4-6 $34-$44 (4 classes) Learn the beautiful sport of rhythmic gymnastics with ropes, hoops, balls and ribbons. Class includes floor work to increase flexibility and strength, basic acrobatics skills, jumps, leaps, turns and balances, hand eye coordination and dance. All equipment provided. What to wear: Fitted clothing that allows movement (leotard, shorts, leggings etc). Long hair pulled back from the face. Contract Instructor: Thea Torgerson INTERMEDIATE RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS Sessions: 6/9-6/30; 7/7-7/28; 8/4-8/25 Wed, 3:30-5pm • Ages 6-12 $50-$60 (4 classes) Students with or without gymnastics experience work with ropes, hoops, ball, clubs and ribbon. Students learn acrobatic skills, flexibility, balance and posture, jumps and leaps, dance and musicality. What to wear: Leotard (dance or gymnastics leotard). Shorts or leggings ok. No baggy clothes. Longer hair must be pulled back. Socks, toe shoes or bare feet. Contract Instructor: Thea Torgerson ADVANCED RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS Sessions: 6/9-6/30; 7/7-7/28; 8/4-8/25 Wed, 3:30-6pm • Ages 9-16 $84-94 (4 classes) For gymnasts with experience in beginner and intermediate gymnastics classes. Fitness & Sports EMPIRE JUNIORS CO-ED VOLLEYBALL Tue OR Thu, 6/8-7/22, 4-5pm • Ages 8-11 Epicenter (3215 Coffey Lane) $175-$185 (8 classes) This introduction to the game of volleyball presents basic techniques and game play. EMPIRE MIGHTY MITES CO-ED VOLLEYBALL Wed, 6/2-7/21, 4-5pm • Ages 4-7 Epicenter (3215 Coffey Lane) $160-$170 (8 classes) To engage our youngest athletes, we keep this group moving non-stop in a fun and fast paced setting. Adaptive training tools are used to build eye-hand coordination including softer, smaller balls. Young athletes will feel the excitement of real training and game play without having to do things that their bodies aren't ready for just yet. - YOUTH Special Interest BICYCLING WORKSHOPS Join the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition for bicycling workshops filled with safety skills, rules of the road, tips, tricks, and more! Classes are taught by Bicycle Coalition staff and are offered for kids, teens, and families.

June 8 - Aug 5*, Tue/Thu, 1-2:30pm Ages 6-12 Person Sr Wing/Rm 26 $280-$290 (16 classes) Children will discover techniques of the great masters by analyzing art pieces from Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, and Matisse and recreate a representation of the art piece. ART PROCESS: NEST BUILDING June 23 - July 2, Wed/Fri, 1-2:30pm • Ages 6-12 Person Sr Wing/Rm 26 $96-$106 (8 classes) A bird nest is a symbol of home representing love, warmth and safety. Through the experience of molding a nest from clay or creating it out of materials found in nature, children will learn about the importance of a nest in the natural world. Join the first lucky ones of the day to ride the train and carousel, and visit the animal barn. We start our journey with the imagination of story time followed by a train adventure in the back woods the park. Next take a spin on the carousel and wrap up this special time with a trip to visit the baby animals housed in our own animal barn.

Traditional Day Camps Join the generations who have grown up with Traditional Day Camps by Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks! For over 50 years, we’ve introduced children to recreational experiences, provided leadership skills, fostered new friendships and created special time in Santa Rosa’s beautiful city parks. Our Traditional Day Camps embrace the outdoors and nature with activities such as archery, swimming, canoeing (Wa-Tam only), hiking, songs, games, skits and nature projects. Camps are staffed by local high school and college students who have literally grown up in our programs! This year's camp programs are once modified and rebranded as “Summer Daze” and honor all COVID-19 safety protocols. Sign up for weekly sessions June 14 - August 12.

Youth Community Park 1700 Fulton Rd Youth Park across from Piner High School offers a rustic setting next to a creek for this outdoor adventure camp. Crafts, games, skits, songs, archery, swimming at Finley Aquatic Center, nature projects, and field trips are among the highlights.
Howarth Community Park 630 Summerfield Rd Spend a week in beautiful Howarth Park with new friends and activities such as canoeing, archery, nature and craft projects, and hiking to Spring Lake for an afternoon of swimming.

Traditional Day Camps Summer Daze Camp Wa-Tam & Summer Daze Yu-Chi Multiple Sessions : June 14 – August 12 M-Th, 8:30am-5:00pm Ages: 6-12 (5 ½ if entering 1st grade in Fall 2021) $190-$200 *Select session and either Camp Yu-Chi or Camp WaTam upon registering.
Camp Sessions & Themes Session 1: 6/14-6/17 • Fun on the Frontier Participants will engage in a variety of western themed activities including games, crafts, nature activities, stories, skits, songs, a visit from Ranger Steve's wildlife show, and much more! Session 2: 6/21-6/24 • Stupendous Shark Week! Mermaids, shells, fish, whales, and don't forget SHARKS await us as campers explore life under the sea through games, nature and craft projects. Session 3: 6/28-7/1 • Cave Dwellers Journey back to the “Land Before Time” when your counselors lived in caves and dinosaurs roamed the land. Prehistoric-themed games, crafts and nature activities round out the week, along with Wildmind Science Learning's famous reptile show featuring a boa, a python and a monitor lizard!
Session 4: 7/5-7/8 • Lights, Camera, CAMP! Future directors, actors and producers step right up for some Camp Theater! A variety show is planned in which the campers are the stars! Creativity will abound with props, costumes, special effects, and a guest performance by a magician! Session 5: 7/12-7/15 • Supeduper Hero Week Is it a bird? A Plane? No! It’s those wacky and wild counselors! Crafts and group games highlight your child’s favorite Super Heroes! Session 6: 7/19-7/22 • SUNsational Science Break out your sunscreen and get ready to celebrate the sun through science and fun! Campers enjoy creative science-based art projects that involve the summer sun and their own imaginations. Plus, Wildminds Science Learning brings their “Bay Area Wild” animal show to town!

Traditional Day Camps Session 7: 7/26-7/29 • Pirate Week Join the camp staff as they hoist the sails and swab the decks on a journey of the seven seas! Campers spend the week in search of the hidden treasure and return home with tales of their exploits! Session 8: 8/2-8/5 • Jammin’ In Da Jungle! Lions and tigers and Bears Oh My! Get your gear ready as we delve into the deepest, darkest jungles that Santa Rosa City Parks have to offer. You may not see a tiger, but Ranger Steve might have a Mountain Lion up his sleeve when he brings his Wildmind Science Learning program to town! Session 9: 8/9-8/12 • Mystery Week Wa-Tam Only Campers will become detectives as they try to solve the big camp mystery! A lesson from Sherlock Holmes and plenty of clues will help keep campers on their toes! A hike to Spring Lake for an afternoon of swimming, canoeing and archery will round out this final mystery week of camp!
REFUNDS, FEES & REMINDERS A full refund is provided if cancelation is received 7 days prior to first day of camp. 25% cancellation fee charged if less than 7 days. No refunds after 5pm Thu. before camp begins. Pick up children on time; $5 late fee for each 15-minutes late. - YOUTH CAMPS Specialty Day Camps - Art, Dance & Drama A FAIRY’S LIFE ART CAMP 6/7-6/10, Mon-Thu, 9:30am-3:30pm Ages 7-12 Finley/Willow Rm $233-$243 (4 classes) Presenting mixed-media art using papers, cardboard, paint, clay, organic materials, and recyclable objects to create a four-inchtall fairy figure and its home, as well as a personally written and illustrated watercolor book. ONLINE 3-D ILLUSION ART (VIRTUAL CAMP) 6/21-6/25, Mon-Fri, 9am-12pm • Ages 12+ Online $180-190 (5 classes) In this class we will look at some amazing 3-D Illusion art and learn how to create these illusions on paper! We will sketch with pencil and use colored pencils and markers for coloring in and shading. You will need the following art materials: art pad (letter size), pencil, separate eraser, sharpener, set of markers, set of colored pencils, ruler (minimum 12 inches). THE ART OF HAND SEWING CAMP 6/14-6/17, Mon-Thu, 9:30am-3:30pm Ages 7-12 Finley/Willow Rm $233-$243 (4 classes) Perfect for sewing newcomers and as the next step for those who have hand-sewn or used a sewing machine. An in-class sewing machine is provided or bring your own. Projects include a pin cushion, bookmark in felt with embroidery, and applique, stuffed animal and personal pillow. All project supplies are included. Bring a snack and sack lunch. Specialty Day Camps - Gurus Educational Virtual Camps BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN PUBLIC SPEAKING AND WRITING SUPERHEROES THEME Multiple Sessions 6/7-8/6*, Mon-Fri, 3:30-5pm Ages 7-10 & 9-13 Online $179-$189 (5 Dates) Confidence is my superpower! The “Superheroes” theme-based activities, speech and debate topics make a fun learning environment for kids. Students do tongue-twister challenges, storytelling, poems, games, debates, and presentations with props and dress up. Children learn to present with confidence, use emotion, and connect with the audience fluently. Shy students and talkative ones alike will benefit and learn from this class.
SMART MONEY AND INVESTING Two Sessions: 6/21-6/25 & 8/2-8/6 Mon-Fri, 10:30am-12pm • Ages 8-14 Online $179-$189 (5 Dates) A useful and fun camp that benefits and is loved by children and parents alike! This class introduces students to money management using activities like Comparative Shopping, Salary analysis, budgeting a trip, wants and need planning. Students learn how to track expenses and analyze them. Parents love to see their children become aware on these concepts.

- ACTIVE ADULTS (50+) Classes & Events ON THE BALL Sessions: 6/3-6/24; 7/8-7/29; 8/5-8/26 Thu, 9-10am • Ages 50+ Finley Park Lawn (by Tennis Courts) $35-$45 All you active agers - time to get back on the ball stability ball that is, and renew our inner strength. We will focus on gaining and maintaining our stability with mobility so we can move more efficiently. Bring a mat and stability ball out in the park for a refreshing time to work our core. We will be moving around the park with the stability balls, and we will be standing and laying down. Participants must bring their own stability (exercise) ball and mat, which can be purchased online or a sporting goods store. POLICIES No flotation devices, including swim suits with built-in flotation pieces. Children under age 8 must be supervised by a responsible person age 16+. Children under age 5 must have an adult in the water with them always. No jean cut-offs, t-shirts, or street shorts allowed in the water. Only clearly identified service animals are permitted. Children must be 48 inches to ride the Ridgway water slide. Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles or metal rivets are not permitted on the water slide. No thong/G-string suits permitted. Children over age five are not allowed in opposite-sex locker rooms. Unisex restrooms available.

Participants must be able to swim four continuous laps in deep water without stopping and tread water for one minute straight. - AQUATICS Swim Lessons - General Information Beginning Swim Program
Intermediate Swim Program
CHILD-ADULT BEGINNER: NO WATER EXPERIENCE NEEDED These courses are designed for all ages to gain basic water skills. The focus is water adjustment and fun!
LEVELS 2-5: SWIMMING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED This program is designed to build swimming proficiency, technique and endurance. The focus is skill development.
Parent-Child: Ages 6 months-3 years This is a FUN introduction to the water with singing, games, blowing bubbles, going underwater, floating, kicking and scooping. Parent participation in the water is required.
Level 2: Ages 5-9 Prerequisite: Swim front crawl and back crawl 5 yards. Students work on side breathing, back crawl and elementary backstroke arms.
Tadpoles: Ages 3-5 Students work on comfort in the water and having fun. Basic skills like blowing bubbles, going underwater, floating, kicking and alternating arms are taught through games and imagination. Water Frogs: Ages 4-5 Students work on water adjustment, submerging, front and back floats, kicking, front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke. Sea Stars: Ages 6-9 Students work on water adjustment, submerging, front and back floats, kicking, front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke.
Level 3: Ages 6+ Prerequisite: Front crawl with side-breathing, back crawl for 15 yards, and elementary backstroke arms for 5 yards. Teaching emphasize on side-breathing and endurance for front crawl. Introduction to elementary backstroke kick, breaststroke kick, butterfly kick and sitting and kneeling dives. This course is taught in deeper water. Level 4: Ages 6+ Prerequisite: Front crawl 25 yards with excellent sidebreathing, back crawl 25 yards, elementary backstroke, breaststroke kick, and dolphin kick for 15 yards. Students learn to coordinate breaststroke arms and kick, are introduced to butterfly, work on treading water, and learn to do a standing dive.
Dolphins: Ages: 10-15 Taught in 3 1/2 feet of water, students work on water adjustment and beginning swimming skills. Student progress and needs determine the pace of the course. More advanced skills may be taught including breaststroke, sidestroke, treading water, and dives. Adult Beginner: Ages 16+ Students work on skills ranging from water adjustment and floating to front crawl, back crawl and elementary backstroke. The pace of the course is based on student progress and needs. The class is taught in 3 1/2 feet of water.

- AQUATICS Swim Lessons - General Information Level 5: Ages 6+ Prerequisite: front crawl and back crawl 50 yards, elementary backstroke 25 yards, breaststroke and butterfly 15 yards. Students improve technique and endurance on the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke and breaststroke and develop proficiency in butterfly, sidestroke, treading water, diving and flip turns. Level 6 - Fitness Swimmer: Ages 6+ Prerequisite: front crawl and back crawl 50 yards, breaststroke and butterfly 25 yards. Students will continue to refine technique in all strokes and improve endurance while learning how to use pull-buoys and kickboards in their workout. Students will also learn how to use a pace clock, flip and open turns, and lap swim etiquette.
POLICIES • Participants must meet the minimum age level by first day of class. • No make-up classes allowed. If a class is missed, please take the remaining classes. • It is common for children to repeat a level before progressing to the next level. • Drop off and pick up children on time (not early or late); this is required for safe supervision. • Registration is required to participate in all fee programs. • Classes fill quickly, register early and save your receipt to present at first class. • Carefully register your child in the class at the appropriate skill level. If your child is under or over-qualified for a class, we will transfer him/her as appropriate. If there is no availability, you will receive a refund.
Level 6 - Lifeguard Preparedness (LGT): Ages 6+ Prerequisite: front crawl and back crawl 50 yards, breaststroke and butterfly 25 yards. Students will continue to refine technique in all strokes and improve endurance while learning lifeguard skills. Students will also work on water entries, swimming with a rescue tube, and rescues for distressed swimmer, active drowning and passive drowning victims.
