History In Our Midst Visit Luther Burbank Home and Gardens Holiday Open House Enjoy a 34-year community tradition and begin the holiday season’s celebrations by visiting the historic Luther Burbank Home and Gardens. Luther Burbank, famed horticulturist, made his home in Santa Rosa for more than 50 year and it was here that he conducted plant-breeding experiments that brought him world fame. One of Burbank’s goals was to increase the world’s food supply by manipulating the characteristics of plants. Burbank developed an improved spineless cactus which could provide forage for livestock in desert regions. During his career, Burbank introduced more than 800
new varieties of plants — including over 200 varieties of fruits, many vegetables, nuts and grains, and hundreds of ornamental flowers. Burbank’s home and garden are particularly spectacular during the holiday season. Visit the Holiday Open House for a charming reminder of bygone days as the home is decked out in Victorian holiday finery inside and out. Enjoy cookies and spiced tea in Burbank’s beautiful Greenhouse. See the latest exhibit and shop for unique Burbank-related items in the Carriage House Museum & Gift Shop. Make a day of it and ride Rosie the Trolley between the Luther Burbank

Did You Know? Person Senior Wing Project We did it! The Person Senior Wing Project is wrapping up. It’s true! Most importantly, drum roll please… the new parking lot should be available in December! Please mind the fence, and don’t begin parking there until they are removed, as we are still finishing the landscaping and want to protect our seedling plants.
