Bennett Valley Senior Center Activities Relocating After operating as the City of Santa Rosa’s Senior Center since 1976, the Bennett Valley Senior Center will close its doors on August 31 and the programs, activities, and staff will be consolidated at Steele Lane Recreation Center and Finley Person Senior Wing. The Bennett Valley Senior Center has played a vital role in the lives of seniors, encouraging them to stay active and remain social. Many seniors will miss the convenience and nostalgia of the Center and we want to thank them for their support and assistance during this transition. The Recreation & Parks Department has been able to relocate most of the activities previously held at
Bennett Valley Senior Center to either the Finley Person Senior Wing or Steele Lane Recreation Center, and in most cases these activities are scheduled for the same day of the week and time. Additionally, the Steele Lane Recreation Center has undergone recent modernization, including the conversion of a classroom to a billiards room. We are pleased to “welcome back” seniors who used to come to Steele Lane and we hope to meet new participants beginning September 4. Please visit the front desk at either Steele Lane or Person Senior Wing to pick up the schedule of activities for both centers.

Activity Spotlight Opening Doors for LGBTQI Older Adults This past June, Santa Rosa Senior Centers joined other Coalition members at the 31st annual Sonoma County LGBTQI Pride Parade and Festival when it returned to Santa Rosa. This year’s theme was ‘Together we Rise” since last year’s fires have brought trauma and dislocation to many.
