Piecing the Roofs and Border Rectangles
1D raw diagonal line on wrong side of light
blue 2H˝ square. Referring to Diagram I-A, place marked square on dark green 2H˝ x 4H˝ rectangle, right sides together, aligning raw edges. Sew on marked line; trim away and discard excess fabric. Press open. Repeat on opposite end of rectangle to make dark green roof. Make 2. In same manner, make remaining roofs in fabrics, sizes, and quantities shown in Diagram I-B.

medium green 6G˝ quarter-square triangle and red 3M˝ half-square triangle. Press open; trim red triangle even with green triangle. Sew 2nd red triangle to unit; press open to complete border rectangle. Make 15. Make 15 using dark green quartersquare triangles. You will have 1 triangle left over of each green print. 3⅞˝

Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for following steps. 4 S titch white 50H˝ strip to bottom of village. Position door rectangles and star; appliqué in place. 5 S ew 5 border rectangles together end to end, alternating. Add red 25H˝ strip to green side to make side border. Make 2; sew to sides of quilt center. Sew 10 border rectangles together end to end, alternating. Add red 50H˝ strip to green side. Sew red 4˝ squares to ends to complete top/bottom border. Make 2; sew to top/bottom.
