“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in fall,” Jordan Baker says famously in “The Great Gatsby.” Similar to the sheding of leaves, students shed their carefree states of mind and prepare for two more semesters. “The beginning of the year is New Year’s for school,” said English teacher Pam Gower. “You get a clean slate and you make resolutions for the year. It’s also very exciting, especially for me as a teacher since I get to test fresh ideas for teaching and wear new outfits. I always feel very motivated and ready.”
