CONCEPT OF GODS IN JAINISM

universe. He is still a human being. He remains in the state of blissful condition for the rest of his life. Arihants are classified into two categories: • Tirthankar • Simple kevali and • Tirthankar Immediately after attaining keval jnana, if a person establishes the four fold religious order of monks, nuns, sravaks (male householder), and sravikas (female householder) is known as Tirthankar. He preaches the Jain philosophy, religion, ethics, conducts to his followers.

Jainism believes that universe and all its substances or entities are eternal. It has no beginning or end with respect to time. Universe runs own its own accord by its own cosmic laws. All the substances change or modify their forms continuously. Nothing can be destroyed or created in the universe. There is no need of some one to create or manage the affairs of the universe. Hence Jainism does not believe in God as a creator, survivor, and destroyer of the universe. However Jainism does believe in God, not as a creator, but as a perfect being. When a person destroys all his karmas, he becomes a liberated soul. He lives in a perfect blissful state in Moksha forever. The liberated soul possesses infinite knowledge, infinite vision, infinite power, and infinite bliss. This living being is a God of Jain religion. Every living being has a potential to become God. Hence Jains do not have one God, but Jain Gods are innumerable and their number is continuously increasing as more living beings attain liberation. Jains believe that since the beginning of the time every living being (soul) is attached with karma and also it is in delusion (ignorant) state of its true nature. The main purpose of the religion is to remove this delusion through self-knowledge and self-effort. This knowledge will remove karma which are associated with it from the beginning of time. When all karma get removed, the soul becomes liberated soul. ARIHANT When a person destroys his four Ghati karmas, he attains keval jnana. He has regained the original attributes of his soul, which are perfect knowledge, vision, power, and bliss. He is omniscient of the past, present and future forms of all entities (living and nonliving beings) of the

Jainism believe that Twenty four Tirthankars are born during each descending and ascending part of the time cycle in this region (known as Bharat Kshetra) of the universe. No two Tirthankaras exist at the same time. Generally a Tirthankara is born when the religion is at its depression state. The new Tirthankar revives the same Jain philosophy. He gives a different form to the religion practice, which depends upon the time, place, and the social behavior of the human society of that time. Example: Lord Mahavir preached five great vows for ascetics, while Lord Parshva preached four great vows. The vow of celibacy was included in the non possession category by Lord Parshav. SIMPLE_KEVALI The only difference between Tirthankara and simple kevali is that the latter does not establish the religious order. He remains in the state of perfect blissful condition for the rest of his life after attaining keval_jnan. In the religious scriptures, the name Arihantas and Tirthankaras are interchangeably used because simple_kevalis do not play any active roles in the religious order. Tirthankar is also known as Jina, Arihant, Arhat, Arhant, or Nirgrantha. TIRTHANKARA: Founder of four-fold order of monks, nuns, laymen, and laywomen.

JINA: One who has conquered his, inner passions such as desire and hatred. ARIHANT: One who has destroyed his inner enemies such as greed, anger, desire, and hatred. ARHAT: One to whom nothing can be secret. ARHANT: A spiritual acquirement leading a man to the state of an Arihant. NIRGRANTHA: A religion of One who has gotten rid of all knots or attachments. Both Tirthankars and Simple_kevalis (all Arihants) become Siddha after nirvan (death). All Siddhas are equal in qualities.

(Tirthankara) first and the Siddhas second. Even though the Siddhas are perfected souls, have destroyed all (both Ghati and Aghati) Karmas, and are at the highest spiritual stage. While the Arihantas have destroyed only four Ghati Karmas and are at a lower (thirteen gunasthan) spiritual stage. ANSWER Arihants (Tirthnkaras) after attaining keval jnana (after destroying four ghati karmas), establish the four fold order of Jain religion. They preach the Jain philosophy, ethics and conduct. They explain the path of liberation and the qualities of the perfected soul or Siddhas. Without the teachings of Arihantas we would not have known Siddhas or liberation. For this reason we pray Arihantas first and Siddhas second.

THE FOUR FOLD ORDER

SIDDHA Both the Tirthankaras and simple kevalis (all Arihants) destroy the remaining four Aghati karmas at the end of their present life. After their nirvan (death) all of them are known as Siddhas. They are totally free and liberated. They are free from the birth and death cycle. They do not possess body. They do not feel pleasure and pain, or joy and sorrow. They live as a pure soul in an ever-lasting blissful condition at the top of the universe (Lokakas) known as Moksha. The quality and attributes of all Siddhas are same. However, they still maintain their unique identity and form. EXAMPLE: Lord Mahavir's soul as a siddha possesses the same qualities as of Shri Gautam Swami or Shri Bahubali's soul. However their souls remain unique individual and have different forms.

JAIN GODS Both Arihants and Siddhas are considered Gods of Jain religion. Arihats are perfect human beings and preach the Jain religion to the people after attaining keval_jnan. After death they become Siddhas. All Siddhas are perfected souls, living forever in a blissful state in Moksha. QUESTION In the Namokar Mantra we pray to the Arihants

Monks and Nuns (ascetics): They practice self control and have given up all desires and earthly possessions become the spiritual practicer and teachers. They follow strictly five great vows (maha vrats). Sravaks and Sravikas (lay followers): They are not required to renounce the world, but are expected to discharge household duties by honest means and live a progressive pure life. They follow the twelve vows of lay people.

A person who has a full-time job and trades stocks part-time in the evenings (or even during breaks from work as the employer allows) must establish an efficient routine to expand trading expertise and skills. Evening hours are precious hours, and the trader will want to use the time well. One part of the typical evening work should be stock chart research. Chart Research Should Agree With Trading Strategy With thousands of publicly traded companies, and multiple time frames for price charts, the trader could spend hours every day just looking at charts and be no further ahead afterward. To use chart research time efficiently, the trader needs to focus chart research on the trading system and strategy being used. Most traders trade stocks (and options or even futures) according to a system. The amateur trader, especially when new to this profession, will follow a system developed by others, or at least a system with a narrow focus. Examples of such systems are: Trade one stick only; learn to recognize it’s price movements Trade a handful of stocks Trade an index (or a handful of indexes) as a stock. This will actually be exchange traded funds (ETF) which seek to mimic a particular index. Trade under the direction or teaching of an online trading “guru”. Many of these us the Internet to identify pupils and conduct virtual classes to train traders in the system, and maybe give on-going coaching. Trade a published strategy, such as the Dogs of the Dow. Many of these strategies exist, and can be found in print or on-line publications. Trade a specific price movement strategy, such as a pullback in a trend. This requires a stock screener. Many other theories/systems/strategies exist and are available to the part time trader, often for a fee

but sometimes without. Once the trading system is selected and in place, chart research can be limited to that, and a finite amount of time set aside for it. Goals of Stock Chart Research There are several reasons for the part time trader to conduct stock chart research: To assess the overall direction of the market, so as to determine whether to seek out bullish or bearish trades. To recognize how price and volume patterns set up and move from beginning to end. This will give the trader greater confidence that technical analysis has validity. To learn the movement of particular stocks. To prepare to branch out into another trading strategy, thus becoming a more complete trader. To plan out specific trades, identifying entry point, risk-reward ratio, exit point, and stop loss points. Example of Chart Research The figures accompanying this article demonstrate how stock chart research could be applied to one narrow situation. The stocks are all of the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index, which is a broad measure of the larger publicly traded companies in the US (including some international corporations). Study of the charts of this index are frequently used to assess the overall direction of the market. They can also be used to trade an ETF that mimics the S&P 500, or options in that index. The attached charts are candlestick style, or the following time frames: 6 months, with daily candlesticks 3 years, with weekly candlesticks 1 month, with hourly candlesticks These three charts allow the trader to assess the trend of the large-cap market. Looking at the price candlestick for June 9, 2010 (the last candlestick at the right on the chart), the day was an down

day, in that the index closed below it’s open. This followed a modest up day, but also two strong down days. A third down day out of four would appear to be a bearish sign. However, note that the intraday high low were higher than the high and low of the previous day, which is a bullish sign.

rely on bread and butter strategies to maximize their profit potential. My toolbox of strategies include break out-pullback, trend pullback and post earnings trades, to name a few. My quest to become an expert in these strategies has lead me to know the details of these trades better than I know the back of my own hand.

The monthly chart with hourly candlesticks confirms that at least part of the day, the first part, saw the index rise, while the last several hours saw it fall. At the end of the day, it was above the low of the previous day. Study of this type of chart pattern would indicate to the trader that the next day could go either way, but that the index appeared to be poised to see price rises the next day. That is in fact what happened. On June 10, 2010 the index rose nearly 3%.

3. Build a strong watchlist - Watchlist development is the key to successfully trading part-time. Every evening, I identify 10-20 "primary watchlist" stocks that will receive most of my attention the coming trading day. These stocks are culled from my master "focus list", which is developed over time by an organic process that looks for stocks based on my bread and butter strategies.

The three year chart is a way to assess where the index stands relative to a longer history. It is in a fifteen month uptrend, albeit an uptrend that looks to be weakening and possibly coming to an end. This research, when combined with looking at other factors, might convince the trader to be ready to be making trades that will capitalize on a down market. Stock chart research is sometimes associated with specific trades. However, it is also for the purpose of helping the trader have a greater knowledge of price movements, and greater confidence in technical analysis as a valid basis for stock trading. The following five tips helped turbo charge my portfolio and reach my trading goals. My hope is that they will do the same for you. 1. Swing trade your way to profits - Swing traders hold stocks anywhere from a few days to a few months, depending on trading strategies and market conditions. While there are many different trading strategies, most seek to identify and capture a trending stock's "sweet spot" or the bulk of the trend. This type of trading is conducive to the part-time trader, since precise entry and exit is not the goal, and you don't have to watch the ticker around the clock. 2. Develop bread and butter trading strategies Every successful athlete needs a "go to" move, and traders are no different. Successful traders

4. Identify entry and exit points for primary watchlist stocks - When picking stocks for the primary watchlist, write down the price that would get you to enter the stock, and the expected target and stop-out prices. Base these prices on your bread and butter strategies. For example, if a breakout strategy identifies $25 as the level that will propel the stock higher, mark this level as your entry point. If $30 is the level you would take profits, mark this as your target. Most important, figure out how much you are willing to lose and mark this as your stop-out level. Most traders want the stop out level to at the least match their target level, while risking no more than 1-5% of their portfolio. In this case, your stop-loss would be no lower than $25. 5. Let your target and stop levels do the work Once you have entered a trade, there is an overwhelming temptation to continually eyeball your positions. This can lead to over trading, which can be detrimental to the swing trader trying to hit that sweet spot. For this reason, my advice to the part-time trader is to turn off the quote feed once the trade is made. You've already researched your positions and set target and stop levels. It's now time to let your analysis work itself out. With risk analysis and a stop loss order in place, the probability of a disastrous loss to your portfolio is minimal. So sit back and relax. Or better yet, focus on your day job! Following these 5 smart trading tips will do wonders for your portfolio, evolution as a trader, and ability to manage time and stress levels. In future posts I will dig deeper into the intricacies of trading with these tips and detail what it takes to be a successful swing trader.

THE COMPLETE MAN ! GAUTAM SINGHANIA The chairman and managing director of one of the world’s largest textile manufacturing conglomerate “Raymond group”, Gautam Singhania perfectly epitomizes his company’s tagline “The complete man”, as he is one of the iconic Indian entrepreneurs. Born as Gautam Hari Singhania to father Vijaypat Singhania and mother Ashabai Singhania, Gautam enjoyed all the comforts of being the heir of an industrialist family. The wealthy industrialist has a lavish lifestyle and holds immense passion for fast cars, luxury yachts, speedboats, planes and nightclubs .

storied mansion “JK House”, a farmhouse in Alibaug, a Challenger 604 business jet, three helicopters and two luxury yachts – Moonraker and Ashena. He also owns a number of speedboats named after movies of James Bond including Thunderball, Golden Eye, Goldfinger, and Octopussy. In partnership with DJ Aqeel, he also established a nightclub “Poison” in Bandra. An enthusiast of express cars, Gautam has also participated in racing events driving a Lamborghini Gallardo in Europe and a Formula 1 car in France. The eminent business personality also formed the first super car club in India. On the personal front, the business tycoon is married to Nawaz Modi Singhania and has a daughter. Gautam Singhania surely wants to personify everything that his company stands for. The 41year old CMD of the Rs 2,000 crore (Rs 20 billion) Raymond says he is a "complete man"- a reference to the group's popular ad line. We are at Raymond's headquarters on the third floor of the Mahindra & Mahindra Towers at Worli. Singhania chose to host the lunch at his conference room as he is avoiding outside food these days.

In 1986, Gautam joined his family’s “JK Group of companies” and rose to prominent positions within the company from being a director in 1990 to the chairman of Raymond Group in 2000. The talented businessman applied his industry analytical skills to the inherited business to restructure the group. He sold the company’s noncore businesses and shifted the focus to fabrics, apparel brands, men's toiletries and prophylactics. Under his proficient leadership, Raymond group reached new heights of success and became a reputed and favorite market brand. For optimum gains, Gautam also focused on international partnerships, forming ventures with “Gruppo Zambaiti” of Italy and “UCO of Belgium”. Currently, Gautam’s Raymond group offers a diverse range of services ranging from quality apparels and fabrics to engineering components like cutting tools and auto parts. The billionaire businessman owns a bunch of pricey assets which include his 30-

The room businesslike and devoid of any frills - is quite unlike the colourful public persona that Singhania enjoys. But the speed at which the lunch is served suggests that the stewards know their youthful chairman's penchant for things fast - be it fast cars, fighter jets or power boats. No wonder Singhania was ordering a second bowl of soup for himself even as I was just halfway through with the first. I ask Singhania to elaborate a little more on the "complete man" bit. The response came in a flash. There are three reasons for this, Singhania says. First, he has been able to keep his emotion in check while taking business decisions; second he makes it a point to give quality time to his family; and third, he has not allowed his life to become all work and no play, and pursues his three hobbies religiously.

The last one is what he calls the world's finest worsted suiting fabric - the Super 230S made from 11.8 micron wool (one micron is one millionth of a metre). He hasn't yet worn suits made from the fabric as he would prefer his customers to do so, but says with pride that Lakshmi Mittal was the first buyer of the fabric last year. He is equally proud of the fact that a newly opened Raymond store in West Bengal's Burdwan district sells one and a half times more than the outlet in Andheri, Mumbai's tony suburb. "It's good to be passionate about your business but only a complete man can avoid taking emotional decisions about his business," he says, and proceeds to give examples. Flying, as everybody knows, is in his genes and has been an abiding passion. Last year, he almost gave in to his emotions by deciding to invest a substantial amount in IndiGo, the latest kid in the Indian aviation space. But the night before the final decision, he decided to separate his emotional decisions from his business ones. "It's damn tough. But I realised I need to follow my head and not my heart, as Raymond is on an upswing and needs all the time I can spare," Singhania says. The other one was the hospitality sector about which he is "simply crazy." He knows all the minutiae that such a business requires as was evident from the famous annual parties he used to hold till last year at Powai in downtown Mumbai The parties were the talk of the town as the guest list comprised all the beautiful women and men in Mumbai. "Everyone saw the glamour but none realised the amount of planning and hard work that went into them. Apart from the menu etc, I had to be involved in planning the three layers of security that had to be organised," Singhania says. But he has "somehow" managed to keep away from the hospitality business as Raymond had to stay focused in its core competence areas. That's the reason why he decided to sell three non-core businesses - synthetics, steel and cement - soon after taking charge from his father Vijaypat Singhania in 2000. The main course is also served at lightning speed and we graduate from his emotions to his passion - that is Raymond. He is immensely proud that the company straddles the entire spectrum, producing fabrics ranging from Rs 150 per meter to Rs 125,000 per meter.

While Super 230S was essentially to show the world that Raymond has the technical excellence to produce any fabric, the company has also got a very impressive stable of men's RTW labels - Park Avenue, Parx, Manzoni and Colorplus. The two latest initiatives have been the pret designer retail business with Be:, a chain of stores that stock the top Indian fashion labels, and Zapp, the children's apparel segment. Though analysts say the company has been quite slow in entering this highly lucrative segment, Singhania predictably doesn't agree. "The demand is limitless and there is nothing called delay in the business that we are in. The name of the game is to be unique in your offering," he says, and orders ice-cream. I am just halfway through with the delicious main course and realised long back that trying to keep pace with him is futile. The company has also emerged as the world's largest integrated producer of worsted suiting fabric with an annual capacity of 31 million meters, and Singhania has upped the branded shirts capacity to 6,000 shirts a day. "We are so fully integrated that we're literally 'From the sheep's back to the man's back,'" Singhania says. As I finish having my tea (he has been patient enough with my speed), I ask Singhania whether his "Page 3" reputation hurts him. "Frankly it doesn't matter to me anymore." he says and talks about how he works till late at night and hasn't forgotten to experience the sweat and dust of the Indian marketplace. – As Interviewd by Shyamal Majumdar

A RACE IN WHICH YOU SHOULD PARTICIPATE Lets make one thing clear before we start the review, Race 2 has got nothing to do with RACE and is a new story altogether. All this time i was wondering how will the director-duo continue from where they had left the most probable option was to make John Abraham son of Dilip Tahil as a Son on a revenge mission but unfortunately nothing of that sort. Abbas Mastan are the masters of the Suspense genre and thrillers and they very well know that, I am sure no one in the industry today makes movies like them. The story telling and the surprise elements are the key factors of An Abbas Mastan Film. Having said that Race 2 is no different, with so many twists and turns and double crossings and Tripple Crossings (yes that’s a new word courtesy Abbas Mastaan) Race 2 is like a roller coaster ride which will make you gasp and sigh from time to time. Armaan Malik (John Abraham) is a multi billionaire tycoon who loves money more than anything and is a self proclaimed KAMINA as said by himself in the movie. He can do anything for money and loves to show it off in rather suave and fancy ways. Alina (Deepika Padukone) is half (step) sister of Armaan Malik who also happens to be the business partner and partner in crime. Its her way or no way ! She’s best at negotiating and winning, a true seductress she uses her charm and beauty to make things easier for her. Omisha (Jacqueline Fernandez) is the love and fiance of Armaan Malik coming up with her sensuousness and wit shes made a journey from a small time thief to the love of a billionaire. Easy at changing sides she always prefers to be on the winning side. Ranveer SIngh (Saif Ali Khan) needs no introduction still the mastermind from the previous installment of Race, Ranveer has a reason to take part in another Race of life and defeat someone. This time too he manages to play the games by his rules and win it too Last but not the least Robert D’costa (Anil Kapoor) the very musch same fruit eating Cop who now runs a lounge in some European country but still dirties his hands for money. Her assistant Cherry (Amisha Patel) has been just put in the movie for useless purpose, i guess she might have paid the producers to get this rule which otherwise is not required at all.

A rather long introduction with so many central characters is quite required. Race 2 is a story of vengeance a story of revenge which has many surprise elements in store for us. A few scenes are very well made specially the confrontations between Saif & John and a few tricks each uses on each other are quite laudable. Songs are useless, of course they sound good but have no place in the script and are pushed in just to have some skin show. Abbas Mastan have taken a lot of Cinematic liberties to prove their point which might not sink in with the audience and prove to be quite metamorphic to understand and digest.A lot of money has been spent on Expensive Cars, Locations, Hotels, Yachts & Action Sequences which all looks fruitful and mesmerizes the audience. Now lets get on to the Good And Bad of the movie : Story – 4/5 (Directors could not explain a few things but still manage to take the story forward) Music – Songs like Be-Intehaan ; Party on My Mind, Lat Lag Gayi & Allah Duhai hai are very good songs to hear but are not needed in the movie and can encourage people for a break ! Cinematography – is very Nice especially the scenic locations from Europe are Classy Dialogues – Could have been much better, the characters are too strong to say simple lines the need to communicate in certain fashion and dialogues could have made it better, a little disappointing. And finally Acting – With a chiseled physique and a killer smile girls will definitly die for John Abraham and yes John for a change ACTS ! and he acts well. Deepika And Jacqueline are just Side Kicks and got nothing to prove except that they are really HOT ! Saif looks too old and really shabby with his beard look, he would have looked much more daper and smarter without it, nothing new from Saif that we haven’t seen in Race the same unforgiving attitude and a poker cold face. Anil Kapoor is good but same old same old, a lot of more funnier character could have been be created. So over all the final verdict is that you should go and see Race -2, of course it has its own sets of limitations and shortcomings but still cannot be neglected. Its a complete entertainment package and will definitely be not a movie you could regret watching !
