COVER: The soul and heart behind Gather Local Market

F NNY BUSINESS

The Indomitable Spirit of Saskatoon Business

“We never forget who the hero is.” Last fall, I uttered those words on stage at an event to a room full of entrepreneurs. As a Chamber, we can never forget the individual’s core to success in our business community. Our members, made up of a diverse group of business owners and supporters, are the beating heart of our Chamber. As a member reading this, you are the reason we exist: to support you and empower you in your entrepreneurial journey.

2024 presented no shortage of challenges for business. From political change to shipping disruptions to tax and infrastructure debates to attempts to discern global trade policies based upon digital missives, entrepreneurs have had no shortage of excitement. But, through all of that, we have seen resilience. We have seen hard-working people get up every day and pursue their dreams. In that process, they built a strong Saskatoon business community.

While many of these challenges will persist in 2025, there is notable optimism among our membership. We are seeing entrepreneurs move from a scarcity to a growth mindset. We are witnessing founders on the global stage, competing against the best the world has to offer. We are seeing trade opportunities far beyond the borders of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and even Canada. We see hard-working men and women recognized for their humble warrior mentalities and the product of that hard work.

We are also seeing a renewed sense of collaboration within our business community. The Chamber has partnered and will continue to partner with organizations such as the Saskatchewan Chamber, the North Saskatoon Business Association, the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority, Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs, and Co.Labs, to name a few. While the Chamber has always been the “voice of business” in Saskatoon, we recognize it takes a village to support our heroes. Each of these organizations has contributed to the success of Saskatoon’s businesses. We thank them for their collaboration and look forward to hearing more from them in the future.

We also continue to see diversity in our business community. In 2024, the Chamber sponsored the Black Business Expo and the Latino Summer Festival. Both events helped spotlight the significant business growth in these communities. We have seen a surge in newcomer businesses and new Canadians who have a strong entrepreneurial spirit. We will continue to support these groups and play our part in simplifying the process for these individuals to start and grow a business in Saskatoon.

2024 also saw our Chamber taking a stand on behalf of local businesses. Whether the matter concerned property tax mechanisms, ensuring a free market for businesses to compete in, or ensuring our business owners could viably travel nationally and globally, your Chamber repeatedly prepared key advocacy positions and pursued those relentlessly. We drew upon our national Chamber network to advance these positions and shine a national spotlight on issues that are core to Saskatoon entrepreneurs. We will continue to monitor policy changes in 2025 and advocate strenuously on behalf of our members.

Finally, in 2025, we will continue to offer opportunities for creative collisions within our business community. Our events do not simply spotlight ourselves; they serve as a gathering place for entrepreneurs, politicians, professionals, and community supporters to meet and explore opportunities. And, more fundamentally, they serve to allow people to understand the stories, highs, and lows of being a Saskatoon business owner. They serve to spotlight the heroes, the dreamers, and those ultimately building this great city we call home.

Here’s to a successful and prosperous 2025!

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation

Community connection first brought Kitsaki Management LP’s CEO Ron Hyggen to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors, where he volunteered for six years of service. Now, he is the Chair of the Foundation’s By Your Side Kidney Care Campaign, committing time and resources to support those facing Chronic Kidney Disease with a better healthcare journey and improved quality of life. “Together, we can eliminate barriers to health,” says Ron, who believes that strong partnership is the best way forward. Kitsaki, the business arm of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, was the first organization to give a significant gift to the Campaign, committing $150,000 to the cause.

In the spirit of partnership, Ron first got involved with the By Your Side Campaign, as he helped introduce the idea of an innovative, point-of-care early screening program to leaders within the Lac La Ronge Indian Band alongside the SPH Foundation. To Ron, the

decision was easy. “If we can stop even a small percentage of people from needing to come to the Hospital at varying stages of kidney disease, I think we’ve already succeeded,” he explains.

In September of 2023, Kidney Check Saskatchewan teams kicked off the first priority of the Campaign: early screening programs that engage, educate, test and deliver results in one sitting to participants in communities with high rates of Kidney Disease. The program empowers participants, giving them the tools they need to take an active role in their health.

“One in 10 people in our province lives with Chronic Kidney Disease,” says Lecina Hicke, CEO of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, “and we are very grateful to donors like Kitsaki who are making it possible for us to reimagine a proactive future for Kidney Health care in Saskatoon and the North.”

Nutrien at 65: Innovating and Empowering Communities

In 2024, Nutrien proudly celebrated 65 years of potash production in Saskatchewan, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to the province and its communities. With corporate headquarters in Saskatoon and over 4,300 employees residing in Saskatchewan, Nutrien's deeprooted connection to the region is evident.

Nutrien has consistently demonstrated leadership in mining innovation, particularly through integrating automation and digitalization to enhance safety and operational efficiency. A notable achievement includes reaching a milestone of 25 million ore tonnes mined using automation across its Saskatchewan mines. This accomplishment underscores Nutrien's dedication to transforming mining practices and improving safety standards.

Implementing tele-remote technology allows operators to control mining equipment from remote locations, significantly reducing exposure to potential hazards. This advancement not only boosts safety but also optimizes operational efficiency. The Lanigan Potash mine's successful adoption of this technology earned Nutrien the John T. Ryan Mine Safety Technology Award, highlighting its commitment to pioneering safe mining methods.

Beyond its industrial achievements, Nutrien is deeply invested in community development and fostering strong relationships with Indigenous communities. In celebration of its 65th anniversary, Nutrien introduced the "Building Stronger Communities Together Grant" in partnership with the Saskatoon Community Foundation. This initiative provided 65 community groups across Saskatchewan with grants to support meaningful local projects, reflecting Nutrien's dedication to nurturing the communities where it operates.

Nutrien's commitment to Indigenous partnerships is exemplified by its "25x25" goal, aiming for 25% local Indigenous impact in its Potash business unit by 2025. As of September 2024, this goal was surpassed, achieving over 30% Indigenous participation and contributing over $900 million CAD towards Indigenous businesses. This milestone showcases Nutrien's proactive approach to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #92 and economic reconciliation by supporting Indigenous enterprises.

Nutrien's commitment to fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities is further demonstrated through many other initiatives and partnerships, including significant contributions to educational institutions. A notable collaboration is with the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT), which established Pawâcikêwikamik: Nutrien MakerLodge. This facility has provided over 800 training hours, benefiting over 60 First Nations and empowering Indigenous youth in technology and innovation. Another example is the $250,000 donation to the St. Frances Cree Bilingual School in Saskatoon, supporting the development of state-of-theart kitchen facilities and reinforcing Nutrien's dedication to food security, education and cultural preservation.

At the heart of Nutrien’s community support efforts are also partnerships with organizations like the White Buffalo Youth Lodge, where Nutrien has steadfastly supported communityfocused events. From hosting a free holiday dinner for over 1,000 attendees to celebrating the start of the school year with supply donations and cultural programming, these collaborations strengthen community bonds. Nutrien also supports Indigenous veterans and youth, honouring their contributions while empowering the next generation through mentorship and opportunity creation. These initiatives embody Nutrien’s commitment to reconciliation, advancing equity, and building meaningful, long-term partnerships with Indigenous communities to create shared prosperity and understanding.

“Building relationships with Indigenous communities has been a cornerstone of Nutrien’s work in Saskatchewan,” said Julie Ann Wriston, Director, Indigenous Relations at Nutrien. “We deeply appreciate the partnerships we’ve established with Indigenous peoples and organizations, and we are committed to continuing to support initiatives that enhance

the quality of life for residents of Saskatoon and the communities near our operations.”

The Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce is also the beneficiary of Nutrien’s community support to promote economic reconciliation and foster good relations with Indigenous communities. The company is a longstanding supporter of the Mistahi Mamîcîhîtowin Award during the annual SABEX Awards. The term "Mistahi Mamîcîhîtowin," gifted to the Chamber in a special Pipe Ceremony, translates to "great pride in you" in Cree. This award honours businesses or non-profit organizations actively engaging in community investment, business partnerships, and procurement practices benefiting Indigenous peoples.

Julie Ann highlighted Nutrien’s broader vision for fostering economic success and equity across the province. “Our goal is to contribute to greater economic opportunities for Indigenous partners and all communities where our employees live and work. It’s about creating shared prosperity and ensuring our efforts have a lasting positive impact.”

These sentiments reflect Nutrien’s dedication to meaningful collaboration, community investment, and alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action #92.

Now entering its 66th year in business, Nutrien’s focus remains steadfast on innovation, safety, and community engagement. The company's efforts in advancing mining technologies, fostering inclusive partnerships, and supporting local initiatives position it as an industry and community development leader. Nutrien's journey over the past six and a half decades is a testament to its enduring commitment to Saskatchewan and its people, laying a strong foundation for continued collaboration and prosperity in the years to come.

A Conversation with Mayor Cynthia Block

It was precisely two months to the day since Cynthia Block was sworn in as Mayor of Saskatoon when we sat down to discuss her vision and priorities for the city—a vibrant and dynamic community with a growing business environment. From her early experiences as a city councillor to long-term aspirations, Mayor Block shared her thoughts candidly, setting the tone for a collaborative future.

Q: As a newly elected mayor, what are your top priorities for strengthening the city’s relationship with the business community during your first year in office?

Mayor Cynthia Block: One of my key priorities is to ensure open communication and collaboration with the business community. During my campaign, I promised a facilitated roundtable with businesses, and I’m committed to beginning that process within the first 100 days of my term. I want to proactively engage with business leaders to address challenges and explore opportunities together. It’s important to me that the business community feels heard and valued as partners in Saskatoon’s success so that we can set goals and keep each other accountable over the next 4 years.

Q: How do you balance the needs of businesses with the expectations of residents while implementing your vision for the city?

Mayor Block: It’s always a balancing act. Businesses are integral to our city’s growth, but they’re also made up of residents who live, work, and raise families here. My experience over the past eight years on the city council has shown me just how deeply businesses care about Saskatoon’s future. It’s essential to foster a sense of partnership where businesses help

shape the city while ensuring we’re serving all residents fairly. Transparency and shared goals will be key.

Q: What feedback have you received from the business community since taking office, and how has it shaped your initiatives?

Mayor Block: Early conversations with business leaders have highlighted areas where we can work together, and I’m committed to working with them to improve outcomes. Whether it’s economic development or business-friendly initiatives connected to procurement, city construction, or community safety, I think we have opportunities to make measurable improvements. The recent breakfast meeting with representatives from various industries was a great starting point. We’re working to ensure better communication and accountability. My goal is to create a more structured plan for engaging with the business community to solve problems collaboratively and seek new opportunities to champion our city.

Q: Saskatoon has its share of economic challenges. What opportunities do you see for businesses to contribute to the city’s growth and resilience?

Mayor Block: Businesses play a critical role in building a prosperous, vibrant and resilient city. Whether it’s through creating jobs, supporting community initiatives or driving innovation, their contributions are invaluable. I’ve also been thinking about how we can attract investments to underserved areas and support local entrepreneurs. A key focus will be on developing a “concierge” model to simplify processes for businesses looking to invest or expand in Saskatoon. I’ve seen this done in other cities and am convinced it will work for us, too. This approach will make it easier for us to attract and retain businesses while boosting local economic growth.

Q: How does the city ensure fairness for businesses of all sizes, from small startups to large corporations?

Mayor Block: Fairness is a priority. We are exploring the possibility of a small business property tax subclass. We’re currently among the most competitive cities in Canada in terms of property tax ratios, but we need to ensure that our policies reflect the unique challenges faced by small and medium-sized businesses. Strong local businesses are the lifeblood of our city, and supporting them is crucial to Saskatoon’s long-term vibrancy.

Q: Homelessness is a growing concern in Saskatoon. How can the city and the business community work together to address this issue?

Mayor Block: Municipalities are on the front lines of homelessness, but we do not have all

the tools to solve it alone. We need the ideas and connections in the business community as part of a whole-city approach to address the crisis we are facing. I have been calling for a task force on homelessness that includes residents and businesses, and our new city council is helping to shape the best way to approach this. Addressing homelessness requires courage, political will, and collaboration across sectors. Businesses have a vested interest in creating safe and thriving communities, and together, we can advocate for sustainable funding and innovative solutions. The city must lead when necessary, but this is also a shared responsibility.

Q: What are some of your long-term aspirations for Saskatoon’s economic and cultural growth?

Mayor Block: I’m incredibly optimistic about Saskatoon’s future. I envision a city with a thriving downtown that includes walkable neighbourhoods, vibrant cultural spaces, and a modern public library – I know the library is a bit of a contentious issue for some - that serves as a hub for residents and businesses alike. We’re working on exciting projects like an entertainment district and revitalizing underutilized areas such as the old bus barn site. These initiatives will help build a dynamic city that attracts talent, investment, and innovation.

Q: How do you measure the success of the city’s relationship with the business community?

Mayor Block: Success can be measured in various ways, from increased investment and job creation to stronger public-private partnerships. Saskatoon’s recent recognition as one of Canada’s most business-friendly cities by the Globe and Mail is a testament to the great work already happening. We’re also committed to tracking metrics like affordability, commute times, and ease of doing business to ensure we’re meeting the needs of both businesses and residents.

Closing Thoughts

As Mayor Cynthia Block embarks on her term, her focus on collaboration and inclusivity shines through. With a clear commitment to fostering partnerships, addressing challenges, and celebrating successes, Saskatoon’s future looks promising. As she puts it, “The business community plays a key role in shaping the growth and vitality of our city. By working together, we can create a Saskatoon that reflects the best of all of us.”

This conversation marks the beginning of what promises to be a dynamic partnership between City Hall and Saskatoon’s business community—a partnership built on mutual respect, shared goals, and a vision for a brighter future.

Built on Trust: The Story of Tru Mechanical

Saskatoon’s business landscape is enriched by companies that embody the values of trust, innovation, and community spirit. Among the city's rising stars is Tru Mechanical, a local plumbing and heating company that has earned a reputation for transparency, exceptional service, and strong moral values. As a recent member of the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce and a 2024 finalist for the SABEX Spirit of Saskatoon Award, Tru Mechanical exemplifies the best of what the city's business community has to offer.

Founded in April 2020 by Chad and Becky Taman, Tru Mechanical launched during the peak of the global pandemic. Despite the challenging timing, the couple was determined to create a business that aligned with their personal values. “We started TRU at our kitchen table with two toddlers running around and a big dream in our hearts,” Becky recalls. “By 11 a.m. on that first day, the phone started ringing, and it hasn’t stopped since.”

The name "TRU" reflects their philosophy: “Trusting the Route Unknown.” It was born out of their determination to build a company that prioritized honesty and customer-first values. “So many people fear calling experts because of the stigma of hidden expenses and unnecessary upselling,” Chad explains. “We don’t believe in those practices. Instead, we offer smart solutions tailored to the actual needs of our clients.”

This commitment to integrity has not only resonated with their customers but also earned them recognition. The SABEX Spirit of Saskatoon Award nomination celebrates businesses that embody the heart and soul of the city. “Being a finalist was such an honor,” Becky shares. “It reaffirmed that we’re on the right path, building something meaningful not just for us but for the community.” From its humble beginnings, Tru Mechanical has grown into a thriving operation with six employees and a commercial space. Chad

brings over 25 years of industry experience, while Becky contributes her expertise with an executive business diploma. Together with their team, which collectively holds over 65 years of experience, they provide a range of services, including heating, air conditioning, plumbing, gas, and sheet metal solutions.

Regardless of their rapid success, the Tamans remain focused on organic growth. “We never want to grow so fast that we compromise our values or have to lay off staff,” Becky notes. “We treat every member of our team like family and aim to grow our roots deep, not just wide.” Joining the Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce was a strategic step for Tru Mechanical. “We wanted to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs and contribute to our community,” Becky says. Since becoming members, they’ve attended events like the SABEX awards and are excited about upcoming opportunities, including Funny Business in February.

The Tamans encourage fellow Chamber members to support their mission by spreading the word about their services. “We all use plumbing and heating,” Becky laughs. “Whether you’re a homeowner or business owner, we’re here to help with honest and professional solutions.”

As Tru Mechanical continues to grow, it remains a shining example of what can be achieved with hard work, family support, and an unwavering commitment to integrity.

Growing Your Small Business in the Digital Age

In today’s fast-paced digital world, growing a small business requires more than just offering a great product or service. It’s about understanding how to engage with your audience, leverage technology, and adapt to changing customer expectations. Drawing on over 25 years of experience in sales and business growth, here are some practical tips to help your business thrive.

1. Master the Fundamentals of Sales

Sales is the foundation of any business. Without it, growth is impossible.

A well-trained sales team can:

• Identify customer needs effectively.

• Address objections with confidence.

• Build lasting relationships that foster repeat business.

To improve your team’s performance, focus on continuous sales training and development. Equip your team with the skills to connect with customers and adapt to evolving market demands.

2. Use Google PPC and SEO for Lead Generation

The digital era has transformed how businesses attract customers. Strategies like Google Pay-Per-Click (PPC) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are essential for increasing visibility and driving leads.

• PPC Advertising: This approach provides immediate visibility by targeting specific keywords that potential customers are searching for.

• SEO Optimization: A long-term strategy that enhances your website’s ranking in organic search results, building credibility and driving sustained traffic.

By combining PPC for quick results and SEO for consistent growth, businesses can achieve a balanced and effective marketing approach.

3. Build and Maintain a Strong Online Reputation

Your online reputation plays a critical role in attracting and retaining customers. Research shows that many consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. To build a strong reputation:

• Respond to reviews promptly and professionally.

• Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive feedback.

• Regularly monitor your online presence to address any concerns. By maintaining a positive reputation, you build trust and credibility with your audience.

4. Leverage the Power of Social Media

Social media platforms are invaluable tools for connecting with customers and promoting your brand. To make the most of social media:

• Create high-quality, engaging content that resonates with your audience.

• Use targeted advertising to reach specific demographics.

• Maintain a consistent posting schedule and actively engage with followers.

Social media offers businesses the opportunity to foster a sense of community and enhance brand awareness.

5. Adopt Artificial Intelligence in Customer Interactions

Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing how businesses interact with customers. Tools like AI chatbots can provide round-the-clock support, answer customer questions, and generate leads. Additionally, advanced AI solutions are emerging that can handle tasks like answering phone calls and communicating in multiple languages. Integrating AI into your business can enhance efficiency, improve customer service, and expand your reach.

6. Prioritize the Customer Experience

Happy customers are the key to long-term success. Every interaction— whether online or in person—should be designed with the customer in mind. To create a positive customer experience:

• Ensure your website is user-friendly and mobile-optimized.

• Respond to inquiries promptly and professionally.

• Personalize interactions to show customers they are valued.

A seamless and memorable customer experience fosters loyalty and encourages referrals.

7. Embrace Innovation and Adaptability

The business world is constantly evolving, and adaptability is crucial for success. Whether it’s adopting new technologies, refining processes, or exploring innovative marketing strategies, staying ahead of trends can set your business apart.

Focus on being proactive and open to change, as these qualities are essential for navigating today’s dynamic business landscape.

Growing a business isn’t just about working harder, it’s about working smarter. By mastering sales fundamentals, leveraging digital tools, managing your reputation, and embracing innovation, you can position your business for sustainable growth and success.

Empowering Diversity: CÉCS and Alberta Muembo’s Vision

Did you know that Saskatchewan is home to an organization dedicated to fostering economic growth, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities in both French and English? The Conseil Économique et Coopératif de la Saskatchewan (CÉCS), based in Regina with offices in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Prince Albert, has been a cornerstone of local economic development for the francophone community since 1947, offering a wide range of services to both anglophone and francophone individuals and businesses.

CÉCS is committed to empowering entrepreneurs, enhancing employment initiatives, and engaging with the community. One of its standout programs is the Access to Employment for Women of Visible Minorities program, a transformative initiative designed to connect women from visible minorities with tailored employment opportunities.

Alberta, originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo and a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, joined CÉCS in 2022. Passionate about inclusivity and creating opportunities for marginalized groups, Alberta was the driving force behind the Access to Employment for Women of visible minorities program for 18 months, showcasing her leadership in supporting clients from 22 nationalities in her first year alone. “The diversity of our clients reflects Saskatchewan's evolving demographic,” she shared.

Through the Access to Employment program, CÉCS offers mentorship, skills training, and networking opportunities, ensuring participants have the tools they need to navigate Saskatchewan's workforce effectively. Additionally, women entrepreneurs in the program can access government-funded business consultations and resources worth up to $3,500 — a transformative initiative that levels the playing field.

Now, as the SME Succession Hub Coordinator, Alberta leads efforts to ensure the longevity and success of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Saskatchewan. The SME Succession Hub is designed to assist business owners in planning and executing effective succession strategies, facilitating smooth transitions and preserving the legacy of local businesses.

Alberta emphasizes the importance of early succession planning, noting that "Proactive planning is key to maintaining the vitality of our local economy." The program offers tailored consultations, resources, and workshops to guide business owners through the complexities of succession, whether transitioning to family members, employees, or external buyers. Alberta also assists individuals, particularly women, interested in purchasing an established business.

What sets CÉCS apart is its bilingual service model. Whether you’re an established business owner, a newcomer, or an aspiring entrepreneur, CÉCS ensures that language is never a barrier. This unique feature supports Saskatchewan's bilingual community, making essential resources accessible to all.

As Alberta and CÉCS continue championing initiatives for women and minorities, their impact on the local economy grows. "We're not just offering services," Alberta emphasized. "We're building pathways to success."

Beyond aesthetics, Metric Design focuses on functionality, offering clients an exceptional experience from concept to completion.

Tamara’s commitment to innovation extends to technology with her latest project, MetricLy. In partnership with Saskatchewan Polytechnic, MetricLy is revolutionizing interior design by streamlining the selection and specification process for designers and clients. “It’s all about saving time, reducing errors, and making design accessible to everyone,” she explains.

Tamara’s dedication to empowering women is central to her mission. Recognizing that 87% of interior design professionals in Canada are women—many of whom face challenges in navigating male-dominated industries like construction— Tamara has aimed to foster leadership and confidence among women. She mentors her team, encouraging them to take ownership of projects and embrace their potential. “Supporting women’s success isn’t just an investment in my business; it’s a way to shape the future of our industry,” she states.

This sentiment is echoed by Slade Desrochers of Realty Consultants Group, who praised Tamara’s mentorship: “Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence have made Metric Design a trusted partner in my real estate business. Tamara exemplifies the spirit of community leadership.”

Tamara’s impact extends far beyond her business. Metric Design has contributed to Saskatoon’s growth through projects like the Metric Garden Lounge at the Delta Bessborough and collaborations with charitable initiatives such as the

Wiegers Care for Kids fundraiser. “Giving back has always been a cornerstone of my journey,” Tamara reflects. “This award is not just mine—it’s for the community that has supported me every step of the way.”

Deb Wiegers, co-founder of Wiegers Financial & Benefits, emphasized Tamara’s role in community building: “Metric Design has been an integral partner in our charitable events. Their work demonstrates their exceptional design skills and commitment to making Saskatoon a better place.”

Winning the Women for Women SABEX Award has solidified Tamara’s resolve to inspire the next generation of leaders. She urges aspiring entrepreneurs to embrace challenges, take risks, and invest in themselves. “Confidence doesn’t mean you won’t have doubts; it means you’ll take the leap anyway,” she advises.

Tamara’s journey—from hauling materials in her truck to leading a thriving design firm—is a testament to what women can achieve when they believe in themselves. As Cory Hill from the Business Development Bank of Canada noted, “Tamara’s resilience and vision have positioned Metric Design for long-term success. Her leadership is a model for others to follow.”

For Tamara, this award is not the pinnacle but a stepping stone toward greater impact. “This recognition motivates me to continue mentoring, innovating, and giving back,” she says. With Metric Design thriving and new projects on the horizon, Tamara Bowman is a shining example of how one woman’s determination can transform an industry and inspire a community.

As Saskatoon celebrates her achievement, it is clear that Tamara’s story is just beginning. Her legacy will shape spaces and lives, leaving an indelible mark on the city she calls home.
