IMAGING - A MUSEUM MADE DIGITAL
Capture Task - Photocopy The first assigned exercise was the capture task, using a photocopier to capture imagery of the existing Ian potter museums facade and the layout.
MSD - SEMESTER 1 2019
Facade
The Western facade of the museum consists of various integrated elements from steel cladding to the minutely carved artifacts. The three reproduction of the capture task of the faรงade used the approach of stretching and rotating.
I
In the first iteration, the facade is stretched horizontally along the central axis, which observes properties elasticity created by the stretching of artifacts, also increasing the proportion of the entrance and displacing the grid of the steel cladding.
IMAGING - A MUSEUM MADE DIGITAL
II
The second alternation observed a similar technique of stretched vertically, altering the proportion of the building, elongating and expanding the vertically which interprets as not being a museum facade but as a typical CBD skyscraper.
III
The third reproduction observed the technique of rotating clock-wise and anti-clockwise, which distorts the linearity of the faรงade. The sqaure/rectangular geometry is being deformed and distorted, creating it more abstract and complex.
MSD - SEMESTER 1 2019
Layout
The layout of the museum is quite linear with walls placed along a certain grid, and the spatial configuration of the space is in the form cube or a cuboid. In terms of reproduction of the layout, the techniques were rotating and moving along the x/y axis. All three reproduction observed a shift in the spatial configuration from linear to more organic.
I
In the first reproduction, layout observes fluidity but consists of a similar grid along one of the axis.
IMAGING - A MUSEUM MADE DIGITAL
II
In the second reproduction, it observes a spatial configuration, where one end of the space is compressed and squeezed, preferred more in the area with an acoustical requirement such as an auditorium.
III
The third reproduction has observed a better result, wherein along with rotating, the technique of squishing of the paper is used, which breaks the rhythm of the fluid, to form a more of series of abstract curved lines. Capture Task - Photogrammetry
MSD - SEMESTER 1 2019
The second capture task is to produce a photogrammetry model of the sculptures located in the MSD basement. The task is to critically analyze, the photogrammetry model using wireframe, Point cloud, and rendered visualization, in their original and magnified scale. During the photogrammetry process, due to the sculpture size & location, only 180 degree was available to capture the image, which allowed the rear side of the model unfinished and dilapidated, which had a greater output for visualization.
IMAGING - A MUSEUM MADE DIGITAL
Wireframe
Actual Scale In the wireframe visualization of the actual size model, due to the exposed backgrounds, there is a sense of overlapped mesh and the sides which distorts the model vertically from the center.
Magnified Scale Whereas in the magnified form, we generally talk about the output of the fluency in all the process, this zoomed imaged provided a sense of the anti-gravity, the fluids are breaking displaced a king of running water or water bubble floating in the air.
MSD - SEMESTER 1 2019
PointCloud
Actual Scale The point cloud output observed a similar result as the wireframe, but the vertical distortion has a sense of smoothness.
Magnified Scale Whereas in the zoomed image, a rhythmic pattern is created by a shift from dense point to broader point from left to right but it observes a slice at the center which breaks the rhythm of the image.
IMAGING - A MUSEUM MADE DIGITAL
Meshed
Actual Scale
Magnified Scale The render output had a slightly different visualization due to the factor of light. In the magnified image, the object has a sense of curve and smooth but its reflection is sharp and acute.
MSD - SEMESTER 1 2019
IMAGING - A MUSEUM MADE DIGITAL
Capture Task - Lidar Scan The third capture task observes, these approach of a kind of mechanism of viewing in and out from different perspective.
MSD - SEMESTER 1 2019
Cultural Rubble
I
In the first reproduction, a sense of transparency and disappearance is observed where the integrate rubble tends to disappear when it is closer.
IMAGING - A MUSEUM MADE DIGITAL
II
In the second iteration, you can observe the linearity on one and the distortion on other
III
Whereas, in the unmagnified version, distorted bits and pieces of the rubble seem more like HR Giger Allien dies.
