INTERVIEW
Where do you come from? Tell us about yourself and starting with awesome art? I was born in Yogyakarta, but since I was 5 or 6 i moved to Jakarta and lived there ever since. Well how I start drawing and doing art was because my brother was always into drawing since he’s a little kid, but I never got interested in it until I was about 16, so I started doing sketch and learning how to do it by looking at him draw. And I searched about the different styles and ideas and just got so into it and here I am now.. How did you make the decision to pursue art as career? It was actually my uncle who brought me here to Bali. Because back in Jakarta I was a pretty introvert person, I don’t ever go out and was pretty much scared of people for some reason, and my uncle (his name is Tanno) saw me doing nothing but drawing now and then, and since he’s living in Bali and was visiting home then, he saw my drawings and thought maybe I could have an opportunity to work in Bali like I could learn how to tattoo since it’s a pretty big industry there. I thought he was out of his mind for a sec since I never even go out of the house and he wanted me to live in Bali...but then again if I think about it what else am I gonna do here in Jakarta so I said yes to it and moved. (sorry this is probably too long already, feel free to shorten it out hehe sorry) but long story short, i got to bali, met Ezy, he adopted me as his apprentice and taught me how to tattoo and everything so yeah that’s how I got into this tattooing career now. How long does it take to do one picture? It depends on the drawing really. It could be 5 minutes when it’s small to 20 hours when it’s big... How do you think being a woman, shapes your vision as an artist? Well I don’t think it really matters, I could probably born as a man and have the same vision of the art I made today.. For me it’s really who and what you’re surrounded with that shapes your vision of it. Do you have any advice for aspiring artist? question everything, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone cause you don’t know where it would lead you to really. Well at least that worked for me.. What are some of your favorite pieces that you’ve created? My first favorite is The Seer for Vikings tv series that I made on last year’s (2017) Bali Tattoo Expo, because it was the first most detailed piece that I made, kinda pushed myself to do it just to find out if I can do that much detail and I did! And second is my recent work which is Moonalisa, its basically the Monalisa with dissorted eyes and moon as the background. Because combining 2 pictures like a collage or a double exposure is what I really love to do, and i think it’s my most succesful piece of collage that I made so far..

INTERVIEW
Do you think it’s important for tattoos to ‘mean something?’ I don’t think it is. I think the experience of getting a tattoo is meaningful enough.. A tattoo can mean nothing but if the experience of getting it with the artist is cool, it’s cool. Like you won’t forget and regret what you get you know what I mean.. How many tattoos do you have? 4 and still counting hehe sorry grandma If someone is thinking about having a tattoo - what tips/advice would you give? Well you should think about it really well, because its a tattoo, they don’t dissapear in a year or two, you don’t want to regret it in the future years.. Unless if you really don’t care you can always get it covered you know If you weren’t a tattoo artist, what would you be? Dead. Or at least an illustrator What are the benefit and challenges of being a professional artist? The benefit is that I can always meet new people and friends, and learn more about everything through them cause they always have interesting stories and friends just really are precious. The challenges is that when you’re in so much thoughts at times but you have drawings to do. Having to be perfect all the times (I’m a bit of a perfectionist) and it sometimes stressing me out when a little bit of something does not seem right in my mind hehe Who are your influences? In the present times, its the people I surounded with. Friends. How I work, how I think about things, how I learn, its all from them. As an artist, do you have a favorite color? Why? Black. Obviously hehe cause it’s amazing how you can create shades with just one color..and I’m also not very good at combining colors How do you keep the mood when making work? and if you get stuck what will you do? How I keep the mood with drawing is munching on snacks... though I can’t really do it while tattooing so I’ll just try not to think about anything else but the tattoo that I’m making. If I get stuck I will ask for a break, a ciggies or two will help most of the times.. There are plans to make your gallery and art exhibition? what goals will you pursue and realize in the near future? No not really, I think I will focus on tattoing first but maybe, sometime later. Goals is still, learning how to do tattoos best, reaching for the smallest details is what I’m really eager to be good at, and maybe later, to travel and see how the tattoo world is outside the country. INTERVIEW
Tell me about yourself and what do you do? My name is Hemas Maulidinie Suganda, I am someone who is very interested in art and want to understand it, loves nature and a bit fussy. I am a graduate of D3 FSRD Maranatha Christian University, major fashion design. I’m working as a fashion designer, stylist, and content creator at @carlaclothing. Freelance design hijab also, and run own products @houseofh.official, and some projects woven fabric with friends to be made as trendy as possible, to be received by young people today, in order to develop the local culture is not just branded goods. According to you, favorite part of being a fashion designer is? The favorite part of fashion designer I can see the vast development of fashion today not only for myself, but for others as well. Fashion can also impact on social life and help the small community economy. For example we are developing traditional cloth from the interior, such activities can develop traditional fabrics that have been only used by parents only, but now how we develop to be used in young people while helping the economy of traditional cloth craftsmen in the area. So develop something that we already have into something more valuable and become immortal. What skills do you think are important for a successful fashion designer? The very first skill is be humble and can accept the opinions of others. Secondly, hardskill and softskill are also necessary for our knowledge and skill as fashion designer. Everything from ideas, concepts, drawing, sewing, photographer if you can, to styling and to make the work itself with all the skills you have. It’s more expensive and that’s his art. What qualifications are required for a fashion designer’s career? Being someone who is creative with your own ideas, expands more on new things. Fashion is not just from the existing trends, many things can be something new. And do not ever imitate the work of others, be yourself. Be different How do you keep up to date about fashion? In addition to browsing and reading digital magazines which is in today’s era. A better place to get inspired is from real life, see what people are wearing this, other people’s funds are using what. Look at the trend not from one circle, see from all circles. Sometimes we can not be too idealistic What do you think about the ethics of work and the type of ethics you believe in working with fashion? The most important ethic is to be humble, disciplined, conscientious, responsible, not to imitate the work of others and mentally. All that ethics must be instilled within, because when we face competitiveness in the fashion world that’s the most powerful foundation. Stay on the stand and focus to reach your dreams Say something about your background? I come from Bali, does not mean I’m Balinese. I am a Sundanese too, because both people came from Bandung then they live in Bali, and I was born in Bali. I went to college in Bandung and decided to work in Bandung. I am not a descendant of artist families, but they love an art. I love to do nature since elementary school because I often invite nature activities first, so I love nature since then until now, used to often tracking and up the mountain. Since college and work many busy, plus in my environment no one likes it so

my hobby is hampered. Since childhood I love to draw, I do not like to learn matemics, physics, biology etc. And when high school I decided to choose I will be a fashion designer, because my passion is like clothes, mix n match clothes, and critical if you see people who can not look stylish, especially to my family, I often comment if they wear clothes that do not suitable. I am fortunate to have parents and family who always mendukug what I like and I want until now I can try myself to be what I want. I love my family so much What do you consider important in the fashion industry aspect? How do we better see aspects of the part of ourselves that can not be changed, such as body shape, hair color, skin color and others that can be an important new thing for the development of fashion industry. So fashion can be enjoyed and in use by anyone with their shortcomings or advantages. Who is handling the project? For now I still control myself, sometimes ask opinions to friends who already experienced in the field of fashion or other. Motto and quotes your life? “Be creative person and life from different angle” How do you describe your personal style? Moody, depending on the mood and go to his game. Honestly more shirts on the appeal of fashionable clothes, I like basic t-shirt with jeans, outter with cullote pants. Very simple. But sometimes I can look excited, with bright colors, and have a patch or smoking. How do you handle stress? Easy. Light an aromatherapy candle, open a window room, and listen to jazz music. I’m not a jazz lover, but just poking in, then reading a book. Sometimes I go to a quiet and cool cafe, or look at the landscape. That’s the simpler part. If I have more time and money, definitely traveling. How do you deal with arrogant clients? Simple. Inhale, speak politely, humble, and patient. Make the client arrogant an input to build. How comfortable do you work with other models and designers? My way to be comfortable working with models and other designers. Should be more friendly aja, lots of sharing, many stories and sometimes can curcol. Haha from there we can build trust to build good cooperation, because it starts from good also. SAUVAGE

INTERVIEW
How do you connect past and present fashion trends? Trends in the past have their respective trends in each of their styles, most of which are repeated in the current trends. Now how do we cultivate it more modern to be accepted today, without eliminating the value of fashion trends in the past. What are the trends you currently see in the fashion industry? In my opinion this year I see aka tone trend where a designer will work with the artists, that will be booming. Because I am very interested in art, why not that art is wearable! It will be unique and cool. Messages for fashion people? Be yourself completely. Show who you are, do not listen to other people’s words. What you want is from you, not from others. Show me you are different and you are fashion. Which country do you like? Never been abroad but I love LA and japan. Certainly. I am very obessed to live and have a career abroad. Hopefully what I try so far, can dreams come true between the two countries. Your label stands on the year? It will be very soon! There are already new concepts, new ideas, and other sweet stories from my brand collection (@houseofh.official) Who is your favorite designer? Waaw ... if in Tanya like this like confused. I have a lot of favorite designers. Rei kawakubo she’s amazing, yohji yamamoto too. Karl Lagerfeld of course Where do you see yourself in the next ten years? In 10 years I might be overseas, owning a fashion mini studio, my own office with a production room behind it, a brand that has been known for a bit but they love it, I’m happy. The most proud achievement? Just one, Make parents proud and happy. Check out her works @houseofh.official

Hi Nata, can you tell us bit more about your self? Hi, I’m a 24 year old makeup artist from Moscow, Russia, currently based in Bali. I’ve always loved to travel, and when I first came to Bali for a short holiday I soon realised that I wanna stay and start my life here. I love food, WINE and dogs… A lot! How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry? I studied makeup quite recently last year, however my passion and interest has been growing for it for a long time. I have been a model in Bali for 2 years and I really love being in the fashion industry, you always meet so many interesting and creative people, and you’re always learning something new. Along the way I got to work a lot with makeup artists and it always intrigued me and so I decided to try it for myself. I went to Moscow to study in the best makeup school “Icon Face”, where I learnt so many interesting things. I couldn’t wait to start bringing more beauty into lives and so I started working straight after returning to my home Bali. You could say that Bali has guided me to this dream job of mine.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
If you weren’t a makeup artist, what else would you do?
My inspiration is all around me. There are so many beautiful things that nature shows to us, we just have to see it.
Before I’ve began with makeup I was practicing with some basic coding. Web developing is a really interesting profession, but also a very hard one. If there is no makeup in my life I think I would study more coding .
Who are some people that have supported & inspired you throughout your career? My boyfriend Dan has supported me all the way, even when I was thinking that it isn’t gonna work. He is my biggest support. What is your strongest/favourite makeup look you’ve created? For the moment I think it was makeup for the beautiful model, Hanna. We had a shoot “Wes Anderson” style. I really love all his movies and it was a lot of fun to create something like that and playing with colours. Big thanks to you for this cool experience. Tell me about a time you had a very stressful day at work and how did you handle it?
Travel is a big part of a makeup artists life, and carrying a LOT of stuff is also part of our lives, so what personal products make the cut when you travel? Strobe cream by MAC for natural shine, Make Up For Ever foundation , blush by MAC , highlighter KIKO, mascara , gel for eyebrows and red lipstick . And of course skin care products. Dream collaboration? My biggest dream to have collaboration with Chanel. I adore their style. Follow & collaborate @mirkina1
I’m happy to say I haven’t had one yet :) What do you love most about make up? The greatest thing about makeup is that you can make someone smile and be happy. It’s an amazing feeling when your client is happy, you just wanna fly to the moon and create more and more and more. Signature look? Highlighter and geometric details. Beauty icons? Australian model Georgia Fowler and American actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Natalie Portman. What are some common beauty mistakes that women make? All we need to do is highlight beauty and hide flaws , but sometimes women get this wrong. Don’t hide your beauty under kilograms of cosmetic. What are your favorite products that you use on yourself? I love to use Make Up For Ever “Water Blend” foundation, it’s really light and almost invisible on your skin. Red lipstick and highlighter are my best friends ;)
