Check Metra for express train times. This will get you downtown in just 2025 minutes! Normal driving traffic on I-57N is also around 25 minutes to downtown.
When traveling by Metra during rush hour back to the suburbs, get on the first few train cars-- sometimes the others will not open. Pay attention for announcements like this when boarding.

Uber and Lyft can be a good deal in lieu of taxis or parking garages. If you do decide to drive though, make sure you either use Spot Hero, or get the Park Chicago app to pay any place that is metered.
Biking in Chicago is a unique experience. Rent a Divvy bike at one of the many Divvy bike stations to take a ride down the beautiful, Lake Shore Drive Trail or through downtown. Watch out for traffic!
The Chicago City Pass is an affordable way to see many of the city’s tourist attractions. Visit citypass.com/chicago
Google and Apple Maps will be your best friend whether traveling by car or public transportation. If you’re unsure of where to go, they will tell you exactly.
TIPS 4

The CTA is easy to navigate in Chicago. If you think you’ll be traveling around a lot, the day or week Ventra pass will save you a lot of money. Visit an L station or local CVS to get one, and add $ with the Ventra app.
Take advantage of Lake Michigan & the Chicago River, and see the city by boat. We recommend the Chicago Architecture Tour criuse, and the Seadog speed boat at Navy Pier.
9 As awesome as the downtown area is, the best place to explore our city is in the surrounding neighborhoods. Here you’re more likely to find chic, trendy bars and restaurants, and other hot spots. Check out the Gold Coast, West Loop, Wicker Park, Wrigleyville, Boystown, Logan Square, Lincoln Park, Chinatown, Greektown and Pilsen areas!
10 From our place, the easiest way to the airport is via car. We recommend catching an Uber or Lyft. If you are already downtown, the Blue Line will take you to O’Hare, and the Orange Line will take you to Midway.
