e.s.t.
estremamente sul tasto, halfway on the fingerboard

WINDS tongue as fast as possible (non fluttertongue!)
All notes from the first until the second sign are multiphonics
PERFORMANCE NOTES
,
The 4 movements are played quasi attacca: the gaps in between shouldn't be longer than a breath mark ( ), that is 3 seconds at the most.
vi
Instrumentation: Flute (d. Piccolo) Oboe 2 Clarinets in Bb (1. d. Piccolo Cl. in Eb, 2. d. Bass Cl. in Bb) Bassoon Horn in F Trumpet in C Trombone Percussion (1 player) : Xylophone Grande Cassa Crotales Piece of railway track (low pitch) Tenor drum Medium-sized cardboard coffee cup Lion's roar 2 Tuned cowbells (in C and E ) Celesta Piano ] 1 player 2 Violins Viola Cello Contrabass
Trumpet and trombone equipped with straight metal, harmon and plunger mutes The piano and celesta should be placed at a straight (or steeper) angle from each other, with the celesta on the right hand side, enabling the pianist to play both instruments simultaneously. Although a piece of railway track is preferred, if one cannot be found, a large metal object such as a break drum or large coil can be used instead. A low pitch is called for. Xylophone, Celesta and Piccolo sound one octave higher, Crotales two octaves higher. Contrabass sounds one octave lower, and Bass Clarinet a major second lower.
Score in C Dur. c. 12:30
