The Lynbrook home was designed and built by Alan Ingram in 1960 for the Mann Family, owners of Mann Travel. Alan Ingram, born in London, graduate of the Royal Institute of British Architects, moved to North Carolina in 1956. He opened an office in Charlotte in 1960 and practiced architecture in the area for approximately 50 years. He designed many homes in the area as well as industrial and retirement facilities. Ingram was not only an architect but also... “learned numous foreign languages, wrote poetry, sculpted wonderful sculptures, became an accomplished horseman, a skilled archer and a pilot” (ncmodernist.org).
