Bill Cunningham New York (2010) TV-PG This documentary follows the incredibly charming Bill Cunningham, a legendary New York City street style photographer with a unique love for and approach to then arts of fashion and photography. His kindness, respect for others, and complete humility is inspiring and will make any photographer proud to be in the business, plus his smile makes my heart grow three sizes. Familiar faces like Iris Apfel and Anna Wintour are also interviewed. The Young Kieslowski (2014) R This film festival favorite is about two college freshman who quickly go from being virgins to expecting twins. The male protagonist, Brian (played by Ryan Malgarini), narrates the film, which adds a lot of room for characterization and humor. The relationship between Brian and Leslie, the female protagonist (played by Haley Lu Richardson) is also tested as the subject of abortion is touched upon in a thoughtful way. Like Sunday, Like Rain (2014) R Leighton Meester (of Gossip Girl fame) stars as a musician who, after cutting ties with her boyfriend (played by Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong), takes a job as a live-in nanny to a 12year-old mathematical genius and cello prodigy (played by Julian Shatkin). As the main characters learn about themselves and each other, they re-evaluate their definitions of love in this poignant movie, which also features incredible performances from all actors. Broadway Idiot (2013) NR Perfect for any Green Day and/or Broadway fan, this documentary explores the process of bringing the hit musical to American Idiot to Broadway, which is based on the Green Day album of the same name. Billie Joe Armstrong is featured throughout the process as he works his way toward his Broadway debut in the musical as he falls in love with the show and the new approach to his music. Man Up (2015) R Man Up is a light-hearted romantic comedy about a woman named Nancy (Lake Bell), who is mistaken for Jack (played by Simon Pegg)’s blind date and sees the date through. The pair encounter Jack’s ex-wife, Nancy’s old classmate, and a variety of other snags that make the date memorable for more reasons than one.

About the Studio: Located in Glen cove, NY, Cove Studios is a historic recording studio. Famous artists such as Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, and Billy Joel as well as famous albums such as Pretty Woman, Dream Girls, and Hotel Transylvania 2 were recorded there. A few surprising elements of Cove Studios are the location and size. It's located in a suburban area, which is not a place expected to be used to record very successful music. It's also extremely small with a little amount of two studios. Visit their website http://covecitysoundstudios.com for more!

Sawyer: When did you all meet? Chris Dijon: Well, when I started the band 10 years ago, it started off with me and two brothers. Then each brother progressively quit-not because of any bad blood-one moved to Tennessee, and the other one got a different job. Then Simon (Janusas)’s the only one who's stayed with me, and he's been with me the longest. So, then we went on Craigslist, we found Carl (Ferrara), and Carl played with us at the Cutting Room, which is a great place in New York City. Andrew (Herbert Andrew Herrera), our drummer, we found and he played his first show with us at the New York Marathon. And now we've all been together for two years. Do you guys write all your own music? Yes. Can you tell us a little bit about the writing process? Chris: It typically startsSimon: -Well typically, I get a text a 4:30 in the morning from Chris asking me about chords for a chord lineup. And normally, they used to do it with Chris and MaxChris: -My other brother. But this whole album is with the new band. And basically, I'll come up with one like 'From Dad' or 'Will You Catch Me' and each song has a meaning. So, 'From Dad' is a letter to my boys. And I'll be sitting there with my phone and I'll come up with one line: (sings) if I had six months to live, and that's how the song started. And then I wrote the lyrics (sings): what would I do what would I tell you about. I was playing that song when, by fate, my kids came to watch me yesterday. As I'm playing the song my kids come in-and they've never heard the song-and my oldest son has tears falling down his face because the chorus goes (sings): someday I'll be gone but my love will never leave. And we're going to release that one on Father’s Day. 23

You said that your inspirations were your sons...do you have any influences in terms of music or sound? Our sound is very eclectic. Like, 'Fugitive' is like a hard rock, and then there's one that's a ballad. So it's very different. I mean, our influences go from like U2 to Kings of Leon, Imagine Dragons, to the Beatles to Guns N’ Roses- you name it. I mean pretty much everything there is, we’re inspired by. So, out of all the songs you've written, what is your favorite and why? Each one for a different reason, but there's this one 'Will You Catch Me,' and this one has a deeper meaning. I had some bumps and bruises with my wife in my life, and so I wrote this song. The main line is 'will you catch me if I fall' but there's also part of the song that goes (sings): standing at your door, looking at the ground, pouring out my heart- and then, when you get in a fight with somebody-waiting for a soundlike 'I screwed up, I'm sorry, I'm looking at the floor because I'm embarrassed to look at you because I messed up, and I'm waiting for you to say anything: you know, I forgive you, I hate you, I love you,' whatever. So there's a lot to it.

It's a process. And then sometimes we add something we never thought of, and that's why we have our producer, Eren, and he tells us what we need to fix. So, you have 3, 4 days for the whole album? Yes. But when we wrote it, it took us a year and a half. Making the music and writing is a lot harder. Where can people listen to you guys and find your music? ReverbNation, Facebook of course, Instagram, chrisdijon.com, YouTube is a big one...we're on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora. And the best is to come see us play live. We're releasing this album at the Cutting Room in the city June 10th. We've come so far- we've opened for Quiet Riot, Sponge, Dishwalla, Saving Abel, we played the Marathon...we've come a long way. ⚡

I write songs because it fills my heart. What's a typical day in the studio like? It's a lot...with big bands, like your favorite bands, they book this place for months, but they have endless money- we had to bang this out in 3, 4 days. So you know, we get here early, we start with Eren (Cannata), our producer, and John (Arbuckle), our engineer, and they tell us 'okay, you're going to sing now, you're going to do guitar now,' whatever. At first we lay down the songs as a scratch. So we play as a band, and they get an idea of what the songs sound like. Then, we each do our own parts. Then each thing gets added in- guitars, vocals, background vocals, piano, Sawyer Magazine / 24

After you clean out your closet for Spring, the next thing you should tackle is your Instagram feed. Having a series of great pictures on your account not only attracts a lot of followers, but it signifies that you have a creative eye. Not to mention, building up a feed that’s completely your own shoes off your personality and can be really fun. Here are three quick tips on how to enhance your feed.

Decide on a Theme

A strong feed reflects your personality and interests, so decide what you want your theme to be. A few ideas are creating an account around the city you live in, a certain color, pastels, nature/urban imagery, the season you're in etc. If you prefer a more abstract theme, try taking all your pictures in a certain light, capturing only the details of what surrounds you, or using filters. Which bring us to the next point‌

Learn How to Edit Your Pictures

The key to giving your grid a coherent look is editing your pictures in a certain way. Adjusting all of your pictures to have a certain temperature (warm or cool), saturation, contrast or faded eect, etc. will enhance the overall theme of your feed and serves as what connects one picture to the next. A few free apps that you can download for easy editing on your phone are VSCO, Rookie Cam, PicsArt, and Eectshop.

Be Creative

In order to set your feed apart from all the others, try customizing some of your pictures by drawing on them (you can achieve this eect using apps like You Doodle). You can also experiment with some of your posts by using a double-exposure app like Fused, which will elevate your pictures to a degree and give them a hazy eect. You can also vary your type posts by using Boomerang, an app by Instagram that allows you to post videos of small actions moving back and forth, similar to a gif. These videos enhance your feed and the timeline of your followers.

Know How to Transition

Our interests and personalities don't stay exactly the same for very long, so neither should your feed. When it’s time for a change, start with a picture that has elements of both your old and new feed, then start posting with your new theme after. The transition picture serves as a kind of buer between feeds, and ensures that your feed is looking great during and after the change. ✨
