2018 PROGRAM GUIDE SBC of VIRGINIA

1

Welcome from OUR PRESIDENT I am thrilled to welcome you to the 2018 SBC of Virginia Annual Homecoming! Thank you for making the journey from across the Commonwealth to celebrate what God has done through our partnership of churches this year. We pray that together we will be captured by God’s vision for what He has in store for the SBC of Virginia in the months to come. Through the annual reports, Gospel-soaked messages, inspiring corporate worship, and fellowship with one another, we believe that God will bring us to a united, joyful purpose to glorify Him, to share the Gospel with those far from God, and to bring Him pleasure in all that we do. I personally pray that God would overwhelm each of us gathered with His life-shaping, church-transforming, soul-satisfying love. We are blessed as a convention of churches by our executive director, Dr. Brian Autry. His powerful, wise leadership is a grace of God to our churches. We are thankful for the tireless efforts of the SBC of Virginia staff who have worked so hard to make this Homecoming such a special time. The pastor, staff, and congregation of Liberty also deserve our thanks for providing a marvelous welcome to us. May God’s grace meet us and may His mission unite us together to share the Good News of His love so that those far from God might know that They Are Not Alone! In the fields,

ERIC THOMAS

Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church, Norfolk President, SBC of Virginia

Welcome from OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Welcome, messengers and guests, to the 2018 SBC of Virginia Annual Homecoming! On behalf of your SBC of Virginia team, convention officers, Executive Board, and our wonderful host church and pastor, welcome! We pray that this will be much more than just another meeting, but instead, a time for SBC of Virginia churches to join together as we worship the Lord and celebrate how we are working together to plant, strengthen, mobilize, and revitalize churches—so that the Gospel of Christ may be proclaimed. Over the past few years, our Annual Homecoming has emphasized that Churches Are Not Alone—you are not alone, and we are not alone. But this cooperative Gospel partnership is not just for our mutual aid and benefit. While it is true that you are not alone and we are not alone, this Great Commission coalition of churches exists so that They Are Not Alone. We are committed to proclaiming Jesus Christ across Virginia, Metro DC, America, and around the world so that THEY may know and worship Jesus Christ as Lord. As you experience this Homecoming these next couple of days, our prayer is that you will be encouraged by the ministry that is taking place thanks to your church partnership in praying, sending, giving, and going through the SBC of Virginia. Your brother in Christ,

BRIAN AUTRY
