On the 21st of October 2022, a joint event was held by SBLBSHP and SSHP at UCI student chapter. at the Acapulco Restaurant in Long Beach. The event comprised of an educational talk presented by the industry sponsor Genentech on the topic of exploring treatment options in Her2+ early breast cancer. Multiple pharmacists from SBLB came to participate and listen in on the informative talk.

After the talk, the UCI students stayed to partake in a residency panel. There were 9 residents in attendance from various residency programs in South Bay, Long Beach, and Irvine. The pharmacy residents came from Kaiser Permanente Downey, Long Beach MemorialCare, and UC Irvine Medical Center. SSHP at UCI is grateful for all the residents who participated: Dr.

Stephanie Bandera, Dr. Tracy Ly, Dr. Kristin Keeno, Dr. Tammy Nguyen, Dr. Angela Chaili, Dr. Jasmine Ventenilla, Dr.

Joanne Wong, Dr. Sandy Wong, and Dr. Catherine Tran for providing the students with insights and wisdom regarding their residency experiences. We also want to extend our gratitude to the residency program directors who were instrumental in letting the residents know about the event.

There were about 24 students from UC Irvine in attendance to the event. The event was a success, and it was deemed very informative and insightful by the students. Timothy Nguyen, a first year PharmD student from UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences said: “This experience was invaluable because we were able to listen to and interact with recent graduates that are currently attending various residency programs.” It was truly wonderful for the students to experience this event with the help of South Bay Long Beach chapter.

I want to especially thank Dr. Michelle Ding in helping me organize this event. I am eternally thankful for her guidance in making this event a success!
