13 2013 WOMEN’S SOCCER HONORS
COACH OF THE YEAR LANCE KEY - TRINITY UNIVERSITY
Lance Key, in his 10th year as head coach at Trinity, led the Tigers to their 18th SCAC championship - the eighth under Key - with a 12-0-0 conference mark and 21-0-1 overall record. Trinity will be competing in its ninth NCAA postseason tournament in the past 10 years, and 19th overall, when the Tigers take on Augustana (Ill.) College this weekend in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs. Key has posted a 164-17-14 record (.877) in his 10 seasons at the helm of the women’s soccer program at Trinity – giving him the highest winning percentage among anyone who has ever coached in the SCAC in any team sport. The SCAC Coach-of-the-Year award is the sixth of his career. Key received four votes from his peers in the COTY voting. Glenn Evans of Centenary received two votes and Jene’ Baclawski of Southwestern received the remaining vote.
JENNIFER WHITE DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-YEAR
Jennifer White, a senior defender from Albuquerque, N.M., was Trinity’s most consistent defender throughout the year. Great at anticipating service to the feet and cutting out possession, White was the leader of the league’s best defense that posted 16 shutouts and allowed just six goals in 22 games, including only two goals in SCAC play. A two-time SCAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week, she also chipped in on the offensive end with two goals and seven assists (tied for fourth in the SCAC) for 11 points.
SARAH BEVINS
CO-NEWCOMER OF-THE-YEAR
Sarah Bevins, a first-year forward from Austin, Texas, was third among all conference first-year players (11th overall) in scoring with 19 points on seven goals and five assists. She was second on her own team in scoring and was SCAC Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week in Week 8 when she had four goals in two conference wins, including a hat trick in a 4-0 win against Centenary College.
EMILY JORGENS OFFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-YEAR
Emily Jorgens, a junior midfielder from Austin, Texas, is currently leading the league in scoring with 17 goals and a SCAC single-season record 28 assists for 62 points – the second-highest single season point total in conference history. She has a league-high seven game-winning goals this season. A prolific passer, Jorgens already owns the SCAC record for career assists (59) and, entering this weekend’s NCAA tournament, is only two assists away from tying the NCAA Division III single-season mark. Her 137 career points ranks seventh on the league’s all-time scoring list. Jorgens is the second consecutive Trinity player to earn back-to-back SCAC Offensive Player-of-the-Year awards, joining Abigail Loar who was the first player in league history to accomplish that feat (2010 and 2011).
ENDAISIA LOVE CO-NEWCOMER
OF-THE-YEAR
Endaisia Love, a first-year forward from San Antonio, Texas, led all SCAC first-year players in scoring with 22 points (nine goals, four assists) and finished seventh among all players. Love had her breakout weekend in Week 9 when she scored five goals and assisted on another and recorded both game-winners in the weekend sweep of Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner University. Love had four second-half goals in the win against TLU, tying the program’s single-game scoring record and becoming just the fifth player in Trinity history to score four goals in a game and the first since 2003.
