Hello there! I’m a shepherd.
Normally I keep my sheep near Bethlehem, but I’ve been searching for one of my lost lambs. He’s always getting into strange places.
Along the way, I got to see the most amazing thing: the birth of the baby king–God’s Son, Jesus!
Come with me as I look for my lost lamb, and you’ll see the greatest story ever. In each picture, keep an eye out for my lamb and other interesting items.

An Engagement Party
Our story starts in the town of Nazareth in the land of Judea. The whole town was celebrating with the newest young couple to get engaged: Mary and Joseph. Joseph was a carpenter, and his family threw a huge party to celebrate the engagement. It was the biggest party I’ve ever seen! Mary and Joseph loved each other and were excited to get married.

I was searching near Mary’s house when a huge, shining angel appeared to Mary on the roof. She looked as scared as I felt! “Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel said. “I am Gabriel. God has a special job for you. You will have a baby boy. He will be God’s own Son, and He will save all people.” I didn’t know how Mary could have a baby without a man, but Mary trusted God.

Look at all those important people and fancy stuff!
This is a Roman palace. Emperor Caesar Augustus was signing a law that everyone in the empire must go to their family’s hometown and register. He wanted to know how many people were in the empire so he could tax us. Since Judea is in the Roman empire, this meant we all had to register, too.
