Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry
Established in 1906, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) is an internationally renowned business organisation and the apex body of the Chinese business community in Singapore. It is the founder of the biennial World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention and the World Chinese Business Network (www.wcbn.com.sg), a global online business information portal. It plays a key and pro-active role in representing the interests of the local business community. In its continued drive for service excellence, the SCCCI has become the first business chamber in the region to be awarded ISO 9001 certification since 1995. In 2018, the Chamber successfully upgraded its ISO certification to ISO 9001:2015.
The SCCCI has a membership network comprising some 5,000 corporate members and has more than 160 trade association members, representing over 40,000 companies including large financial and business organisations, multinational corporations, government-linked companies, and small and medium enterprises from a wide spectrum of trades and industries. These members together provide vast resources and opportunities which enable the SCCCI to develop an influential global Chinese business network for business, education, culture and community development. In return, they share a strong sense of pride and identity together and benefit immensely from the SCCCI’s membership services, facilities and activities.
Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia Singapore was established in 1967 as a marker of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Singapore. An Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, H.E. Suryo Pratomo currently leads the Embassy.
Strengthening political, economic, and cultural relations between Indonesia and Singapore is among the Embassy’s highest priorities.
The Embassy plays an important role in facilitating cooperation in various fields between various stakeholders of the two countries so that it will bring concrete benefits to both countries.
Another primary function of the Embassy is to maintain consular relations and provide essential consular services, protection, and legal and physical assistance to Indonesian citizens and legal entities in Singapore.
In doing its responsibilities, the Embassy collaborates with various stakeholders of the two countries and other foreign missions in Singapore, including ministries, government agencies, nongovernment institutions, business associations, and community organizations.
Ministry of Investment / Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM)
BKPM or Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board is a Government Agency, which in charge of implementing policy and service coordination in investment in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.
As the primary interface between business and government, BKPM is mandated to boost domestic and foreign direct investment through creating a conducive investment climate. Restored to ministry level status in 2009, and reporting directly to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, this investment promotion agency’s goal is not only to seek more domestic and foreign investment but also seek quality investments that may drive the Indonesian economy and absorb a lot of manpower.
Established in 1973, BKPM replaced the functions that previously undertaken by the Investment Technical Committee, a Government Institution which was established in 1968. In its organizational structure, BKPM is led by a Chairman, in accordance with the Chairman of BKPM Regulation no. 90/2007. Since October 2019, BKPM is chaired by Bahlil Lahadalia.
In April 2021 the President officially appointed Bahlil Lahadalia as the Minister of Investment/Chairman of BKPM also marked the change BKPM’s nomenclature to be the Ministry of Investment/BKPM based on Presidential Regulation no. 31 of 2021. The Ministry of Investment/BKPM will be the focal point for connecting all investment sectors from the technical ministries. As the main link between business and government, the ministry is responsible for creating a conducive investment climate in Indonesia.
Indonesia Investment Promotion Centre (IIPC) Singapore is the representative office of Ministry of Investment/Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) for ASEAN region. In total, there are 9 IIPC offices worldwide.
