t’s easy to see – literally – why people return to Bridle Hill Farm. The rolling green fields are interrupted only by tall trees and white fences, in between which meander all manner of horses and ponies. This is the kind of farm you’ve dreamed about, high atop a hill offering panoramas of yet more farms and fields. And by the time your day is over, you’ll feel like you’re part of the farm, thanks to the hands-on approach of Bridle Hill’s owners Dan and Elinor Young and their talented team – previous experience with horses and farms not required!

“We take all ages,” says Elinor as she brushes one of the 11 specially-selected horses available to the public. “Eighty-five to 90 percent of our customers are first-timers,” adds Dan. “They’ve just got to be able to sit on the horse on their own.” Up to eight people at a time can set out with a trail guide across Bridle Hill’s 35 scenic acres, any time of the year under virtually any daytime weather conditions. The gentle horses and ponies don’t mind the rain or the cold. “We’ll go out in anything, except hail and thunderstorms,” Elinor affirms. But there’s far more to Bridle Hill than

While a bevy of outdoor sculptures catch the eye outside the Dancing Cat Saloon and Catskill Distilling Company in Bethel, NY, did you note the cozy fire pit behind them? You won’t find any “don’t walk on the grass” signs here – owners Stacy Cohen and Monte Sachs invite everyone to sit a spell on their wide front lawn and enjoy one of their growing list of locally-made and finely distilled spirits. alk about a destination ... The Woodstock festival and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts are no longer Bethel, NY’s only claims to fame. Have you stopped by the Catskill Distilling Company and sampled their awardwinning spirits? (It was voted Best Distillery in NY by the Village Voice, People Choice 2014) How about the Dancing Cat Saloon right next door, where a great meal can be enjoyed indoors and out, with views of the rolling countryside and the live sounds of area bands? Have you wandered across Route 17B to the Stray Cat Gallery to view the photos, sculptures and paintings of some of the region’s most talented artists? Or literally gone to The Store Next Door to indulge in a bit of antiques shopping? All this is the handiwork of Stacy Cohen and Monte Sachs and their staff, led by Chief Business Development Officer Dr. Pietro Bortolotti. The local couple have melded Bethel’s rural agricultural roots with its near-50-year status as a musical Mecca, producing an entirely unique series of attractions that promise to tickle any fancy. “The bottom line is, we make a good product here,” says Monte, whose distilling prowess has produced Peace Vodka, Most Righteous Bourbon, Defiant Rye, Curious Gin, One & Only Buckwheat, among others. Their spirits are available at the distillery with a tour and a tasting at the restored 1939 World’s Fair Bar via the long gone Jeff Lake Inn and are also distributed throughout NY State and beyond. “We still have a process that is artisanal,” adds Pietro, a native of Italy who has brought his considerable skills (and a Ph.D. in economics) to bear on this complex. The Cat Stills Café is the newest addition to the Distillery, pairing light meals with signature drinks. But what they produce goes beyond spirits made of locally-sourced grains. The tasting room in the distillery, for example, has become one of the prime spots to catch up-and-coming musical talent in the region. “We want to be here for the local community which is unique 2nd home community and the visitors,” explains Stacy, who grew up in the Catskills.
