BIO While supplies last, we are offering this very special limited-edition vinyl-only double album, Music For A French Elevator And Other Oddities. Originally available as a part of the hugely acclaimed, super-deluxe A Dot In Time. box set, Music For A French Elevator compiles all of the Books’ non-album tracks into one fittingly surreal package befitting the group who essentially created their own genre (often reluctantly described as “collage-pop”).

A total of 45 tracks are here, including standouts and longtime favorites “Classy Penguin,” “8 Frame,” and their sublime Nick Drake cover “Cello Song Feat. Jose Gonzales.” Along with their commissioned pieces for the 1% art and sound installation in the Ministry of Culture in Paris, France, the collection includes the Books’ unreleased film score for the feature-length Biosphere 2 documentary, a stellar collection of counterpoint electroacoustic explorations that emanate the kind of wry charm and wit that became a staple of the Books’ music. Packaged in an impeccably designed die-cut jacket w/ metallic inks, this collection proves that even the Books’ non-album material is worthy of emphatic celebration and adoration. VINYL INCLUDES FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD COUPON LIMITED EDITION OF 2,000 COPIES

T H E C O AT H A N G E R S / A U D A C I T Y ADDERALL b/w EARTHBOT

The Coathangers are a relentless force. Not content to rest on their laurels with 2011’s sweaty summer classic Larceny & Old Lace, Atlanta’s roadwarrior daughters delivered a new split 7" every six months courtesy of Suicide Squeeze Records. Previous installments have paired their no-fucks-given badassery with Puerto Rican partiers Davila 666, Canadian bass-riff maestros Nü Sensae, and Nashville vintage-rockers Heavy Cream. The Coathangers’ final chapter in the series has them sharing a slab of vinyl with recent Suicide Squeeze signees Audacity. Hailing from Orange County, Audacity perfectly embody Southern California’s polarizing elements of sunshine and urban density. While not exactly “Good Vibrations” or “Welcome To The Jungle,” Audacity’s split-exclusive “Earthbot” shows both undeniable pop savvy and savage fretboard awareness. For their side, The Coathangers pay homage to driver’s-little-helper with “Adderall”. Showcasing the grittier side of their sound while still maintaining all of their token swagger, “Adderall” is a fitting cap on the split 7" series that carried through two years of relentless touring across North America and Europe. The Coathangers/Audacity split 7" is limited to 750 copies (250 on color vinyl, 500 on black) and is also available digitally worldwide on October 15, 2013.

DO MAKE SAY THINK Do Make Say Think 2x180gLP

STREET DATE: 15 OCTOBER 2013 • 1998 DEBUT ALBUM ISSUED ON VINYL FOR THE FIRST TIME • LP VERSION OF CATALOGUE ITEM CST005 (CD/DL) • DELUXE PACKAGE INCLUDES SCREENPRINTED JACKET WITH DIE-CUT WINDOW AND ART POSTER INSERT Do Make Say Think self-recorded its self-titled debut album in Toronto in 19961997 and self-released the record on CD. It made its way to Constellation’s stereo in spring 1998, just as the label was getting off the ground; we immediately fell in love with its blend of space rock, dub, jazz, psych and motorik influences, and with the fact that it was such a great-sounding and fully realised DIY recording. Constellation re-released the album in more extensive and elaborate bespoke CD packaging in early 1999 and Do Make Say Think became the label’s fifth release (and the first from a non-Montréal band). This terrific debut remained one of the very few titles on Constellation that was never issued on vinyl, as the label’s limited resources in the early years, along with DMST’s continuing output (they already had most of a sophomore record in the can when the debut got its CST release) conspired against a 2xLP pressing at the time. This historical aberration is now being remedied by a lovely deluxe double 180-gram edition of the album, with the CD’s unique window-cut artwork and packaging translated to glorious 12-inch dimensions. One of the first groups to define a newly genre-blending aesthetics and collective/collaborative ethics of (post-) rock experimentation in the Toronto scene, Do Make Say Think also presaged the city’s wider indie music reawakening in the early 2000s. The band has released a superb, dynamic and continually inventive series of instrumental rock albums since their auspicious debut (in one of numerous testaments to their quality and consistency, the group’s subsequent four albums received ratings of 7.9, 8.1, 8.1 and 7.8 by Pitchfork). DMST’s debut album brims with twilight atmosphere, a rich sonic tapestry that weaves a traditional rock configuration, dual drummers and analog synth through a mixing-desk sensibility informed by dub, electronic music, hip-hop and psychedelia. Song titles like “Highway 420”, “Dr. Hooch” and “Disco & Haze” nod to the preferred states of altered consciousness that presumably prevailed in the studio, but the results are far from shambolic, hazy or indulgent. The album’s longform instrumental excursions are marked by a focus on methodically deployed structures, transitions, flourishes and details that succeed in feeling natural, unlaboured, supplely rhythmic and enchantingly levitational. Do Make Say Think has remained defiantly independent, uncompromising and artistically focused within a Toronto scene that’s often tended towards hyperbolic fanfare and dubious careerism as the years wear on, continuing to be self-managed and self-produced throughout their long history. The band regrouped in late 2012 (following a 3-year hiatus) to play Constellation’s 15th Anniversary shows in Europe, where they absolutely killed. They have kept on with select festival performances and mini-tours in 2013. In celebration of the band's return to action – and to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Constellation's 1998 release of the debut CD – we couldn’t be prouder to present Do Make Say Think on vinyl for the first time.

HEAVENLY BEAT PROMINENCE - LP/CD

• Hometown: Austin, TX • Past North American sales: 1K • Touring in October 2013 • National college and specialty radio campaign via AAM • Album announced in August with first single “PROMINENCE” is the 2nd full length in as many years from Texas transplant John Pena. It was recorded/mixed in the same apartment(after a failed attempt to mix in a “real” studio) as last years TALENT over the first few months of 2013 after shelving a full length’s worth of songs for not being sonically or emotionally interesting enough. Using Primitive Radio God’s “Standing Outside A Broken Telephone Booth With Money In My Hand” as a sonic touch point John built a new album from the ground up utilizing chopped/sampled drum breaks and, for the first time, some non laptop based keyed instruments(piano, mellotron) along with H.B. main stays classical guitar and steel drums. Live member Christian Barsi and Daniel Schlett of Strange Weather Studio both contributed keys to a few songs but the outcome is still a very solo sounding project.

Arrangements is where PROMINENCE shines. Managing to sound inventive and not quite like anything else with such a limited palette is a rare and commendable feat. From the slide guitar and pulsing nylon string samples of “Honest” to the flamingo call and deep kick combo of the 2nd half of “Complete” Heavenly Beat keeps the whole affair sounding fresh, interesting and natural. Lyrically, PROMINENCE is not an escapist affair. It’s a very direct look into someone dealing with poor body image(Thin), infidelity(Honest) and emotional/physical/sexual recklessness(Prominence). It’s not asking or answering any questions. Just existing within itself, fully a where of it’s shortcomings.

While holed up in a house in upstate NY, The Men took full advantage of their rural surroundings, in-house studio, and lack of recording timelines and obligations. They tracked over twenty-five songs. On top of that they also managed to record five songs acoustically, while sitting around a campfire outside the house. Vinyl version comes with a 12-page photo book 11.5" × 11.5" insert featuring never before seen black & white photographs shot by their bassist/photographer Kevin Faulkner during the Big Indian sessions. Campfire Songs is the band’s second release this year, and their fifth in the past four years. To say this band is prolific is an understatement; they are teeming, borderline prodigal even. Two of these acoustic jams are alternate takes from the album, “I Saw Her Face” and “The Seeds”. The plugged-in version of “Water Babies” appeared on the b-side of their 7" from January, “Patience” and “Turn Your Color” are two entirely new beautiful tracks that highlight this band’s ability to be as gentle as they are commanding. Wymond Miles Cut Yourself Free 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

track listing: The Ascension Passion Plays Night Drives White Nights Bronze Patina Vacant Eyes Anniversary Song Why Are You Afraid? Love Will Rise

Key Information / Selling Points: Hometown / Key Markets: • San Francisco/ LA, Seattle, Portland

On the heels of last years critically acclaimed debut LP Under the Pale Moon, and Earth Has Doors EP comes the sophomore full length from Wymond Miles, guitarist of San Francisco garage-pop titans The Fresh & Onlys. Cut Yourself Free assembles another convergence of moon-lit romantic swagger and post-punk massacred urgency. Again self recorded and produced to tape, Miles’ song-craft has emerged more refined and poignant, benefitting from the avalanche of his frenzied live shows, but also adhering to a more minimalistic fashion with crooning mid-era Nick Cave or Bowie/Roxy Music strains of pop-modernism. But what stands at the forefront is Miles’ command of his textural guitar and vintage-synth sprawl that on his choosing can open dream-like vistas, or pierce with an engine’s snarl. Turning to the narrative, Miles weaves each song with its own vignette of story line, often with a vaguely obscured protagonist/antagonist dialog. Relationships in Miles’ sketches are always tangled, if not licentious affairs, but are presented more as lustrous gateways to mend and revitalize rather than squalor in. Press Coverage: Previous coverage on Spin.com, Pitchfork, eMusic, The Onion Press Quotes: “Sounding at times like Robert Smith fronting the Bad Seeds…it’s Miles’s hooks, expert six-string playing and tactful placement of sounds that make the album a luminous whole.” — eMusic “Miles is excellent at conveying a feeling in his compositions… He croons every song with a delicate, throaty warble that’s flawed, yet effective in its ability to tap into a specific song’s mood.” — Pitchfork “…a tumbling journey through Miles’ mind that emulates that satisfying feeling of flicking from radio station to station and hearing nothing but jams, while still wondering what will come next.” — Prefix Mag

NEO BOYS SOONER OR LATER In 1978, the city of Portland, OR erupted with a radical form of artistic expression some refer to as “punk” or “new wave.” Restless teenage crowds were gathering in quiet alleys and meeting halls, anxious to shake off their cultural ties, and at the heart of this legendary movement was the powerful all-girl punk group the Neo Boys. Though an active band for just five years (1978-82), teenage sisters Kt (bass) and Kim Kincaid (vocals), together with Pat Baum (drums) and guitarists Jennifer Labianco and Megan Hengtes forged a place for women in the growing punk rock scene, and redefined gender roles in the 80’s movement of rock and roll.

With their bleached hair, melodic bass lines, surfy guitar strums and straight-forward poetic lyrics, they were a stand-out in the rising new wave/punk scene. Neo Boys regularly shared bills with Greg Sage and The Wipers, opened for Nico, played their first show with Television and participated in founding Portland's first all-ages collective DIY performance space, Clockwork Joes. Yet somehow this incredible legacy was nearly lost in the annals of history. Calvin Johnson, a Neo Boys fan since hearing their first single thirty years ago, worked with the band members to track down the missing tapes of their recordings through a rabbit hole of Northwest basements and closets. The result is Sooner or Later (KLP247), a comprehensive double LP collection of Neo Boys recordings from 1977-1982. Included are their long out-of-print 1980 7” EP (released on Greg Sage's Trap Records), and the 1982 self-released EP Crumbling Myths. Sooner or Later also contains studio recordings, early demos and live sessions that have never before been available to the public. Sooner or Later is divided between the Neo Boys’ early, raw punk era and their more accomplished ‘80s era during which they recorded Crumbling Myths (which was originally meant to be an album but was cut down to a seven song EP at the last moment). “Time Keeps Time,” a bouncy bass-heavy track, made popular again by Grass Widow's cover on their Milo Minute 7”, demonstrates the Neo Boys timeless appeal. And Kim Kincaid's soft, not-too-sweet vocals in “Nothing To Fear,” which makes two appearances on the collection, speaks to the power of the band's ideals, and the importance of pursuing your artistic vision, even in the face of adversity. The Neo Boys were an outspoken feminist fixture in the development of the NW underground music scene, and this legacy is cemented with the release of their complete recordings, Sooner or Later. “Neo Boys have been an influence not only on my approach to melody, but also to a world of imagination where anything is possible. Their music is just as pertinent and relatable today as it was 30 years ago, and with existential songs about alienation, societal problems and love, they created a world I have taken refuge in during times when I felt the effects of narrow attitudes about gender and women's voices in music.” - Hannah Lew, Grass Widow Selling Points: - Hannah Lew from Grass Widow listed Crumbling Myths as one of five records she can't live without in Chickfactor, 2012. - Greg Sage from The Wipers recorded & released Crumbling Myths. - Sooner or Later brings back into print all Neo Boys releases that have long been unavailable to all but scouring collectors, and also releases material that never saw the light of day. SANDRO PERRI Spaced Out

12” / DL (remixes)

STREET DATE: 15 OCTOBER 2013 • THE FINAL SET OF REMIXES FROM PERRI’S CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED IMPOSSIBLE SPACES ALBUM, FOLLOWING PREVIOUS EPs ON DFA AND PHONICA • FEATURING REMIXES BY LARRY GUS (DFA, LEFSE), LE RÉVÉLATEUR (ROOT STRATA) AND IMUGEM ORIHASAM (FRAGIL)

CST101 While Sandro Perri’s acclaimed and meticulously constructed album Impossible Spaces was a decidedly avant-rock affair conjured from guitar, bass, drums, synth and voice (with flourishes of woodwinds and brass), longtime fans of Perri will also be familiar with his deep roots in electronic music, chiefly via his Polmo Polpo project from the early 2000s. So it was natural for him to tap friends and peers for remixes of the Impossible Spaces material. This yielded an embarrassment of remix riches spread across a series of three EPs, of which Spaced Out is the third and final installment (following 2012 releases on the DFA and Phonica labels). Spaced Out kicks off with what is probably the closest thing to a banger in the entire batch of remix material, courtesy of Larry Gus (DFA, Lefse), whose treatment of “Love & Light” employs over 500 samples extracted from the song's stems. The result is an intricate, dense, exuberantly satisfying groove-based track that chops and channels the woozy rhythmic complexity and mellifluous vocal of the original. This is followed by the pulsing ambient maximalism of Le Révélateur (Root Strata), the current alter-ego of Roger Tellier-Craig (Fly Pan Am, Pas Chic Chic), who reworks “Wolfman” as a beautifully building swarm of layered loops and long delays – an homage of sorts to Perri’s own Polmo Polpo sound palette. The EP’s B-Side features an extended, non-linear re-interpretation of “How Will I?” by Japanese producer Imugem Orihasam (Fragil) that extrapolates a sweet and loose abstract-House vibe from the original, bringing the highly detailed swing of the song’s live drum tracks to the fore, allowing Perri’s vocal to unfurl against a minimal, skittering, plunderphonic arrangement. We’re thrilled to wrap up these Impossible Spaces remixes in a final installment; Spaced Out provides an intense, diverse and richly detailed 22-minute journey that wildly re-imagines the original album across three distinct pieces, each of which remains true to Perri’s core aesthetics in uniquely additive fashion.

He sang and drank and played and drank and ate and shoveled snow and when the snow melted and the roads cleared he had his friends. Eliot Kirmsky (Glass Ghost) and Mike Johnson (Dirty Projectors) dug into Luke’s hut and together they built a fire. Luke called it Good Mood Fool. Originally from Cape Anne, Massachusetts, Luke moved to the North West, sleeping rough in the woods, working in a candy store and as a janitor at a suburban mall. While in Seattle Luke met some people headed down the coast. All of his aimlessness lasted a year and half before Luke had had enough. He enrolled in school of the Museum of Fine Arts and spent five years painting portraits, after which Luke moved to New York and worked as a muralist and plasterer. As painting drifted from the foreground little songs started to emerge. He tried them out at the famous Sidewalk Café Monday open mic and the people there liked it. After recording two critically acclaimed albums for Mill Pond, to little commercial reception, Luke was at the point of quitting a career in music. In 2008, feeling free in his new state, he made what would become the first Here We Go Magic album, forming the band and releasing the self-titled debut in 2009. Positive critical and commercial response to the record kept Luke busy with Here We Go Magic through touring and recording two more full lengths and an EP. Since Here We Go Magic’s 2012 release, A Different Ship, Luke has returned to his original solo ideas. In a sense Good Mood Fool is an extension of the first self-titled Here We Go Magic record. It was recorded with the same sense of freedom and joy. The meat of the record finds Luke taking a sharp turn in order to keep himself interested. First single "Katie" is a prime slice of mid-80s intelligent pop, almost So-era Peter Gabriel in its rhythms and sound. Meanwhile, "Florida" is a blue-eyed soul hit, a lazy sunny evening of summer beauty. Good Mood Fool draws from myriad influences, from the hushed soulful wail of Curtis Mayfield to the dense harmonies of Gill Evans and the Bulgarian Women’s Choir. It is meant to be clear in production and in content, hiding nothing.
