A bit of Fry & The Chronicles One of the biggest guys in television, Stephen Fry is a man to be credited and admired. His versatility has led to his name being one of the biggest in show business. From acting to play writes Mr Fry does it all and he does it well. The winner of 8 awards and nominated for 13 others this man is one of the best in his field leaving his footprints wherever he goes. Words by Roberta Pidgeon

B

orn on 24 August 1957 in Hampstead, London Stephen Fry is one of the most multi-talented celebrities we know today. Being an actor, screenwriter, comedian, television presenter not mention more cannot be easy but Stephen Fry does this with class. Although Stephen Fry had a troubled childhood, in which he was expelled from a number of schools and ended up spending three months in prison for credit card fraud this definitely did not jeopardise his success by any means as he was able to secure a place at Queens College, Cambridge where he studied English literature. There is no doubt that Stephen Fry is a very intelligent man as when he was at university he joined Cambridge footlights dramatic club and was even on University challenge. It was at the footlights where Stephen fry was introduced to Hugh Laurie where the two of them became a comedy double act `Fry and Laurie`. This is where Fry’s television career began after catching the attention of Granada Television where he was asked to star in `There’s Nothing to Worry About`. This is when his career took off, he was now in the public eye, it was clear at this point what a success Fry`s career was going to be. A second series then established Fry and Laurie as a comedy double act. As Fry`s reputation was building the BBC decided to

18  SCENE

offer him his own show, however disappointingly it was cancelled after the first episode. However Fry had clearly made an impression as the BBC commissioned a sketch show in 1986 that was to become `A Bit of Fry & Laurie` this became very successful. As well as his television shows Stephen fry was also featured in a few films at the time such as the `The Good Father` in 1985. One if his biggest acting role however, not just for his reputation but also for him individually was his role as Oscar Wilde in `Wilde`. Fry had been a great fan of Oscar Wilde since he was 13 so this role was a part he felt he was `born to play`. It was probably the most important role of his career as it earned him a nomination for Best Actor in the 1998 Golden Globe Award. After this Stephen Fry had defiantly made his mark on the television and film industry and it was clear he could only get better. Besides his television successes he is also responsible for the writing of a number of theatre scripts. Fry wrote the play `Latin! Or Tobacco and Boys` for the 1980 Edinburgh Festival where it won the Fringe first prize. In 1984 fry adapted the extremely successful 1930s musical `Me and My Girl` for the west end. His career in theatre was undoubtedly successful, he had only one knock back during his time in theatre and that was when he was cast a lead role in Simon Gray`s 1995 play `Cell Mates` to which Stephen Fry left three days into

SCENE  19

the West End run as he had stage fright. Although this may have appeared to be a throw back in his theatrical career, it undoubtedly wasn’t as in 2007 Stephen fry wrote a Christmas pantomime in 2007, `Cinderella` which ran at London`s old Vic theatre. Stephen Fry’s television and film career has been consistent throughout his life and in 2003 Fry made his directorial debut with `Bright young things` which was adapted by himself from Evelyn Waugh`s `Vile Bodies`. By this point it was more than evident that Fry had made a big impact in the television and film industries and in 2001 he began hosting the BAFTA Film awards which he did for 5 years before stepping down in 2006. Fry continues to make regular film appearances. In the 2005 film version of `The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy` he played the narrator. In 2006, he played the role of a gadget-master in `Stormbreaker`, and in 2007 he appeared as himself hosting a quiz in St Trinian’s. Fry also starred in the Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland, as the voice of the Cheshire Cat. He played Mycroft Holmes in the sequel to Sherlock

Holmes directed by Guy Ritchie. His acclamation for his earlier work has definitely shown with his number of various works in more recent times. Fry`s career has been such a success due to him being a very intelligent man and quite a character. Fry came out as gay in 1995. When asked about his reasons for his sexuality, Fry said “I suppose it all began when I came out of the womb. I looked back up at my mother and thought to myself, ‘that’s the last time I’m going up one of those`` Fry was in a 14-year relationship with Daniel Cohen, which ended in 2010. Fry has stated that he is 90% homosexual, but has been attracted to women on occasion. Fry is also an atheist and has also declared himself a humanist; however he has accepted that religion can have positive effects. Fry has unquestionably been one of the best television and film stars of his time, not to mention his works in theatre or his biographies. He is a credit to the world of the media who should be widely acknowledged for his achievements.

Be vain in the Summer For most summer indicates a time for dresses, shorts and a time to show off our legs, for others it can mean days of sweltering through leggings boots and tights. The reason… Thread veins

Those purple or red wiggly lines, also known as thread veins, are often deemed the curse of the lower leg. Over exposure to the sun, heavy alcohol consumption or standing for long periods can all exacerbate this unsightly condition. Though medically they’re harmless, these unsightly purplish webs can cause anxiety in even the most confident of women. With 1 in 3 women suffering from thread veins, and with often no help available from the GP, it might seem like a third of us are destined to a lifetime of tights and cover up tan. But not if PURE Medi-Spa have anything to do with it! PURE Medi-Spa have a range of new treatments which can deal with these unsightly veins in a matter of minutes. By either using a fine needle to burn them, a laser to break them down or the new technique of using a tiny injection to give a solution which blocks the vein causing it to shrivel and fade naturally, you can bid farewell to leg revealing anxiety forever. Usually requiring a course of 2-4 treatments, the results are impressive and more often than not will allow women to regain both their confidence and feel able to wear clothes they have avoided for years. The key however is to have the treatment done during the winter months when there is ample time to allow things to heal so that next summer you are ready to bare those vein free legs. Though most commonly found on the legs, thread veins can also appear on the face also known as spider veins with devastating effects on the self confidence of men and women Luckily the above treatments are just as effective for broken veins on the face as on the limbs. All procedures are carried out by Dr Siddiqi and her team and start with a free consultation to determine the method suitable for you.

THE COMPREHENSIVE DENTAL ASSESSMENT This month, I will be exploring the benefits of a thorough initial dental assessment. Q: Why do British people seem to have so many dental problems? A: About 50% of people do not go to a dentist regularly. Some people may have had a bad

experience as a child, which puts them off having dental treatment. Education and lack of dental knowledge is also another important reason – it is the dentist’s responsibility to advise properly regarding how to prevent dental problems (e.g. visit http://www.smiledesignbyash.co.uk/generaldentistry/top-tips-to-avoid-long-term-problems to find out great ways to have a healthy mouth and avoid dental treatment). Through neglect, teeth and gums get worse. The longer this is left, the more complex and expensive the treatment will be. Q: Why is the Comprehensive Dental Assessment done by you so unique? A: If someone is considering cosmetic dentistry, has missing or worn down & damaged teeth, then a detailed dental assessment is required. Our signature 2-hour dental evaluation includes: • Digital Photographs – Photos of your face, smile and teeth for planning the treatment • Digital X-Rays - Assessment of the teeth and surrounding bone health • Study Models - Replica moulds for assessment of the teeth and bite

• Smile Analysis - A detailed and unique survey of the smile • Oral Cancer Screen - Review of the soft tissues • Assessment of the teeth and dental restorations – A complete review of every tooth including the integrity and status of all fillings • Gum Health - Thorough analysis of the gum health • Professional, personalized report – A detailed report with all your treatment options carefully explained, with all relevant estimates Q: What is the benefit of having this thorough assessment? A: The main benefit is that the patient can feel very confident that nothing has been missed. An accurate diagnosis of the dental condition can be reached and therefore correct treatment recommendations are offered. By doing things properly and having a totally preventative approach to ensure optimum health will mean long lasting restorations and avoiding repeat dentistry, saving a lot of money and problems in the long run. Special offer for SCENE Magazine readers For September 2012, I would like to offer Scene magazine readers the Comprehensive Dental Assessment a special saving of £100 i.e. the fee will be £195 rather than the normal fee of £295. You are also welcome to visit our Practice for a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION to meet us. Please phone Petya, our Patient Coordinator on 020 85000544, or visit our website www.smiledesignbyash.co.uk. Soak In Peace

Neutral shades help you relax in your bathroom

They say the bedroom is the heart of the home, however nowadays most bedrooms have an en-suit bathroom attached making them now more than ever a very important feature of any household. Words by Roberta Pidgeon

T

he current fashion for bathrooms are neutral shades with a natural theme, shades such as oyster and cappuccino look great in any bathroom whilst having a contemporary and fresh feel. Attention to detail is a must with soap dispensers and towel shades having a large impact on the overall trendiness of a bathroom. We have put together a collection of the best bathroom products of the moment that are sure to make your bathroom look as amazing as it can be. A bathroom needs to be a place where the body can unwind and relax after a hard day at work or just for general relaxation, therefore bright, outrageous tones are far from ideal. This is why the natural tones and neutral colour schemes work so well. This colour scheme is famously used in spas due to the therapeutic tones relaxing the mind and soul allowing the body to unwind, so why would you not want this in your own bathroom? Besides that this colour scheme will never go out of fashion due to it being the classic and most elegant shade for bathrooms. Most bathroom products on the high street are of a neutral shade so are easy to find, also meaning they are easy to coordinate with other bathroom accessories. It is essential to have the appropriate accessories for your bathroom, paying special attention to detail. Accessories such as soap dishes, soap dispensers and tooth brush holders look their best when they are coordinated with the same colour scheme. These items placed around the sink add a personal touch to your bathroom while in keeping with the spa like theme. Accessories such as shells and weathered wood compliment neutral tones well and bring nature to your bathroom keeping it fresh and relaxing. This with the use of candles placed on the edge of the bath or again

With a drawer for the fiddly accessories that every bathroom accumulates and a cupboard for cleaning products, toilet rolls or bath linen, the 2 shelves above provide space for toiletries or a beautiful display of candles. £350 available from John Lewis

by the sink is also appropriate to the natural theme. Towels are very underrated when it comes to decorating and furnishing your bathroom. It is important to have soft towels and of course plenty of spares for when you have guests staying. The colour of your towels should up keep the neutral theme but are allowed to be the darkest item in the room to have a range of shades as opposed to a completely oyster coloured bathroom. Towels are an item which can determine the overall image of the bathroom. For example the nature themed bathroom could not possibly word with bright pink towels but would also look too pasty with crème towels therefore opting for a cappuccino coloured towel are best to accessorise your bathroom. The furnishings of the bathroom are also very important as they complement or are complimented by the accessories. Items such as cabinets and shelves must be spacious enough to have plenty of room for your bathroom accessories and toiletries but not too big that they end up dominating the bathroom. The bath should be the focal point of your bathroom. Round bath tubs are very fashionable in the bathroom world and are incredibly chic while also being incredibly relaxing due to the shape being able to give to maximum bathing area, they are a must have for any modern bathroom. The sink of course should complement the bath tub, looking best when they are of a similar shape. An oval shaped bath and sink suit Montpellier Double Mirrored Bathroom Cabinet With its beautifully scalloped frame and vintage-inspired finish, this mirrored cabinet brings continental chic to your bathroom. £190 available from John Lewis Abode Passion 2 Piece Wall Mounted Basin Filler A tapered base plinth and solid cylindrical body create a clean and elegant low pressure tap suited to a variety of bathroom settings. This stylish mixer boasts metal construction and is custom designed for lower range pressures. £205 available from John Lewis Cappuccino Egyptian Towels Egyptian cotton is renowned around the world for its softness, strength and absorbency. Pleasantly weighty and naturally plush, these are our most popular towels, and you can really feel their quality. £62.00 for full set available from John Lewis

a neutral coloured, natural themed bathroom perfectly as the oval shape resembles beech pebbles which entwines perfectly with shells and weathered wood which together work perfectly with the theme of nature and a neutral colour scheme. There are so many simple ways to make your bathroom look the best it can be so there is no excuse for a basic and boring bathroom. Accessories are a must as without them your bathroom looks empty and unlived in. Towels finish the décor of the room, remembering that the towels should be a few shades darker than the rest of the bathroom to avoid too many fair colours. It is your bathroom in your house so should have just as much time put in to the decorating of it as any other room and should not be forgotten. SCENE  37

AROUND THE HOUSES We bring you this month’s latest property market news and views in Essex

Property SCENE

A

with Hayley Hunt

t this stage of the year the new football season remains full of promise as the bi-annual merrygo-round of player transfers settles down, with its impact still causing ripples at the top end of the property market. As always, my own company has played its part in helping these buyers find new homes locally. Even with the re-location of the Spurs training ground to Enfield there remains a core of players and coaching staff who value the local way of life. Add to that the West Ham and Leyton Orient contingents and it’s easy to see why Chigwell, Epping, Abridge and surrounding areas are still ‘des-res’ with this group. This helps explain that despite the doom and gloom peddled by some national newspapers, West Essex still bucks the national trend. So don’t believe everything you read; if you’re considering selling make sure you call in an estate agent who knows the market, who has a track record of achieving best value for their clients and who has a ready-made database of potential purchasers looking for your kind of home. Finally, an unashamed plug for an event that is dear to my heart and in which I have had the great pleasure of being closely involved. Sunday, September 9th is Repton Park’s family fun day and follows the annual black tie ball on the evening before at the Prince Regent Hotel. The weekend marks the 10th anniversary of this beautiful community (which I am happy to call home and where I still do most of my business) and promises to be huge fun for the whole family. There’s a host of fairground attractions on the Repton Park green, with face painting, bouncy castles, inflatable slide, fancy dress, celebrity football, arts and crafts stalls, refreshments and much more besides. The TOWIE stars will be represented, with special appearances from Gemma Collins and Joey Essex, as well as Radio One D.J. Tommy Sandhu. And the best news of all? All proceeds from the £15 family ticket will go to Haven House Children’s Hospice. What could be better! Contact me (see below) for tickets for either event.

Houses close to Premier League football grounds have risen in value far quicker than average UK house prices over the last decade, as the billions of pounds invested in clubs has a regenerative effect on local communities. According to Halifax, average property prices in the postal districts of the 20 Premier League football clubs have increased by 137 per cent over the last decade, from £152,891 in 2002 to £362,866 in 2012. By contrast, average house prices across England and Wales have risen by 90 per cent over the same period, from £121,129 to £229,735. Further, house prices in the Premier League postal districts have risen by an average of 1.3 per cent over the last year compared to an average fall of 2.7 per cent across England and Wales, Halifax said. As the new football season gets underway, the building society said that the regeneration of many stadiums has had a knock-on effect on nearby homes. In recent years billions of pounds have been invested in British football clubs, mainly by wealthy foreign owners. Much of this money has been spent on improving facilities and transport infrastructure close to the grounds as well as on the stadiums themselves.

Bienvenido a España! Envisage your daily commute into the city. The late trains, rush hour squash and dreary English weather. Now swap that with stress free flights to and from a luxurious resort nestled in the mountains of southern Spain, where the sun shines all year round.

T

oday’s technology makes it easier than ever to work in London and live abroad, and Sotogrande, the largest resort in Andalusia offers just this; a sunny family home abroad in a fantastic location.

and innovative water features complementing the indoor pool. There is also an outdoor pool ideal for soaking up the Spanish rays. For when the adults are being pampered or on the courses, there are children’s activities available.

Great value flights from Malaga to London from Monarch airline means people are now commuting across Europe in the same time it takes to journey across the country.

With impeccable service and beautiful food, the hotel attracts guests who are looking for luxury, and an England footballer was seen dining at one of the hotels two world class restaurants with his family during our visit. Alongside the hotel are ‘La Cimas’ properties, which aptly translates to ‘those at the top’. These villas have full access to all the hotel’s facilities, including the laundry, concierge and state of the art fitness centre. With white, modern architecture, the villas come complete with pretty courtyards and large windows inviting in the natural light.

Being an hour away from the airport and a mere fifteen minute drive to the commuter city of Gibraltar makes Sotogrande the ultimate retreat for those with a hectic work life. Sotogrande’s 5* NH Almenara hotel provides a perfect insight to the lifestyle on offer here. Perched at the top of the hills rolling down to the Mediterranean Sea, it is surrounded by oak trees and tranquil lakes, producing incredible views. This natural beauty has been continued inside the hotel, with pine furniture and marble bathrooms furnishing the 148 rooms. The hotel and resort is famous for being a golfer’s haven, with some of the top courses in Europe. Three 9 hole courses of different difficulties are placed in the heart of a lush greenery and were designed by a Ryder Cup champion. A top golf academy in the resort also makes it ideal for beginners.

Well-structured roads edged with vibrant flowers seamlessly guide you around the huge resort where properties of many shapes and sizes cater for all tastes and purses. Ultimate privacy and serenity is the selling point for the properties, and the immaculate lawns, flanking palm trees and stunning mountain outlooks are more than slightly reminiscent of LA’s Beverly Hill’s. Also available are different sized plots of land on which you can build your home, garden and pool to your own penchant, which will appeal to those with particular tastes!

The hotel’s ‘Elysium’ spa adds to the peaceful atmosphere, with candles lighting the treatment rooms

large without losing a sense of community. Sotogrande’s international school caters for around 800 children from over 30 nationalities and pupils have continued on to top universities in America, Madrid and the UK, including Oxbridge. Sotogrande has the best of both worlds, being a quiet resort but having the amenities for many social occasions, especially for sport lovers. As well as the golf, polo is a huge attraction and the annual tournaments are at the heart of the resorts social schedule. The like of Fergie and other royalty are frequently in attendance at the international standard fields, where the Spanish National Polo Team is based. Tennis, walking, cycling and climbing also make the lifestyle here ideal for the active. Whilst you may be hesitant to buy property in Spain due to the economic crisis, now is in fact the best time to buy, thanks to the appreciation of the pound against the euro. This means that prices are up to 50% cheaper than a few years ago, and the market is only moving upwards. The prices for the ‘Las Cimas’ villas start at around £533,000, a huge bargain from the original price of £1,933,938. Similarly, the prices of apartments in ‘Ribera del Marlin’ at the heart of the marina have also dropped by around 30%, now starting from £306,500. An added bonus is a half price berth with each marina apartment bought. Sat right on the water’s edge, these marina flats offer 44  SCENE

panoramic views overlooking the harbour. There is a mixture of charmingly quaint buildings in Mediterranean shades of terracotta and blue and some more modern complexes. The two, three or four beds are spacious and filled with all the mod-cons. Large terraces are perfect for dining alfresco and the complexes also include indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna and gymnasium. Being so close to the water you can practically park your boat outside your flat makes this the perfect holiday home spot. A glorious sandy beach right on the doorstep and the sea breeze makes sailing, water sports and fishing immensely popular. On the other side of the resort is another beach, where the Cucurucho Beach Club is an ideal place to socialize and soak up the sun. Overlooking the clear blue sea, with four swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, it supplies exquisite examples of Spanish food, with delicious tapas style dishes, sumptuous prawns, seafood and delicate fish amongst many others. With plans for more exclusive shops, top restaurants and boutiques in the pipeline, Sotogrande is set to be the resort that has it all, already having the weather, views, food, location and lifestyle. What essentially stands out about Sotogrande is that whilst it can be described as nothing less than luxurious, it is neither flashy nor pretentious, which sets it miles apart from similar resorts in Europe and makes it the ideal place to make your home.

Environmental Hero Porsche’s new hybrid super car The future is taking shape: with more than half of its development time completed, the Porsche 918 Spyder is firmly on course to become the super sports car of tomorrow. As a plug-in hybrid vehicle, it combines a high-performance combustion engine with cutting-edge electric motors to deliver performance that is beyond extraordinary: the best of both worlds endows the 918 with the dynamics of a racing car packing more than 770 hp of power accompanied by fuel consumption, which at approximately three liters per 100 kilometres, is less than that of most modern compact cars. Moreover, Porsche is breaking more new ground with the technology demonstrator with spectacular solutions such as the full carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) body, fully adaptive aerodynamics, adaptive rear-axle steering and the upward-venting “top pipes” exhaust system. In the process, the 918 Spyder is offering a glimpse of what Porsche Intelligent Performance may be capable of in the future. The 918 Spyder has been designed as a super sports car and the legitimate successor to the Carrera GT. As such, the first goal was obvious: improving yet again on the Carrera GT’s performance. As far as is currently known, the 918 Spyder will be significantly faster – both in terms of acceleration and also performance on the racing circuit: less than three seconds from zero to 100 km/h (Carrera GT: 3.9 seconds) and less than 7:22 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife (Carrera GT: 7:32 minutes) is an unmistakable statement. However,

the uniqueness of the 918 Spyder is best represented by the union of outstanding performance with a level of efficiency never seen before in the super sports car sector. Fuel consumption of approximately three liters per 100 kilometres and an electric range in excess of 25 kilometres are unprecedented. Quiet and elegant: “E-Power” When the vehicle is started up, the “E-Power” is the default operating mode as long as the battery is sufficiently charged. In ideal conditions, the 918 Spyder can cover more than 25 kilometres on purely electric power. In this mode, the combustion engine is only used when needed: maximum engine power is available at a moment’s notice by means of the kickdown function. If the charge state of the battery falls below a set minimum value, the vehicle automatically switches to hybrid mode. SCENE  47

Efficient and comfortable: “hybrid” In “hybrid” mode, the electric motors and combustion engine work together with the focus on maximum efficiency and minimum fuel consumption. The use of the individual drive components adapts depending on the current driving situation and the desired performance. The hybrid mode is typically used for moderate, consumptionoriented driving styles, e.g. in city traffic. Sporty and dynamic: “Sport Hybrid” In more dynamic situations, the 918 Spyder selects the “Sport Hybrid” mode for its motors. The combustion engine is now in constant operation and provides the main propulsive force. In addition, the electric motors provide support in the form of an electric boost when the driver demands higher output, or if there is scope to optimize the operating point of the combustion engine for greater efficiency. The focus of this mode is on performance and a sporty driving style. For fast laps: “Race Hybrid” “Race Hybrid” is the mode for the highest possible performance and especially sporty driving style. The combustion engine is chiefly used under high load, and charges the battery when the driver is not utilising the maximum output. The electric motors provide additional support as necessary in the form of a boost when the driver requires even more power. The electric 48  SCENE

motors are used up to the maximum power output limit in order to provide the best possible performance for the race track. In this mode, the battery charge state is not kept constant, but instead fluctuates across the entire charge range. In contrast to Sport Hybrid mode, the electric motors run at their maximum power output limits for a short time, thus ensuring better boosting. This increased output is balanced out by the combustion engine charging the battery more powerfully. For pole position: “Hot Lap” The “Hot Lap” button in the middle of the map switch releases the 918 Spyder’s last reserves and can only be activated in “Race Hybrid” mode. Similar to a qualification mode, this pushes the traction battery to its maximum power output limits for a few fast laps. This mode uses all of the available energy in the battery. The 918 Spyder continues the super sports car line in Porsche history; as technology demonstrators, the driving force behind emotion and evolution alike and the ultimate sports cars of their decade: the Carrera GTS, the first Porsche Turbo, the 959, the 911 GT1, the Carrera GT. More than any of its predecessors, the 918 Spyder is providing a critical impetus to developing the technologies for future vehicle concepts.

My Scene Peter Southgate This month, SCENE catches up with Peter Southgate, owner of The Vault in Woodford Green

What’s your role at The Vault? I’m the owner and founder of The Vault. While you won’t see me behind the bar, I do work with the Vault team to ensure my vision is delivered through regular meetings and make sure I engage with the Vault customers as often as I can to ensure everyone enjoys their visit.

How did you get involved in the business? I opened the Vault two years ago, but the idea was born long before as I have always enjoyed fine wines and food. Living and operating other businesses locally, I struggled to find enough of the right venues to indulge my passion. It was then I decided to open my own establishment and The Vault Champagne and Wine Bar was born.

What’s the inspiration for the bar & restaurant? My inspiration was realising a personal dream, firstly to open a Wine bar and Restaurant and secondly to open a business that was different from anything locally available. I didn’t want a young, noisy bar; I wanted a mature, sophisticated venue selling top quality wines, not readily available on the open market accompanied by great food. I wanted this to be a place where people would feel relaxed, safe and comfortable, at the same time feeling spoilt by its affordable sophistication.

I’ve heard there are regular wine tasting evenings, tell me more about those? We have held a number of successful wine tasting events and have also held wine quiz nights, and our most popular being “One of us is lying” this was a call my bluff style evening where three wine experts described wines. The idea was to guess which ones were lying. We also hold a number of Champagne tasting events, including our Christmas morning Champagne brunch. You’ve recently launched Tea @ The Vault, how did that come about? How did Tea@ come about, well that was easy really, my other love in life is fine Tea. You will see my personal

collection of Tea pots on show. I also wanted to open up our shop window on the Broadway for customers, who just did not realize The Vault was there. The Tea shop does not directly compete with other local businesses, but offers a point of difference and a fine accompaniment to the Vault’s existing menu and values. The Teas we serve cannot be purchased anywhere else and have been made to our specification. These include my particular favourites, Amaretto, Strawberries and Cream, our Haven House Charity tea, and of course our non-alcoholic Champagne Tea. In addition we serve all the traditional favourites such as English breakfast and Earl Grey. You won’t find a tea bag on the premises though, sorry! Our cakes are all home made locally and our food is all prepared fresh in our kitchens. With a menu that extends beyond the average Tea room including hot daily specials and full English breakfasts. Tea @ The Vault joins directly to the Vault, therefore giving our customers an opportunity to use both venues, should they wish. Tea @ The Vault has also allowed us to be much more child friendly with a family area and garden. We’re open seven days a week, offering real choice. What do you do when you’re not busy working? Well that doesn’t often happen. I run a very successful telecommunication business, which takes up most of my time! When I do relax, I enjoy regular workouts at the gym, not least of all, I must not forget the time I always put aside for my wife of 28 years, my two sons and daughter. Is there anything coming up in the future we should know about? (i.e. Christmas events etc…) The end of summer is fast approaching so we have many bookings for parties and celebration events, ranging from Christenings, Engagements, Birthdays and various others. With our latest offering being Mad Hatter’s Children’s’ Tea Parties. As we enter the next season I would also like to focus on our something different for Christmas and New Year with our Tapas style Grill Menu featuring alongside our Lava Stone offer. Last of all August saw our two year opening, so look out for further details of our lively September Party and celebrations.
