From the little harbor of Katakolon, it’s only a short drive through the bucolic land of Elis to the site of Olympia. Following your Greek guide into the site, where the ancient athletes competed to honor their gods, discover the great monuments one by one, including the archaic Temple of Hera and the huge Temple of Zeus which once housed one of the Seven Wonders of the World—the Golden Ivory Zeus! You’ll also see the unique Stadium and Bouleuterion where the competitors swore on oath to play fair. Nearby were Phedias’ Workshop, the Palaistra, and the Gymnasium, the site is beautifully shaded by the Judas and olive trees. Above all stands the perfectly shaped, conical Hill of Kronos. Departing from the port, we head towards the Acheron River Estuary for bird watching. Upon arrival, there will be a short, guided tour of the center’s exhibition and view a documentary about this protected area and Kalama. We’ll then walk to close by the center for birdwatching with binoculars and telescopes. We’ll next head to the Paragaea Old Olive Oil Factory. There we shall hear more about the olive oil production as well as the history of Parga’s first mechanical olive oil factory. A short movie will show the modern ways of olive oil production and its entire process, from the olive groves to the bottle. Following this, we’ll enjoy a tasting of the olive oil products, and there will also be an opportunity to buy some of the products.

Depart from the quayside on foot and walk to the medieval town of Rhodes, where you’ll proceed to the Palace of the Grand Masters. The massive palace rises above all, taking the mind straight to the central point of interest in this city—the Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. They fortified the island in the 14th century as a stronghold. The Palace of the Grand Masters was constructed in the 1500s around a central court. Destroyed by an explosion in 1856, it was rebuilt in 1930 to its original grandeur. Take a leisurely stroll along the Knights’ Street, a medieval cobbled street lined with the ‘inns’, 15th- and 16th-century Gothic buildings where the Knights lived, divided according to their nationalities of Christendom. From the pier, follow the coast to Torremolinos, Benalmádena, and Fuengirola to ascend the mountain road that leads to Mijas, one of Andalusia’s most picturesque villages. In Mijas, you’ll visit the charming chapel of Virgen de la Peña, a small grotto church located in the carved rock. We will pass by the bullring, visit the local Catholic church, and enjoy the impressive panorama from the balcony of Mijas. After your walking tour, you’ll visit the Mayan Monkey Mijas chocolate museum and learn about the history of chocolate with a demonstration, tasting and enjoy a glass of wine.

Take a stroll through Barrio de Santa Cruz, the old Jewish Quarter, and a labyrinth of narrow streets lined by with wrought irongrilled windows, and white-washed buildings.

Your first visit will be to the Bozcaada Castle, which dates to 1455. Next visit Kimisis Theotokou, a Greek Orthodox Church, now the only church open for worship for the island’s small Orthodox community.

Continue with the visit of a very small museum housed in an old Greek house, crammed with fascinating artifacts from the island’s rich history. Meet Hakan Gürüney, who will share the story behind the creation of his UNESCO-awarded museum. Crossing the main street, you’ll reach a predominantly Muslim neighborhood and continue your visit to some small mosques such as Köprülü Mehmet Pasha Mosque, rebuilt in 17th century after being demolished by the Venetians.
