During the meeting, the Ohio Department of Transportation will announce the results of a Roadway Safety Audit conducted on Ohio 53. Improvements that will be made to the highway to

improve the safety of travelers will also be announced at this time. This meeting is scheduled solely to explain the results and outcome of the study. Input from the general public has previously been given and further public input will not be gathered during this special meeting. The safety audit committee studied Ohio 53 between the

Sandusky-Ottawa county line at Muddy Creek to the intersection of Ohio 2 and 53 just west of Port Clinton, where a string of fatal crashes have occurred. and traffic patterns under different conditions and at various times of the day and night. In addition to ODOT personnel, audit committee members included representatives from the Bay Township Trustees, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the County Engineer, the County Sheriff, the Port Clinton City Schools and the City of Port Clinton.

The “pets” are placed in restaurants, businesses and historic sites around the area and when flipped over send the message the new promotion is all about “Marblehead Rocks!” The idea came about when local businessman Grant McCallum saw an online recap of a similar public art project. After gathering support and putting the budding artists to work, the promotion is now under way.

“It pretty much looked like a war zone when I got there,” she said about her arrival in Minneapolis in late May. “Seeing the homes even after the ninth or tenth day there was still shocking. Pictures never do it justice.” Conboy recently returned home after a

The 22nd annual “Chick” Schaffner Memorial Charity Golf Classic was an unqualified success. More than 130 golfers and gobs of volunteers made even a few raindrops seem insignificant, as nearly $35,000 was raised for Stein Hospice and the American Heart Association. My personal thanks to the volunteers who made it all happen and to the golfers who all reported they had an excellent time.
