Parade of Homes July 9-10 Just about everybody, if asked, would confirm they secretly desire to own a place at the lake. Perhaps that desire isn’t such a secret after all. The desire lives in people from all over Ohio and adjoining states. The remedy? The fourth annual Catawba-Marblehead Parade of Homes to be held Saturday and Sunday, July 9-10. “Last year, we know for certain that at least four sales came from home shoppers to the Parade of
Homes,” said Beacon Publisher John Schaffner. “Once again, we have nine official units offered at eight different developments, and, as in the past, the entire parade is absolutely free and open to the public.” The Catawba Island Parade locations will be at Harbor’s Edge, Fairway Villas, Catawba Bay, Nor’Easter Cove, The Vineyard on Catawba and Beach Towne. The Marblehead parade locations
will be at South Passage, Bailiwick and two at Bay Point. Major Sponsors for the 2011 Parade of Homes include WTOL Channel 11, Herman’s Furniture, Bay Point, The Vineyard on Catawba, Nor’Easter Club, WPCR Radio, Hartung Title, Prete Homes and The Beacon. Also sponsoring this year’s Parade of Homes will be Catawba Interiors, First Federal Savings & Loan and Catawba Island Club as well
as both the Port Clinton and Marblehead Peninsula Chambers of Commerce. As part of the total parade activities, a number of local Realtors will be holding open houses the same weekend. The kickoff event for the Parade of Homes will be a Wine and Cheese Party to be held at the Nor’Easter Club on Catawba from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5. Tickets are $20 and can be pur-
chased from The Beacon, Minuteman Press, either of the sponsoring Chambers of Commerce, as well as any member of the Ottawa County Community Foundation, this year’s beneficiary of the kickoff party. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
BIKE TO THE BAY
Bikers roll down Fifth Street on Saturday to cheering bystanders, wrapping up Day 1 of Bike-to-the-Bay. The annual event is a fundraiser for the National MS Society. Participants can choose from a variety of one- and two-day routes leaving from the Lucas County Fairgrounds and each earns pledges to donate to the cause. Riders filled Port Clinton Middle School parking lot where they camped for the night to enjoy food, massages and showers after the long ride. Tickets to Putin-Bay were awarded to the bikers as a thank you for their efforts.

Tell Tales
Long but fun day of rock ’n’ roll What an amazing time we had on Saturday playing with the Travelin’ Lounge Lizards at the Barge Party on the sand bar at Bay Point. Everybody had a good time and enjoyed the music. Afterward, we loaded up our equipment and went to Port Clinton Yacht Club for the annual Porch Party. Toward the end, we got to be the front band for Allie, who was just a lot of fun to play for. It was a tiring, but a good day! nnn
