Danbury gets $126K for park upgrades Clean Ohio Trails grant awarded for Meadowbrook Danbury Township has landed its seventh grant for Meadowbrook Marsh — bringing the grand total to around $625,000 in funding for the site. The state Clean Ohio Trails grant of more than $126,000 will pay for another 4,000 feet of ADA-accessible, paved trails, bringing the total to nearly 8,000 linear feet of trials at the Marsh. In attendance to help celebrate

Thursday morning was Ohio Department of Natural Resources Director Sean Logan and State Rep. Dennis Murray. “There’s a lot of competition for this statewide and being able to pull more than $126,000 is a great feather in Danbury Township’s cap,” said Logan after presenting the check to township officials. “They’ve proven themselves to be good stewards of the land.”

And the good news for Meadowbrook keeps pouting in. “When I applied it was a combo Clean Ohio Trails and Recreational Trails Program Fund,” said Township Trustee Dianne Rozak. “Now we are getting over $43,000 for recreational trails ... This is just outrageous.” Meadowbrook Marsh is a public nature preserve owned by Danbury Township.

Property gets a facelift Officials celebrate Conestoga success By ANGIE ADAIR Editor Three years and one day after the first Conestoga meeting in Lakeview Park, officials gathered Thursday to celebrate another success. A property at the corner of Ash and State streets is getting a whole new look. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new home on the lot, formerly the site of three dilapidated houses and various “critters” — the cause of repeated community complaints. “It was long overdue,” said Don Corley, housing development coordinator for WSOS Community Action Commission. That group is administering the project through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, which was established to help communities that have suffered from foreclosures and abandonment like the Conestoga neighborhood. The area has seen more than $4.7 million in grants, reduced crime and increased outreach since efforts began in 2007. Plans for the two-story, fourbedroom house include a onecar attached garage, covered porch and two full bathrooms. Although the new construction will beautify the area, what’s special about the structure won’t be visible from the street. Insulated foam paneled walls and energyefficient appliances are among the features that make the home Energy Star 5+ rated. “You can’t tell these houses from the other houses on the street,” said Dennis Feltner, the residential designer on the project. According to Feltner, the
