Getting back to work

By BONNIE NUSSER Director of Northcoast Jobs Connection Finding a new job, starting over can be scary. It’s also exciting! We’re not going to discuss in this article how tough it is out there right now to find a job that is comparable to the one you just left, are leaving or left you. Don’t wait. Reason being, you can’t afford to wait. The longer you sit and stew about your situation, someone else — who you will be competing against for that next job — could already be on their way. The longer you wait, while receiving unemployment (if you are), there’s someone who isn’t waiting. Actually though, you are not really starting over, in the sense that you have built a foundation for yourself to some degree. You are or were on a track going some-

BY JOHN SCHAFFNER Publisher Col. Mike Skomrock took the podium at the Port Clinton High School Performing Arts Center Satrurday to address the members of the 200th Red Horse Squadron who had just returned from a long deployment in the Middle East. “Good morning Red Horse,” he says. Back from the members of his squadron comes “Good morning Sir!” Skomrock said he takes very seriously the mission of his squadron of rapid deployment engineers. He also takes very seriously the support that his squadron gets from their families and the community they call home. “We could not do what we do without

The squadron arrived at Lahm Airport in Mansfield last week and the members have been taking some time readjusting to their lives again as civilians since. Welcome home I was honored to attend and photograph the formal welcome home ceremony for the 200th Red Horse Squadron last Saturday. It was really a nice ceremony. However, there was one moment where the humanity of these airmen shone through. While chatting with a couple of them prior to the ceremony, one of they guys stated in a quite matter-of-fact manner, “I’ve been drinking beer the last few days like it’s my job!” Well said!
