Elmore - Schedel Arboretum & Gardens a True Hidden Treasure in Western Ottawa County The Schedel Arboretum & Gardens is located in Elmore, on a 17 acre paradise of intensively managed gardens and is filled with hundreds of rare and unusual species of trees, shrubs and plants. Formerly the estate of Joseph & Marie Schedel, Schedel Gardens opened to the public in 1991 and has been expanding and improving on the Schedels’ vision ever since. The Brown Welcome Center, named in honor of Charles & Beth Brown of Toledo, was added in 2008. All activities at the Gardens begin with a stop at the lovely welcome Center. Guests will be delighted
with various art exhibits on display there. Exhibits change several times throughout the season. In April (April 1st being opening day for the gardens) SA&G welcomes Kerry Porter of Ohio Kimono, and will feature authentic Japanese Kimono collection. A “Meet the Artist Reception” will be held. Please watch the website www.schedel-gardens. org for details. In addition to the art exhibits, the breathtaking views of the gardens make See ELMORE, Page 3
