It’s Been a Busy Year for the Village of Elmore Submitted by Rick Claar As you walk through the business district of Elmore, time seemingly has stood still in the village which was incorporated 160 year ago. That is what you might see but there is an underlying progressive movement to get the village prepared for future business growth and opportunities. Early in the spring of 2012, groundbreaking will take place for the new wastewater treatment plant which will be near the site of the current treatment plant. Planning for the new

facility began in 2006 and received a shot in the arm that year when voters approved a 3/4% income tax increase to help pay for it. The groundbreaking will begin the third and final phase of sewer and treatment facility improvements needed to meet Environmental Protection Agency criteria related to treatment and overflow regulations. The year 2011 was a year of growth, development and excitement for the Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce. The continued efforts of our members, staff, board, volunteers and businesses resulted in the successes that continue our mission statement to promote, support, and advocate for our members, and strengthen the economic climate of the Oak Harbor area. First and foremost we would like to extend a huge thank to our 2011 Gold Sponsors; The National Bank of Ohio, Community Markets/Toft’s Dairy, The Village of Oak Harbor, Carroll Township, and Magruder Hospital for their generous contribution to the chamber and our community.

The village of Genoa’s retail sector continues to flourish. Once again, the d o w n t o w n business block is 100% occupied. Additionally, the h i g h w a y business district is also thriving. There are many reasons that this village keeps progressing. But if one could sum up in one word the main factor behind this, it would be “cooperation”. That
