Kremers Love Their Library also comes to the Library book sales to buy items for home and school.

From music and movies to books and online programs, the Kremer family of Schaumburg uses the Library for many facets of their life. Rod, Vicki, and 6-year-old Deacon enjoy the Library in person and online. As a special services teacher for School District 54, Vicki even uses it for work. “I love bringing classes to the Library for read-alouds and crafts,” she said. “It’s been a great experience every time we’ve gone.” She also appreciates the teachers’ resources section upstairs in the Reference area. “I get a lot of ideas there,” she said, adding she

As parents, Vicki and Rod had fun reading to Deacon as they participated in “1,001 Books Before Kindergarten” and continue enjoying library materials and services as they engage in Summer Challenges. “I remember the scavenger hunt,” Deacon said. “We found pictures in the Library and turned them in and I got a badge.” Vicki likes to get the book lists for each grade, available in Youth area, because it’s a quick and easy way to find age-appropriate books for Deacon. “We find some of them on Kanopy Kids, and some we check out,” she added. Audio books, digital books and movies are Rod’s go-to resources at the Library, but he also checks out tangible books and downloads music from Hoopla. He

enjoys spending time with Deacon in the Enchanted Forest and Discovery areas, and said his son particularly likes the light table with the magnets.

“When it’s time to choose books, he usually heads for the non-fiction dinosaur section,” Rod said.

Even grandma gets in on the act. When Vicki’s mom babysits, she often takes Deacon to the Library. On a recent visit, she accompanied Vicki and Deacon to the Spring Valley Nature Center and took the StoryWalk trail.
