HARPER COLLEGE BIKE SHARE
We’re excited to announce our partnership with Harper College as a location for their Bike Share Program. Three adult-sized, Koloni bikes are available in April for rent at the Central Library. You can find them on the bike racks on the south side of the building.
How does it work?
• Download the free Koloni app onto a smartphone.
• Sign up with an email address or phone number.
• Input a credit or debit card.
• Scan the QR code on the bike to unlock it and begin riding.
People can rent bikes for free for the first hour and then pay $2.00 an hour afterward. Bikes must be returned to the Central Library bike rack or another designated Bike Share location–found on the app. Happy riding!
Schaumburg Library Comic Con®
Saturday, April 26 • 1-4 p.m. • Central Library • All Ages
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Schaumburg Library’s Comic Con®! In addition to our always-popular Artist Alley featuring local comic book artists, we’ll have photo ops with characters, a Jedi Academy, a costume show, drawing classes, escape rooms, crafts, airbrush tattoos, and more. Costumes are encouraged, so straighten your cape, lace up those boots, and join the fun at this one-day celebration of all things comics and pop culture.
Jedi Academy
Unleash your inner Jedi with Andrew Trygstad–professional entertainer, skilled fencer, singer, and juggler. Kids can craft their very own lightsaber (out of a pool noodle) and then attend the Jedi Academy. Master the Force, young Padawan–your training begins here!

A NEW LIBRARY CATALOG IN MARCH!
We’re rolling out a brand-new library catalog with a fresh, user-friendly interface this spring. Searching for your favorite books, placing holds, and discovering new titles will be easier than ever. Our staff is fully trained and happy to assist you.
In February, we’ll temporarily pause adding items to the catalog and briefly pause placing new holds right before the big launch in March. We appreciate your patience while we work to improve your library experience.
IMPORTANT DATES
• February 17: Due dates are extended through April 9
• March 3: Holds are paused. Anything placed on hold will transfer to the new system on March 19.
• March 9: Holds not picked up will transfer to the indoor Holds Pickup by the Circulation Desk and are available through March 19.
• March 10 through 18: The online catalog will be read-only, and cardholder accounts will be offline. (Staff can still check out items but will not be able to check in materials.)
• March 19: the new catalog is LIVE on our website
• March 19: launching the new mobile app
• After March 19: Update your acount information and communication preferences at schaumburglibrary. org Grab your library card and PIN to log on.
Get Ready and Save Your Checkout History
We recommend that you save your Checkout History by March 9. You can download your list by logging in to your Account, going into History, and choosing the “Print History” option.
New Catalog Features:
• Create family relationships between accounts and view from one log-in.
• Check out and hold eBooks, audiobooks, and more from the catalog.
• Select a preferred pickup location.
• Change contact preferences to email, text, or automatic calls.
• Create “saved searches” to get updates whenever new items are added to the catalog and place a hold.
Please Note
• Library account numbers and PINS will not change.
• Keep your materials between March 10 and 19; we cannot check them back into your account.
• Purchasing new and requested materials resumes after the new catalog is active.
Library App
Part of the upgrade to a new catalog includes the development of our own Library app. You can download the app from your App Store beginning March 19.

This spring, we are announcing the construction of a brand-new ramp on the east-facing side of the Central building. Visitors with strollers, wheelchairs, and mobility concerns will have easier access to the building, especially coming from Town Square. We are excited to begin this project to offer more convenience to our patrons. The Illinois Secretary of State has awarded Schaumburg Library a $50,000 remodeling for accessibility grant to help fund this project. Watch our website for updates.
Very soon, patrons can utilize our new Reflection Room located on the second floor of the Central location. This space is set aside for some quiet reflection, contemplation, prayer, or meditation. Let’s face it–life can be hectic and doesn’t allow for much quiet time and we are happy to provide a place for privacy. Patrons can ask at the Reference Desk to reserve a 30 minute time slot. Cell phones, devices, or computers are not allowed in this room.
LOCAL AUTHOR FAIR
