What is the most important aspect that you consider when buying a new parquet floor? That was the question we asked our consumers. And the answer was perhaps surprising: “the floor that suits the style that I like.” The consumers also told us that they never buy a floor alone – but always as a part of a bigger project: Either building a new home or renovating a house - or even just a room. And there are so many choices to make: Materials, paint colours, textiles and furniture. All with one goal in mind: To create a beautiful home with a consistent style, that really fits my life and my needs. Interior advisor Therefore, to offer the consumer a real added value, we in BOEN have made a commitment to make it easier and more fun to find the style that you like, and choose the floor that fulfils it. Since we are experts in hardwood floors rather than interior design, we have entered into collaboration with the style expert Helle Tjaberg. Helle has worked with interior design for nearly 20 years. In 2001 she started ELLE Decoration Norway, and was the magazine's editor from 2005 to 2012. Today Helle works as a writer, expert and advisor within trends and design. Four styles Together with our style expert we have developed four major style groups: • Pure Nordic • Modern Rustic • Classic Elegance • Urban Contrast

These are all lasting styles with clear historical references, and they will be relevant for many years to come. See our Style Handbook for in-depth information about the styles, and a description of the floors that suit them. A new and inspiring sales conversation The four styles inspire a new sales conversation. Instead of starting a conversation focusing on wood species, wear layers and dimensions – topics that our research show that the consumer finds difficult – the dialogue begins inspiringly: Which style do you like? This is a topic that Mrs Consumer (yes, it is the women who make the purchase decision) loves to talk about, and she will give you lots of cues to use further on in the sales conversation. We’re confident that this new approach will also add value to the category: When there is no longer a “one floor fits all” option the consumer is given a good reason to trade up. The new BOEN Showroom concept To make this new approach to flooring come alive, we’ve created a brand new showroom concept. The showroom consists of a selection of modules, samples and point-ofsale material put together in layouts that guide your customer through the buying process, step-by-step. Giving information, inspiration – and good advice – throughout the conversation. Just like an interior advisor.

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to choose a floor that suits your customer best.

CHOICE OF STYLE
Most of us do not really fit only one style. But people tend to lean more towards one style than the other. To help your customer choose a style, we recommend that you use posters, images, our own “style box” module as well as our virtual floor studio, to present the various styles. Then ask them which style is closest to the style that they are striving to achieve, and which style makes them feel comfortable and at home.

CHOICE OF COLOUR
Each type of wood has a distinctively characteristic colour. The BOEN product range contains a large choice of colours to suit a diverse range of furnishing styles and new trends. To help the consumer choose the colour that will complete their interior, we have sorted our products into the four styles. Although it is not an “exact science”, and you will find that some floors fit more than one style, we firmly believe that the sorting will help your customer make a good decision – and help you to give good advise.

The impression created by large rooms is accentuated by the use of large planks. And a home with a classic style will be further enhanced with a traditional pattern from our Prestige range.
Oil-treated floors emphasize the character of the wood and give the hardwood flooring a very natural feel. Lacquered surfaces are easy to care, and come in both glossy and matt look suiting different styles.
Once your customer has decided on a colour, you’ll present them with the available formats and guide them in making a good choice suiting their style – and their budget.
