Baseline Information Status There are no established links between status data, needs, interventions & impacts
There are thousands of maps, but the information they provide cannot be aggregated
Data exist only in fragmented form
Huge amounts of surplus (unused) data
Government has not enough capacity to drive regional development policies
UN & NGOs have not enough capacity to coordinate programming either
Need for strategic information system!
Information Management Working Group: towards a shared platform for recovery-relevant information
The IMWG facilitates coherent information management and sharing for UN agencies;
ToRs for the IMWG have been approved by UNCT, formally establishing the IMWG in early September ’08;
Information-sharing protocols have signed by WHO, WFP, IOM, UNHCR, UNICEF and UN OCHA; and metadata on all shareable info has been approved and consolidated;
First consolidated set of GIS packages for all 9 States/Areas in the North completed and distributed.
