TaiwanStatementThesis4wasacolonyofafew different countries over the past 300 years. The colonists have left their footprint there, those powerful colonial buildings have been implanted into this land brutally. These negative profiles are still with those people who live on this island omnipresent. Decades later, these negative profiles buildings become a high degree of different from other modern buildings, how to eradicate the difference among them becomes an issue for locals to resolve. A buildings’ façade can represent a city’s partial image and its identity and can elevate the city’s whole image and its particular features. The façade of the building is the first part that people feel. A building’s façade can greatly affect the
overall aesthetics of the building. The façade is like a play in shadow play, each façade is a particular character, and all the façades present a whole city’s image. We cannot erase the past, but what we can do is we can ”camouflage” those buildings with negative profiles, when we renew their façades, we are also remedying the citizens of this island and the city’s image. Try to investigate how the façade will affect the plasticity of memory.
