Uniforms Update
Today’s Reflection Mr Samuel Gittins Chaplain
How do we know? How do we know that Jesus can really restore us to life eternal? The Apostle Paul writes: It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you... I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him… 1 Corinthians 15:2-8 [NLT-SE] Jesus rose from the dead and was seen alive!
With the end of Term 3 fast approaching, we would like to remind parents and students that Summer uniforms are required for Term 4 when all classes commence on Tuesday, 15 October 2019. If you need to purchase any new uniforms, please visit the Uniform Shop located on All Saints Campus. The school holiday opening hours can be found on our College website via this link – https://scotsallsaints.nsw.edu.au/our-college/uniformshop/ Purchases can also be made online via this link - https:// www.noone.com.au/school/scots-all-saints-collegebathurst-nsw/shop For any uniform enquiries, please contact 02 8069 0470. As the weather has been warming up, many students are removing winter jumpers. If any clothing has been found in the playground, it will generally be handed in to the Junior and Middle School Secretaries and Senior School Student Liaison Officer who make every effort to identify items and notify students. Please ensure that all belongings and uniforms are clearly labelled with your child’s name. It is the responsibility of the student and parent to look after uniforms and wear them with pride. Please check the lost property tubs located on All Saints Campus in the Junior School, Middle School offices, the library or Bickerdike Centre to reclaim items that have been handed in.
Morgan wins gold in 1500m race at CIS Athletics Carnival On Tuesday, Morgan Watts raced in the 3000m and 1500m at the CIS Athletics Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush. After a strong result in qualifying, Morgan was hoping for a PB and a top five result. First up was the 3000m and Morgan got off to a fast start. She found her pace and finished strongly with a 27 second PB making her very happy. As the day heated up it was time for the 1500m. Again the pace was on early but Morgan held with the front group and then pushed ahead with another two runners. Morgan accelerated with 1.5 laps to go and hit the lead, finishing well clear of second. This is Morgan's best result at this level and comes after many early mornings of training.

Student Wellbeing Mr Tom van Gend Head of Student Wellbeing K-12
Student Leadership Development Program The majority of my time during the past two weeks has concentrated on the selection process to identify and appoint the 2020 student leadership positions. The official positions are as follows: • College Captain (2 to be appointed) • House Prefect (5 to be appointed) • Academic Prefect (2 to be appointed) • Boarding Prefect (2 to be appointed) • Chapel Prefect (2 to be appointed) • Co-curricular Prefect (2 to be appointed)
The leadership group will be announced to the student body during an assembly to be held on Friday 27 October. The Induction Service for the leaders will take place before the commencement of classes on Tuesday 15 October, the first day back for Term 4. Soon after this, we will be widening the leadership program through the formation of committees within each area of responsibility, involving all Senior students. The final formation step will be an invitation for students from other year groups to nominate to join an area. In these ways, we are seeking to encourage student voice within each area to help ensure that activities and events contribute positively to the College experience of all of our students.
• International Student Prefect (1 to be appointed) • Social Justice Prefect (2 to be appointed) During Week 8, Ms Leaf and I interviewed twentyfour candidates about the positions for which they had nominated. These interviews, while timeconsuming, were thoroughly uplifting. I celebrate that we have such a large pool of young people who wish to focus their time, skills and passion in service of the students and the College, as well as to our local and wider communities. Following the interviews, the selection panel completed the extremely difficult task of selecting the final group of eighteen leaders, based on criteria including: their application and interview performance, their academic, effort and behaviour records and the results of the student and staff ballots completed earlier in the selection process. A final shortlist of candidates also attended a second interview with Mr Weeks and myself for the position of College Captain.

Creating authentic French experiences As French teachers, it is essential to think outside the box and create opportunities for our language learners to have authentic experiences. Yesterday we had the delightful opportunity of hosting Anna Jaja, Artistique Director from THÉÂTRE EXCENTRIQUE in Sydney. As we all know, learning a foreign language is invaluable if you want to understand the world, but if you don’t use it, you lose it. Anna’s workshops are designed specifically for schools and gave our students the chance to hear and speak French while acting out improvisations and having fun. It was wonderful to have Anna visit and endorse our language program at Scots All Saints, as she continued to charm each student into believing that they too have the talent and ability to learn French. The students also enjoyed French pastries from our friends at Racine Bakery in Orange. An enchantingly French way to finish the term!! Madame Adamson

From the P&F Mr Lindsay Wilde P and F President
Can you believe we have reached the end of Term 3? The P and F Committee has been working very hard over the term, but it's not quite over. This week, members of the P and F have had a couple of meetings to attend to review the past and consider the future. Our college community following the success of the Spring Fair, we held a debrief session to discuss the event, how it went (the good, the bad and the ugly), and what needs to change in the future. Thank you to those that attended, in the pursuit of learning, and making our events better. This meeting was followed by a brainstorming session on the future of our event program in 2020. There were a number of ideas to come from the meeting, and further work needs to be undertaken and conversations had before any decisions are made or anything committed to. If there are any suggestions for future event ideas we would like to hear from parents by contacting me via president.sascpfa@outlook.com If you are looking for something to do tonight join us at Charles Sturt University for David Gillespie’s seminar entitled The Teen Brain. Why screens are making your teenager depressed, anxious and prone to lifelong addictive illnesses and how to stop it now. Remember to contact Gemma Green on 0427 103 747 or gemmgreen@gmail.com To our Year 12, as you approach the end of your secondary schooling life, on behalf of the P and F may I remind you to take care of yourselves and each other. Make sure you balance your workload with some exercise, rest and social time. Good luck, we wish you well and thank you for your contribution to the College over the years. We look forward to welcoming you back to visit friends, attend sporting events and being part of the College Alumni.
