Well done Izaak! I’d like to commend Izaak Scott who competed at NSWPSSA athletics last week. Izaak competed strongly in the Junior Discus event and is recognised for this wonderful achievement! All current students will ‘step up’ for the day and teachers have planned a range of activities that cover key features of our program. Students are asked to wear their current school sports uniform as well as sunscreen and bring a bottle of water. All new students will register at 8:45 am at the marquee outside Esrom House on the All Saints Campus. Pre-Kindergarten Orientation Our Pre-Kindergarten Orientation Program will spring into action next week. Dates and times are as follows: Tuesday 19 November - 2020 2 day and 4/5 day classes (All Saints Campus) Wednesday 20 November - 2020 3 day class (All Saints Campus) Thursday 21 November - Scots Campus Wednesday 27 November - Lithgow Campus Triathlon - Tuesday 19 November Stage 2 students are eagerly awaiting our triathlon to be held next Tuesday 19 November. of the year we’ll be presenting home reading badges, Premier’s Reading Challenge Awards and the final class awards for the year. Life Education Healthy Harold and the Life Education team will be here in Week 7. This is an important part of our PDHPE program and further details will be sent home to Pre-K - Year 4 families soon. Lithgow End of Year Concert Our Year 2 students will travel to the Lithgow Campus on Friday 29 November for the Annual Christmas Concert and Fete. I’m sure Mrs Pringle and our Lithgow students are very busy finalising preparations for the day. Graduation Dinner Year 4 families should have received their invitation to the Year 4 Junior School / Graduation Dinner to be held in the All Saints Campus Dining Hall on Friday 29 November. This is sure to be a wonderful night to acknowledge our first graduating Junior School class. Junior School Special Awards Assembly - Tuesday 3 December The Junior School Special Awards Assembly will be held in the Bickerdike Centre on Tuesday 3 December at 9:30 am. Please note that this will be the final day of school for Junior School students and they do not need to attend the Middle and Senior Speech Day which will be held at BMEC on Wednesday 4 December. Following the Junior School Special Awards Assembly on Tuesday 3 December, students are expected to remain at school for the rest of the day. Christmas Cards The end of the school year is quickly drawing near. One of the things students love to do at this time of year is hand out Christmas cards to their friends. If your child wishes to hand out Christmas cards or a sweet treat, could they please do so on Monday, 2 December 2019 to minimise disruption to class time. Seesaw We hope you have been enjoying Seesaw! So far 133 families have joined enabling them to have greater insight into their child’s learning. There have been 3,597 visits and 1939 pieces of work added by our students. Great effort!

Paint the School Pink Day Thank you to all of the students and their families who supported our ‘Pink Up Your School Day’ last Thursday 7 November to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation. We raised over $700 which was presented to the local McGrath Breast Cancer Nurse, Marita Tipene, at our Middle School Assembly on Friday. Orientation Day On Monday 18 November, all students will be moving up to their new class for 2021 as part of Orientation Day. We will be welcoming many new students to the College and everyone will be involved in lots of exciting activities. Students need to wear their PE gear with House shirt. Triathlon On Tuesday 19 November, the All Saints Campus Triathlon will take place, beginning at the College Pool. Mrs Nelson has sent information home regarding the organisation of the Triathlon but I encourage all of the students in Years 3 to 8 to either enter as an individual or as part of as team. It will be a great event.

Hats
The HSC Examinations and the Stage 5 (Year 9 & 10) Examinations have all concluded. Congratulations to all students for their mature response to their preparation and application during this assessment period. It has been lovely to chat with Year 12 students as they completed the last of their exams… such broad smiles! We wish our Year 12 graduates God’s blessing as they move forward with their life plans.
Students must wear a hat if outside in the sun. A significant number of students still claim to be without this regulation item of College Uniform. I would ask that parents assist us in developing sensible sun safe habits in our students by ensuring that students leave the house each morning with their hat. It is a requirement of the College that students wear the formal College hat to and from school each day. The bucket hat or sports cap is the appropriate choice during break time, games, PE lessons and Sport training.
More HSC Success ...
Hair
This week we’re celebrating the news that more HSC students have been nominated for possible inclusion in NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority) Exhibitions. As mentioned previously in The Roar, five students were nominated for possible inclusion in ENCORE (HSC Music): Ricky Chen, Timothy Powell, Emma Russell, Madison Tasker and Brooke Webb. Congratulations to all these students and their teachers who guided and encouraged them during their Year 12 Major Project/Performance journey.
Male students are required to have their hair above their shirt collar and out of their eyes. Female students may wear their hair longer but must wear their hair tied back and out of their face. Whilst the majority of students are compliant with these College requirements there is an increasing trend at the moment for some of our male students to grow their hair longer and in a manner that does not comply with expectations. This is unsatisfactory and parents will be asked to arrange a haircut.
Congratulations
Recent nominations: • Nominated for possible inclusion in Shape 2019 (HSC Design & Technology): William McDonald, Abigail Miller, Timothy Powell. • Nominated for consideration for inclusion in ARTEXPRESS 2020: Isabelle Siegert Uniform Matters Any student in any school uniform is representing their school. It is, therefore, important that our students do so in a way that honours Scots All Saints College and upholds the values and requirements of our academic institution. Learning to live within the boundaries of a community is important and in many ways school, like home, is a training ground where our young people learn to abide by certain expectations. I would ask that parents assist their students in abiding with the following expectations around uniform and personal presentation:
Scots Campus Pre-K, Boarding (Years 5-12), Senior School (Years 9-12) 4173 O’Connell Road BATHURST NSW 2795
All Saints Campus Pre-K, Junior School (Years K–4), Middle School (Years 5-8) 70 Eglinton Road BATHURST NSW 2795
Lithgow Campus Pre-K–Year 6 1 Col Drewe Drive LITHGOW NSW 2790
Clean Shaven Male students are expected to be clean shaven each day. Whilst we love watching our young people grow and mature toward adulthood, the ‘three-day growths’ that are often sported on chins and faces is less exciting. Jewellery and false nails Girls who have pierced ears may wear one set of gold or silver studs or sleepers and piercings must be in the earlobe only. Students may not wear bracelets, bangles, rings and anklets. Under no circumstances are students allowed to wear false nails to school. Best wishes to our Stage 4 (Year 7 and 8) students who are currently sitting their examinations. We’re looking forward to meeting the Year 8 students at the 2020 Orientation Day next week.

Remembrance Day Service We thank all the students who contributed to the Remembrance Day services on Monday. On the Senior Campus the School Leaders did a great job organising the service and helping with the set up and pack up. We also thank the Cadets who served with the Catafalque Parties on both campuses and the students that played musical items. Not only is it an important day for our school calendar it is also revered nationally and globally as a day of remembrance for those men and women who have served our country in war. Cadets uniform returns A reminder is given for all Cadets to please return all of your Cadet uniform. Year 8 Cadets can return next Wednesday 20 November as this will be the last Cadet session for the year or they can return to reception on the ASC Campus so that pickup and delivery can be arranged. Please make sure that you place all clean and nicely folded Cadet uniforms with your boots and bush hats in a plastic bag with your name clearly written on the bag. Students who do not return their Cadet uniforms will be charged for them.
ATTENTION ALL YEAR 7 SCIENTISTS The Annual TAS Forensic Science Camp will be held in Armidale during July 2020. Please see details below. Contact Mr Cant if you are interested in applying.
After sport training swimming and recovery sessions (Senior Campus) On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 4:50 pm and 5:20 pm students are invited to attend the SASC Indoor swimming pool for lap swimming and/or exercise recovery activities. The sessions will be supervised and free of charge. A reminder about sport absences Students are reminded that all efforts should be made to inform staff and coaches of absences from sport training and matches. Simply not showing up without explanation is unacceptable and it lets down others in the team. An email to the Head of Sport, the MIC of the sport or the staff member for the team is not too onerous and should be done as a minimum.

ROAR THE
From the P&F Mr Grant Baker P&F President
Annual General Meeting
To introduce myself, Jenny and I have lived in Bathurst for 18 years, and have two daughters, our eldest currently in Year 8, and our youngest is joining the College in Year 6 next year. We have always been committed to the school community where our kids have attended, and it was for this reason that I joined the 2019 P&F. I felt there was a great opportunity to contribute and ‘get amongst it’ with a great bunch of people. I am an Engineer in the Local Government sector and am presently Director Infrastructure Services at Blayney Shire Council. Local Government is about serving our community, as is the P&F. Following the Annual General Meeting of the College P&F, last week, I wish to recognise the new Committee for 2020: Sue Rogers, Sandra Sharpham, Rhonwen Hazel, Mel Jacobsen, Beth Jeffries, Gemma Green, Danial Beech, Natalie Cranston and Olga Burgess. These people have put their support behind Scots All Saints College and wish to contribute to building the reputation and culture of our College as it continues to develop. Thank you all, I look forward to working with you throughout 2020. Farewell to Lindsay As the new President, I wish to recognise the hard work of the 2019 Committee, in our Foundation Year. With short timeframes, and the demands of a new school, they managed to deliver a successful Highland Gathering and Spring Fair, generating strong fundraising support. With the change of Committee, we have also said goodbye to past President, Lindsay Wilde. Lindsay had been President for 6 years, and provided strong leadership especially over the last year. I personally wish to recognise his support to the school community and P&F over the years and the last 12 months. I know, I and others have learnt a lot from working with him. On Friday, Jen and I enjoyed a dinner with Lindsay and Judith and it is clear that they have a deep passion for the school community, but are now looking forward to some personal time after a challenging year. Thank you Lindsay and Judith for your contribution

to the school over the years. Please enjoy your newfound freedom but keep in touch. Just let me seek your counsel into the future over a coffee! At the AGM, Lindsay provided his final report acknowledging the work undertaken by all members of the 2019 P&F and encouraged parental involvement with a focus on working for the benefit of students across the College. The meeting accepted the financial report submitted by Panorama Business and Financial, and Lindsay noted a significant contribution from fundraising efforts through events such as the Highland Gathering and Spring Fair. Other sub-committees continue to provide support to their respective groups as part of the P and F collective and we are grateful for parent and staff involvement to support our work. Lindsay acknowledged that the College community continues to provide fantastic support by volunteering at our fundraising events, but our sub-committees, are struggling to keep going without people to support them, by attending meetings or taking on Committee roles. The immense amount of work put in by a limited group of people is creating fatigue amongst them, and I urge you to support these great people. Ladies of the Land in NSW As a College with strong connections to the bush with our rural and regional families we have been looking for a way to give back. Our research has identified ‘The Ladies of the Land’ in NSW program, to recognise those who give up so much to try and make ends meet on the farm, during this prolonged drought. We would like to make a difference, and ask you to help out by delivering donations to Reception at either of our Bathurst campuses by Monday 2 December. We will create pamper boxes for the program. Further information about how you can get involved can be found in The Roar. If I can provide any advice, please do not hesitate to contact me via email on president.sascpfa@outlook. com. As I finish writing this report, I am watching the tragedy that has been unfolding across NSW as a result of these terrible bushfires. I hope you, your families and friends are safe. I look forward to catching up with you, otherwise, stop and say hello.

The Ladies of the Land
There are so many worthy groups and programs to support drought-affected families, it can be challenging to support some and not others. However, the P&F have done their research and identified ‘The Ladies of the Land in NSW’ and #Buyfromthebush to focus efforts of the College community this Christmas. ‘Buy from the Bush’ is a campaign that is growing as a community movement to encourage all Australians to buy produce, goods and services from local and regional businesses who may also be facing financial hardship due to the drought. A Facebook page @BuyFromTheBush helps to “showcase beautiful things to buy from rural communities facing drought. A small way to invest in their future…” Any help and support you can provide to these worthy causes or any others you have identified will go a long way to making a difference within our regional communities. Scots All Saints College P&F would love to receive donations, so we can lovingly create boxes, supporting Ladies of the Land in NSW this Christmas. Donations can be delivered to Reception on either the Scots or All Saints Campuses. Please clearly label when delivering what your items are for – Ladies of the Land. Here are some great ideas of what you could consider donating … shoe boxes & a newspaper ready for wrapping, rolls of ribbon for wrapping too card or note with a special message small arts & crafts project pampering toiletries

AMADEUS ACADEMY ANNUAL
Recital
6:30
PM
“It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas…” as many ensembles prepare carols and Christmas tunes for the final weeks of school. It really is a Christmas term as those famous jingles get ‘stuck in your head.’ We are privileged in the Performing Arts Academy to work with so many talented staff and tutors who lead and direct our students. The Infants Suzuki Strings Program has witnessed 33 students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 1 fall in love with the violin under the talents of Lisa Stewart and Stefan Duwe. Each Wednesday these world-renowned musicians continue to introduce the children to the beautiful world of strings. The Amadeus Academy String Quartet enjoyed a Masterclass on Wednesday ahead of our annual recital. “Working with Lisa was phenomenal; her tone and control is truly exceptional not to mention Stefan’s warmth and harmonic balance on the viola.” said Samuel Lloyd from Year 10. Well done to Ms Liz Sargeant for her ongoing work with the Amadeus students! Other exciting developments in the Performing Arts Academy include the huge cast of 'Annie' working through their choreography learning dance technique and the routines with Mrs Casey and Mrs Jooste. Mrs Rachel Bate, Vocal Director, has also been working the chorus and leads this term developing their voices. The large musical orchestra has begun rehearsals early on Fridays as well and we are wondering how they will fit in the pit at BMEC. Over 140 students will present the show Annie in March 2020 - there is so much talent across the College! The inaugural Amadeus Academy Recital will be held on Tuesday 19 November on the Scots Campus. Guests are welcome to arrive from 6:00 pm at the Performing Arts Centre for a 6:30 pm start. Individual and small ensemble performances will entertain our community as the year’s work is captured by our Amadeus Academy musicians. World renowned soprano, Rachel Bate, will also perform a collection of French and German opera excerpts. Trust me when I say … you do not want to miss this

Students to present concert and play At the end of each year, Lithgow Campus students, both Pre-K and K-6, present a concert and play for family and friends. This year we are presenting the play, A Pirates Christmas. This will be held in the Bible Church at 11:30 am. We are very pleased to welcome students and staff from Bathurst to watch the performance and join in for the fun at the Mini Fete. The small but dedicated P&F committee work hard all term to coordinate a fete for students to finish off the year. This year many activities will reflect the theme of A Pirates Christmas, with loot bags, lucky boxes, sailing hot dogs and croissant crabs on offer as well as some traditional stalls including a cakes, craft, hair feathers and the chocolate toss to name a few.

Scots All Saints College reduced our waste for this one meal by 70%! Families should be congratulated for their efforts.
