For the web, we can accept jpg, png, gif and swf, including video in swf format. For email/newsletters, we accept jpg and gif only. Animated gifs should include your message in frame #1 as it’s the only frame Outlook 2007 users will see. Banner ad materials are due 3 business days in advance of when they are to appear online.

TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE/TECHPAPERS REPORT SPECIFICATIONS HEADLINE: Max. 60 characters, including spaces. BODY COPY: Max. 600 characters, including spaces. Plus one image. Materials deadline for the TechPapers report is the 1st of the month. Deadline for the Technology Showcase is the 15th of the month.

Mechanical Requirements

All ad rates are quoted for full color advertisements using standard colors: cyan, magenta, yellow and black (CMKY). All other colors are taken from the four-color process unless a specific spot/match color is specified. Match colors are quoted separately on request.

Send ads in print quality Adobe® PDF format (preferred). We also accept Adobe Photoshop (PSD), JPEG, EPS, TIFF and Adobe Illustrator. Images should be supplied at 300ppi, line art scanned at 1200ppi. A color printout or Acrobat® pdf file for proofing purposes should accompany all artwork that isn’t submitted as PDF.

Cover positions are sold on a first come, first served basis. Preferred positions can be requested by full page advertisers, subject to availability. Special positions are available adjacent to the contents page, regional news, first technical article and new products section.

D IGITAL E DITION ENHANCEMENTS If you will be enhancing your ad in the digital edition, we recommend that you provide a second version of the ad that has been designed to accommodate the enhancements. For instance, if a video is to be added in the digital edition, provide a version of the ad that has a blank space designed in for the video to be placed over. If you want readers to be able to click to bring up a contact form, add a “Click here to contact us now!” badge to the design of the digital version, etc. Mechanical requirements for the digtial version of the ad are the same as for print (see above). Below are specifications for specific enhancements you might add: Video: FLV format. Max. size: 50 MB.

Other tips: • First frame must be exactly the size and shape of the stage. • Entire stage on frame one must be filled. • No masking allowed on the first frame. No nested movie clips with animations or masking or code on first frame. • No code on first frame. • If you need to have masking and interactivity it can exist in frame two which can have “stop()”.

Audio: MP3 file. Max. size: 50 MB. Animation: SWF format, ActionScript 3.0. Max size: 50 MB. Keep all movie clips and animations inside a mask that is contained within the stage to ensure your animations stay within your stage. DO NOT embed FLV videos in your SWF.
