“What was the No.1 benefit for you / your organisation from today’s event?”

Over half mentioned the networking, and several more singling out the discussion time. 5 delegates mentioned the quality of the speakers, with 1 delegate commenting that she was “Made aware of the benefits and opportunities that the SJF can offer.”

Comments and/or suggestions for future events.

The comments section was probably the most revealing section of the survey, with the feedback being overwhelming positive, and any criticism being constructive. The most popular suggestions were; 1. It should be a yearly event.

2. It should be held over 2 days 3. It should include practical elements e.g. workshops for teachers (from “the terrified to the proficient”), although it was stressed that these must be of the highest quality.

4. More time for discussion and debate 5. More time for delegates to interact with the trade stands.

6. A live performance to end the conference, preferably by a youth band to highlight the benefits of Jazz Education.

7. It was suggested that the conference should be held up north (as well as in the south), but perhaps in Aberdeen.

8. The need for creating a network of Jazz Education across Scotland, which will help to lighten the isolation many feel.
