Club Investment Principles

Sports Facilities Fund Local Authority & Club Projects can apply for up 50% funding • • •

Large and small projects Club Projects under £50k Area of Multiple Deprivation


Eligible Projects • The provision extension or upgrading of playing facilities or changing accommodation • Storage facilities for playing equipment • Purchase of major items of non-personal equipment (with a 7 year life)


SFF Key Considerations • deliver increased participation or improved performance • identified in SGB/LA facilities strategies / fit with any other relevant strategy • financial need • address identified gaps in provision • fit with Community Sports Hubs principles


Legacy 2014 Active Places •

£10 million, 2012 – 2015

Funding for capital projects that provide opportunities for people to get physically active or participate in sport.

Grants of between £10 000 and £100 000 for a wide range of community-led projects

Focus will be on informal projects

Ineligible Projects •

Projects with a value under £10,000 inc VAT

Buildings etc not having a life expectancy of at least twice the length of the terms of award

All repairs, renewals, replacement, and maintenance

Free standing administrative areas and committee rooms which are not essential parts of sports facilities.

Purchase of buses, vans and the like

Bars, Dining Rooms, dedicated social areas and associated spaces

Feasibility studies and design competitions

Speculative purchase of land and / or facilities for utilisation / development in the long term

Purchase of land and or facilities as a means of saving money on rent

Bedroom / Residential accommodation inc caretakers flats etc

Personal Equipment

General Sports equipment not having a life expectancy of more than 7 years,

What is sportsmatch? sportscotland managed scheme to match commercial business sponsorship on a £ for £ basis, £500 min - £10,000 max Sponsorship can be in cash or ‘in kind’


sportsmatch Projects must: aim to develop or increase participation and/or improve standards in grassroots community sport

Awards for All For sportscotland consideration there must be sports development outcomes. The application should reflect what you need to participate in the sport.

How does your Project develop Sport?


UKCC Coach Education Training • Funding towards the cost of UKCC endorsed qualifications. • Individuals or groups of two or more from the same organisation / club can access funding of up to 50% or £150/person of the course fee, whichever is lower. • Must demonstrate current coaching involvement • Level 1 subsidy via sportscotland UKCC • Level 2 and above subsidy via SGB


Direct Club Investment Focused on strengthening club sport by delivering on two key outcomes: •Growth in club membership •Growth in clubs which provide the correct environment to develop athletes to performance levels


Direct Club Investment • Investment to support club development over a period of 2-4 years • Up to £10k per year Applications through Regional Sports Partnership


Core Investment types • Employ coach to work with performance squad • Employ coach to grow membership • Employ coach to develop club


Investment 2013/14 to present • Awards for All – 11 awards £45 343 investment

• Sportsmatch – 5 awards £20 760 investment

• UKCC – 872 awards to coaches and teachers (13/14)

• Direct Club Investment – 7 awards £215 000 investment

Provides a consistent single source of technical guidance to design teams, owners and operators of sports facilities.
