Apple Crumble
I have been making this recipe for Dad since I was 10yrs. His favourite! It’s quick, easy and a great comfort food on those cold winter nights. Enjoy! Heart Chloe.

Ingredients
Apple Filling
1 kg (or approx. 6) apples, cored, chopped into cubes (tinned apples work too if you’re short on time!) ½ cup coconut sugar ¼ cup arrowroot or tapioca powder 1 tsp ground clove 2 tsp ground nutmeg 1 tsp ground ginger
Pinch salt 2 tbsp water
Crumble
½ cup desiccated coconut ½ cup almond meal 1 cup rolled oats ¾ cup coconut or brown sugar ½ cup of organic spelt or plain flour ½ tsp baking powder 150ml of coconut oil or butter, melted 2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp vanilla
Method
Preheat the oven to 180˚C fan-forced. In a large mixing bowl add all filling ingredients and ensure apples are well coated by the sugar and spices. Spread them over the base of a medium baking dish. Reusing the mixing bowl, stir in all the dry ingredients. Pour over coconut oil and stir until small clumps form a crumble. Evenly heap the crumble mixture over the apples and bake for 40 mins.

We continue to support Youth off the Streets
As SmartBurn helps you keep warm and safe this winter, our thoughts are with the 19,400 children aged 0-14yrs who were homeless on Census night 2016, forced to spend their nights cold and vulnerable. Many wonderful organisations provide specialist homelessness services to some 65,000 youth. It feels good to give through financial support to Youth Off the Streets so they may continue to build stronger and safer communities.
